Yesterday, the House voted 22-19 to pass House Bill 450 with amendments, to ban many commonly-owned firearms. It will now go to the Senate for further consideration. Please contact your state senator and ask them to OPPOSE House Bill 450.

House Bill 450 House Amendment 1 imposes a ban on many commonly-owned rifles, shotguns, and handguns that law-abiding citizens use for self-defense and sport. The firearms banned are those from Marylands enumerated model list, as well as any other firearm with an arbitrary physical feature on Connecticuts criteria list.

New gun laws wont fix the problem

If all factors are considered, then it is not a gun problem, and a new gun law will not fix it. The legal gun owner is not the problem, and within the context of self-defense they prevent potential victims in defense of self or others, often without shots fired. The gun-owning public has grown and includes women, minorities and prior gun control advocates due to violent criminals having gun charges disappear in plea bargaining, as well as being released before the ink is dry on the booking form.

What is an assault rifle?

The government should be allowed to monitor, in the least intrusive way, all assault rifles for the protection of all citizens and the community by ensuring they are used in a legal manner. Therefore, assault rifle owners would be require to purchase a secure gun safe to store this weapon and have internet access. These gun safes would be fitted with a sensor that would only detect when the safe door was opened or closed. This information would be available to law enforcement, over the internet, so they could determine if an assault rifle was taken from or put back into the gun safe, that is, if the assault rifle is being used properly.

A stabbing at a residence in southwestern Jones County may have been a case of self-defense between family members, investigators with the Jones County Sheriffs Department said.

They responded to two residences on Delk Road on Thurs- day afternoon after an altercation between Darren Everett, 54, and son-in-law Thomas Craft, 29, led to Everett being stabbed and suffering serious injuries, according to reports.

Everett reportedly pointed a gun at Crafts wife and their 4-month-old baby, and a fight ensued and Everett was stabbed.

The president, frustrated as he is, must abide by the Supreme Courts 2008 decision in District of Columbia v. Heller, in which the court held that the Second Amendment protects an individual right to possess a firearm unconnected with military service, and to use that firearm for self-defense in the home. While many historians disagree with Justice Antonin Scalias interpretation of the Second Amendment, it is the law.

Whats more, the court held that this right to possess a firearm extends to the sorts of weapons that are in common use. This right to possess, or bear, firearms in common use, such as the ubiquitous 9 mm pistol, implies, as the court writes, the right to use these arms for self-defense.

So you heard about the dude who tried to kill the Supreme Court justice. And no, he wasn't one of those terrorists at the school board meetings.

Apparently, he was mad about Roe v. Wade and he saw killing Kavanaugh as just a really late, late, late-term abortion.

I don't know what's upsetting to you. The creep was also very pro-gun control, so much so that he actually tried to shoot someone. It's like a recovering alcoholic celebrating his first full year of sobriety by doing shots of Jack.

We had free access to guns when I was growing up. Common gun sense ruled the country. There was seldom the kind of mass shootings of kids as we see occurring today.

Ironically, the strongest defenders of our killing gun culture are also the same people who allegedly stand for sanctity of life on the abortion question. When guns are involved, sanctity of life goes down the drain.

Most gun owners, from single shot pistols to AR-15s, argue that these are necessary for self-defense. But if you know the figures, you will know that more kids are being shot in schools than burglars shot in bedrooms.

RI: House Passes Magazine Ban and More!

Anti-gun politicians in Providence moved one step closer to adopting the most drastic gun ban in Rhode Island history. The House of Representatives, after hours of debate, passed a trio of gun bills. The following bills were passed late Friday night:

H.6614 by Rep. Justine Caldwell is a magazine ban. The bill is drastic with no grandfathering and forces gun owners to get rid of any magazines capable of holding over 10 rounds or become a felon and lose your firearms for life. Because many handguns do not have standard magazines below the arbitrary limit created by this legislation, these guns essentially would become obsolete.

When Raevahnna Richardson spotted a woman standing outside a library in Salem, Oregon, gathering signatures for a gun-safety initiative, she made a beeline to her and added her name.

"I signed it to keep our kids safe, because something needs to change. I have a kid that's going to be in first grade this upcoming season, and I don't want her to have to be scared at school," Richardson said.

Many factors drive this politicization.

For one thing, gun sales are big business some manufacturers with federal contracts even use their profits to lobby against gun control. For another, the National Rifle Association holds great sway in Washington and drives large campaign donations to GOP politicians to ensure inaction.

But at heart, this is a cultural problem.

Hollywood, for example, glamorizes guns the way it once did smoking. Researchers Brad Bushman and Dan Romer found that acts of gun violence in PG-13 movies nearly tripled between 1985 and 2015.

But even more dangerously, guns have become central to the right wings culture wars.

OH: Ohio's new permitless carry law goes into effect Monday

With a new state gun law going into effect Monday, allowing people to carry concealed firearms without a license, some might think people are out buying guns.

Not so, says Daryl Upole, owner of Ohio Guns in Ashtabula, a federally licensed firearms dealer.

