Lane Carter Unrein is 10 weeks old and he really is a good little boy.
He was born 24 days before his due date, thereby allowing his mother to go back to work in time to begin her quest for a fourth straight Summer Olympics appearance.
Corey Cogdell-Unrein, Alaskas two-time Olympic bronze medalist in trapshooting, captured fifth place at the USA Shooting national championships last week in Colorado, a little more than two months after giving birth to Lane, her first child.
She was the top shooter in qualifying competition, firing 238 out of a possible 250 to finish two points ahead of anyone else an effort that included two consecutive perfect rounds, meaning she hit 50 targets in a row without a miss.

The night before Kate Nixon and 11 others were murdered by a disgruntled co-worker, the decade-long Virginia Beach city employee talked with her husband about bringing a gun to work for self-defense -- a decision that was taken out of her hands by the city's ban on employees carrying firearms at work, a Nixon family lawyer said.
Kate expressed to her husband concerns about this individual in particular, as well as one other person, Nixon family attorney Kevin Martingayle told WHRV..... In fact, they had a discussion the night before about whether or not she should take a pistol and hide it in her handbag -- and decided not to, ultimately, because there's a policy apparently against having any kind of weapons that are concealed ..." |

Yesterday, the Assembly Judiciary Committee passed a package of anti-gun bills heavily opposed by NRA and ANJRPC. Those measures now head to the Assembly floor where they await further consideration. Despite passing yesterday, this package of bills has a long way to go through the legislative process. The Senate hasnt even begun to act on them, so its critical that gun owners make their voices heard early and often. |

A study published by the CDC found that firearms are used in at least as many defensive uses as criminal uses. In 2008, about 300,000 people committed crimes with firearms and anywhere from 500,000- 3,000,000 people used firearms defensively. This means firearms do at least as much good as harm in the United States, but likely much more good. |

Anti-Second Amendment activists in Florida are working to have a state Constitutional Amendment placed on the ballot for 2020. The Amendment would ban future sales of almost all semi-automatic rifles, some semi-automatic shotguns, and require registration of those currently owned.
The problem with having people who are proudly ignorant about firearms technology draft a referendum, is they know just enough to create supremely stupid and ineffective laws. |

On May 31, DeWayne Craddock shot and killed 12 people at Virginia Beach. Armed with two handguns, he went on a rampage after recently resigning from his position in city government. So far, we know he was not fired or forced out. He was reportedly not a pleasure to be around and was written up for workplace issues by one of his victims, Kate Nixon, who worked as a supervisor. Nixon, who is survived by her husband Jason and her three daughters, said there was another man who gave her even a worse vibe, prompting her husband to suggest she conceal carry her firearm at work. She refused, not wanting to violate the gun-free policy the city had with government workers. |

After a childhood spent surrounded by gun violence in South Africa, Erin Thomas is, as she puts it, "anti-gun in a lot of ways."
Its a description seemingly at odds with Thomas newly-acquired permit to carry a concealed firearm.
But with what can feel like an endless cycle of school shootings in the news, Thomas, an assistant principal at two elementary schools in the Alpine School District, has been increasingly forced to consider a frightening question for educators: What would I do if it were my school? |

Fundamental human rights are not created and granted by governments. They are inherent and adhere to all of us as individuals. As was made clear in the Declaration of Independence, the proper function of government is to protect human rights: they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men.
Rights, as such, can neither be granted nor taken away. They can only be protected or be violated. |

If you are the sort of person who feels compelled to demand new gun control laws after a mass shooting, you have several options. You can keep your recommendations vague, letting your audience fill in the blanks; push the policies you always push, regardless of whether they have anything to do with the latest outrage; or latch onto a detail of that crime, inflating its importance to support a seemingly germane solution. |

Battle lines are drawn. The NRA is the target du jour of the litany of Democratic presidential candidates, vying for the boldest denouncement of the millions of armed, peaceful and law-abiding citizens in America. Six million strong, this large sector of the American public is an easy target for these bold politicians to threaten fearlessly; after all, they are law-abiding.

Many people dont realize that the Second Amendment at its core the right to keep and bear arms also applies to edged weaponry. The progressive left is chipping away at knife rights, just as much as it is chipping away at gun rights these days. However, just because you dont see coverage on the mainstream media, dont be fooled into thinking that no one is speaking out against the onslaught of illegal laws affecting law-abiding, knife owners. |

Gun control or restrictions will not stop the evil intentions of a heart. Emotional arguments about mass shootings and the banning of semi-automatic weapons and high capacity ammunition clips as a solution is senseless. We all know whether we want to admit it or not that taking away or limiting access to guns and ammo for law-abiding citizens will do nothing to stop gun violence. Making drugs illegal has not stopped the flow of drugs or the deaths associated with it. Im not advocating for making drugs legal; however, but where there is a will there is a way, and if there is money to be made a way will be found. |

President Trump won the White House because he actually listened to Americans like you and me.
And right now, we need him to listen to us before he does something DRASTIC again.
Following a report that the killer in the Virginia Beach shooting used a firearms suppressor, the President has been considering banning what the media calls gun silencers.
We need to warn him that if he bans suppressors, not only will he be waging war on the Second Amendment, hell be waging war against his own political base.
After all, because of the Presidents actions, gun owners in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Iowa, Florida, and other must-win states may not show up to vote for him again in 2020. |

Pretty much every basic firearm class will cover how to grip the gun properly. You can find tons of articles and YouTube videos that cover this as well. But this one I came across the other day from Active Self Protection dives deep into the science of gripping a handgun and controlling the recoil. I found it to be pretty interesting and figured Id share it here. And as a bonus video, here is one on how hard to grip your gun. This is actually the video I came across that lead me to the video above. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin Historical Review of Pennsylvania. [Note: This sentence was often quoted in the Revolutionary period. It occurs even so early as November, 1755, in an answer by the Assembly of Pennsylvania to the Governor, and forms the motto of Franklin's "Historical Review," 1759, appearing also in the body of the work. Frothingham: Rise of the Republic of the United States, p. 413. ] |
