"Everybody started to run out of ammunition. The other retailers and stuff did a couple of months ago. Nine millimeter MO is particularly hot, and so is 223, and people were buying shotguns and self-defense guns," says the owner of First Stop Gun & Coin, Mark Blote

This is usually a slow time of year for the shop, but Blote believes there has been an uptick in business due to the many uncertainties of the moment.

Legalized lynching. Citizens license to kill. Codification of black mens deaths.

These were just a few of the characterizations people offered to the Ohio House Criminal Justice Committee of a stand your ground proposal that lawmakers reviewed Tuesday.

Starting in the afternoon and continuing well into the evening, a steady stream of citizens implored lawmakers to nix the proposal. They said the bill is overly generous to people who shoot someone, purportedly in self-defense, and will establish further legal protections of racist killings.

Speaking publicly for the first time about his forced resignation, the former Lowell police chief insists he did nothing wrong.

Steven Bukala resigned under pressure after posting an image of four armed men on Facebook who said they had decided to patrol the streets in case violent protesters came to Lowell. The chief posted their image on Facebook and expressed his support for their second amendment rights.

Criticism came swiftly, prompting the city to apologize. Lowell City Manager Mike Burns later told Bukala that he had to resign or be fired. Bukala chose the former and stepped down before the city managers deadline.

Breonna Taylor, say her name, was the chant at the forefront of Friday afternoons march in Grand Rapids that was dedicated to the 26-year-old woman who was shot and killed by police in March. Breonna Taylors name and story have been a part of demonstrations around the world in recent weeks, but this one was packed with grief and a familys cry for justice.

Taylor was shot eight times by Louisville police officers when they conducted a no-knock warrant. Taylor and her boyfriend were sleeping at the time, and Kenneth Walker told police he fired at the officers in self-defense. None of the officers involved have faced charges for their involvement in Taylors death.

The city of Louisville in US state of Kentucky banned "no-knock" warrants Friday after a black woman was killed in her home earlier this year by police, sparking widespread outrage.

Breonna Taylor, a 26-year-old health care worker, was killed by police in March, shot eight times in her home as police officers and her boyfriend exchanged gunfire while police attempted to carry out a drug sting. The officers requested and were granted a no-knock warrant by a local judge.

[This lawsuit] has absolutely no impact on our operation [or] decisions to open up today, answered Fried when asked to address the lawsuit. I certainly, as an attorney, do not follow the whims of a frivolous lawsuit on our decision in policymaking

In response, YAL President Cliff Maloney fired back: Constitutional rights are not frivolous. Its disappointing to see Nikki Fried use her elected office to undermine our rights to benefit her gun-grabbing agenda. At this time, the online Concealed Weapons License portal is still not open so we are moving forward with the lawsuit to defend all Floridians right to self defense.

The irony of uninformed opposition to this legislation is that most of us would not be affected at all. Purchase of guns would not be prohibited and background checks not even required when gifting guns between family members or transferring weapons for hunting, target shooting or self-defense.

Olson doesnt seem to realize how many mass murders have been committed with legally procured military assault rifles designed for one purpose only to kill people. Delgado, along with most Americans believe these machine guns should be banned.

The state should be permitted to disarm its citizens to the extent it judges necessary to protect its own strength to protect its society.

Despite these facts, some people question whether stricter gun control would protect African Americans or make them more susceptible to racism and police brutality. These concerns seem to miss the point: fewer guns in society means that police need fewer weapons, and the existence of large numbers of guns means that police are in greater fear of being shot, which means that they are more likely to shoot first and ask questions later. If guns were not permitted on the street, and violation of that law were heavily punished, police would not need to draw their guns if they had them.

WA: Amid Seattle Crisis, SPD Admits RKBA, Open Carry Legal as City Under Siege

Images of armed guards have been posted on social media, and Nollette told reporters in this video broadcast by KOMO, While they have a constitutionally-protected right to bear arms, and while Washington is an open carry state, there is no legal right for those arms to be used to intimidate community members.

It was a surprising observation in a city known for its anti-gun-rights official philosophy. It might be one of the few things that has made sense lately in a city that rivals Portland, Ore., and San Francisco for its far-left political tilt. It could also be remembered by Second Amendment advocates at future legislative hearings on gun control proposals, a fact not lost on Evergreen State gun activists.

As with our guy holding the baseball, these leaders believe that in spite of the 100% failure rate of this practice in other countries, somehow it will work this time. Soon after this edict goes into effect, which negates citizens means of personal protection, the people who have succumbed to the tyrannical gun confiscation will be confronted by armed criminals.

As has been the result in 100% of these programs, the criminal activity against them will increase dramatically. Being unarmed, they become easy prey for members of the criminal element, who somehow never got around to turning in their guns.

America is broken. Self-appointed militia members carrying high-powered long guns showed up at the remarkable gathering of peaceful people at the Black Lives Matter rally in Kalispell Depot Park on June 6. The stated intent to be peace-keepers is ludicrous. Their purpose was to intimidate.

I worked in ERs for decades. I know what guns do. They kill. Guns have no place in a crowded place, held by threatening men and women without badges. Policemen have difficult jobs and need policing themselves but based on current militia behavior they need policing, too.

Other security companies also reported an uptick in protection requests from businesses of all sizes and residential complexes downtown, in Capitol Hill, Pioneer Square and even Redmond, West Seattle and Tukwila. Fueling the surge, they say, are fears police consumed with controlling protests won't prioritize property protection.

The push toward private security began during the coronavirus pandemic closures, with businesses fearing break-ins on abandoned streets. It continued even as businesses reopened, with staff sometimes encountering unusually hostile customers seemingly stressed out by the pandemic. Then, things really took off once the protests began.
