The father of slain Columbine High School student Daniel Mauser was arrested outside NRA headquarters Wednesday after refusing to end his one-man march. Mauser was arrested on misdemeanor trespass charges, spent about an hour in a holding cell with about 18 other men and was released on $250 bail.

An FBI sniper who shot and killed the wife of white separatist Randy Weaver at Ruby Ridge will not be tried in an Idaho courtroom, an Idaho county prosecutor said Thursday. Last week, a sharply divided 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that FBI sniper Lon Horiuchi could face trial on an involuntary manslaughter charge for the death of Vicki Weaver in the 1992 standoff.

After 495 days of deliberation, the Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces (CAAF) has rendered a decision in the case of Army Specialist Michael New, upholding the rulings of the lower military courts, thereby affirming the original court-martial.

"A lot of men died for that flag. During the war, it was more than just a symbol." John Cox, a retired Army Special Forces colonel who lives in St. Petersburg, said it seems each year that fewer flags are flying in front of homes on holidays.

Special Prosecutor Stephen Yagman, who was appointed by Woodbury to handle the case, criticized the decision and said he hoped a different prosecutor might refile the charge or bring a more severe charge.

"I could not disagree more with this decision than I do," Yagman said. "It sounds to me like the system has suffered a temporary corruption."

Legislation to block counties, cities and towns from suing gun manufacturers cleared a Senate committee Wednesday. The bill, sponsored by State Sen. Fountain Odom (D-Mecklenburg), gives only the STATE of North Carolina the authority to bring lawsuits against gun manufacturers...

Several U.S. cities have sued gun makers, claiming their marketing techniques have increased gun violence. All the lawsuits have been unsuccessful.

One issue always on the congressional agenda is lowering the crime rate. However, overzealous congressmen and crime control groups are trying to reduce crime rates through removing civil rights.

One of the most glaring examples is Senator Jack Reed's (D-RI) Gun Show Background Check Act of 2001. The new background check act would close the "gun show loophole" by extending the Brady Bill background check requirements to all firearm sales.

The survey says, "Most victims of violent crimes - 67% - don�t face an attacker with a weapon."

And then, "The survey excludes murders because the statistics bureau records only crimes reported firsthand by victims it interviews."

How can they even report such bogus stats?