Mostly people are concerned about gun control after the Texas shootings, he said. As far as the concealed handgun license (CHL), Ive had no one buy a firearm because of that.

Ohio joined its neighbors as a permitless carry state on March 14 when Gov. Mike DeWine signed into law Senate Bill 215. Under the new law, set to take effect Monday, adults who can lawfully own a firearm will be able to conceal carry a handgun without a permit or background checks.

America may be the longest-standing democracy in the world, but it's true to say the nations founding documents seem to be increasingly fraying against the relentless march of time.

This is inevitable because change is the only constant, after all. There's a world of difference between a musket that you have to manually reload after it's fired to an AR-15 military assault weapon for example, which can shoot between three and even six shots per second.

Black gun owners sound off on 'ridiculous' Joy Behar's remarks: 'Her comments are stupid'

Now some are speaking out after she suggested that loose gun laws would rapidly change "once Black people get guns in this country."

The remarks on the left-wing gabfest drew applause in the studio audience, but they drew revulsion just about everywhere else.

"What she really shows is her, you know, utter lack of history of her own party's racist heritage and trying to disarm not just all Americans, but particularly African Americans," Oklahoma Republican Senate candidate T.W. Shannon told Fox News Digital. "We know that a big part of the NRA movement was to arm African Americans, to protect them from the Democrats that made up the KKK. So I think Joy Behar really owes an apology to African-Americans for this incendiary comment."

IL: The Second Amendment doesnt rule out new gun restrictions

In 2015, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit upheld bans on assault weapons and large-capacity magazines enacted by New York and Connecticut. The opinion was written by Jose Cabranes, a veteran judge with a moderate reputation. His analysis laid out a persuasive template for evaluating gun restrictions.

Cabranes held that to be consistent with the Second Amendment, the laws had to meet certain conditions. They had to serve an important purpose, they had to reflect reasonable inferences based on substantial evidence and they had to leave citizens with good alternatives for self-defense. He concluded that these laws were constitutional.

I recently have been hearing my left-leaning friends saying we need to do something about mass killings. But to me its not about doing something. Its about preventing innocent people from being murdered by a violent killer.

So, when they say we need to do something, I have some questions to ask. The first and most important question to ask is: Will this reduce the number of people being murdered?

The answer is no.

Just because we may decrease legal access to firearms doesnt reduce the number of people murdered. Why? Do criminals, killers and the mentally ill follow the law? No. Would new laws stop criminals from getting guns or just law-abiding citizens?

A new safety measure could soon be coming to New York Schools. Alyssas Law already passed in the state assembly last week and it now sits on Governor Kathy Hochuls desk.

Alyssas Law is named after Alyssa Alhadeff, a 14 year-old whose life was cut short by the February 2018 shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.

Lori, Alyssas mother, founded the law a few years ago, describing her daughter as beautiful and vivacious. Alyssa even has ties to New York as she was born in Queens.

Alyssas Law is a panic button, says Lori, we want to empower teachers to be able to push a button whether its on their cell phone, something they wear around their neck, or a hardwired panic button.

Representative Paul Gosar, DDS (AZ-04) issued the following statement after voting against H.R. 7910, the Unconstitutional Gun Restrictions Act, a radical and blatantly unconstitutional gun control bill.

It didnt take long for Joe Biden and House democrats to use the tragedies in Buffalo and Texas to push for more gun control measures. They blatantly disparage our God-given and Constitutionally protected right to self-defense. As crime rises to record levels across our country, thanks to democrat socialists who run our major cities, self-defense is more important than ever.

Year over year, one of our most frequently asked questions at NRA Women is whether .22-caliber handguns make sense for self-defense. There's a great deal of science and debate that goes into the answer, but we can cut to the chase with a simple phrase: The .22 you have on you is always going to be better than the .45 you left at home. If anything in that previous sentence rings true for you and your personal circumstances, Walther Arms' new .22 Magnum Pistol is sure to be the one you're never going to want to leave at home.

The Republican Senate confirmed him, and he sits on that court today. In May, he was the author of a 2-1 majority opinion declaring unconstitutional California's ban on the sale of semiautomatic weapons to those under 21.

The ruling, handed down on May 11, less than two weeks before an 18-year-old gunman used a similar weapon to slaughter 19 schoolchildren and two adults in Uvalde, Texas, evoked an America beleaguered by frontier lawlessness.

The California ban, he wrote, would leave young persons unable to protect themselves except with shotguns. As he wrote, "shotguns are outmatched by semiautomatic rifles....

Most new companies are lucky to last five years. Beretta has survived for five centuries, which is a remarkable feat indeed. Over the course of the companys history, the Beretta family has seen the advent of breech-loading guns, repeaters, smokeless powder and much more. And through it all, Beretta has managed to remain on the leading edge of firearm innovation for 500 years. Today, the company is as strong as ever, but Beretta faces new challenges. The large and growing concealed-carry market has prompted all gun makers to develop lightweight, compact, polymer-frame semiauto handguns for personal defense.
