Democrats in Texas are using a fatal shooting in Austin to encourage Gov. Greg Abbott to veto legislation allowing permitless carry of firearms in the state, but a look at the suspects in that incident shows a significant disconnect between politics and reality.

According to the Austin American-Statesman, 13 people were wounded and one New York tourist was killed in the June 11 shooting.

The focus of hunting generally falls naturally on firearms. The next level finds debate over the best ammunition, then perhaps optics, and finally camouflage. Yet, when a harvest is made, there is no and I mean no replacement for a quality knife. To that end, heres one of our recent favorites. Its a blade that can cover everything from deer to small game and still works handily on trout and birds as well. Meet the CRKT HuntN Fisch knife.

Gov. John Bel Edwards is looking closely at a bill that would allow most people to be able to carry their firearms concealed without taking a training course but the bills chances of being signed into law are looking slim-to-none.

My position on this has not changed, said Edwards during a recent interview. A law enforcement officer doesnt want to discover someone with whom theyre engaging has a firearm for the first time while they are actually searching them and that leads a lot of problems.

Several weeks ago, President Biden made waves in the gun control drama with his announcement of a series of executive orders and his nomination of David Chipman to be the director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF). As former acting director of the ATF, I commend the president for acknowledging that the agency needs a Senate-confirmed leader. I have nothing personal against Chipman; I worked with him, and I respect and will always defend his right to express his position on firearms. But the hard-working patriots who staff this vital law enforcement and regulatory agency deserve, and the public served by ATF needs, a less politically biased and more mission-focused director than the nominee.

One of the most popular handgun cartridges available on the market today, the .380 Automatic Colt Pistol (ACP) is an easy-to-carry self-defense cartridge. With a variety of small, lightweight compact pistols chambered in this caliber, its mild recoil and minimal muzzle blast make it a popular choice among those who carry concealed, police officers looking for a capable back-up gun, and general backyard plinkers and target shooters.

Typical .380 ammunition, also called .380 Auto ammo, features an 85-95 grain (gr) bullet that measures .355 inch in diameter and 0.984 inch in cartridge length.

Theres no doubt about it Alaskans like their guns. But theres only so much you can do with a gun without bullets. And this past year, those have been harder than ever to come by. Alaska and the rest of the U.S. are deep in an ammunition shortage, likely due to a confluence of current events and production setbacks.

While running for president, Joe Biden said repeatedly that hed act as a check on the radicals within his own party. When he became president, however, Biden quickly invited those radicals to serve alongside him in his cabinet. Despite his rhetoric of inclusion, there is not a single person on Bidens team who is committed to protecting the Second Amendmentand, worse, there are many who not only favor draconian restrictions upon the right to bear arms, but who were selected precisely because they favor such infringements. Here, as elsewhere, our forty-sixth president is proving the old adage that where politics is concerned, there is little truth in advertising.

A majority of House Republicans are vowing to kill a new Biden plan to tax and regulate one of the nations most popular firearms for target practice and hunting, claiming it discriminates against disabled veterans and would make all owners felons overnight. Led by Second Amendment advocate Rep. Richard Hudson, 141 Republicans (and likely more to come) are targeting a revived rule from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives backed by the Justice Department to turn AR-style pistols into expensive, hard to get guns.

Walther PDP vs Beretta APX in a 15+1 Shootout

The first time I set eyes on the Walther PDP, the feature that most immediately stuck out to me was the slide serrations and just how aggressive they were. After receiving the gun, putting it through its paces, and adopting it as my new EDC, I have to say that the feature still impresses me. Of course, its human nature to categorize and compare, and the closest comparison to me was the Beretta APX based on that slide alone. When I saw that we had an APX Centurion in the Guns.com Vault, I thought this must be the sign I was looking for to finally compare these two fine firearms. I was very familiar with the PDP to start this review, but I had never fired the Beretta APX. Little did I know, I was in for a few surprises.

Max Misch was charged in February 2019 with illegal possession of the high-capacity magazines. When a lower court judge refused to throw out the cases, he appealed to the Vermont Supreme Court, arguing that the law violated the Vermont Constitution. However, the state Supreme Court ruled against him earlier this year.

Now, Frederick Bragdon, a public defender representing Misch, said during a hearing Monday held via video from Bennington County Superior criminal court that he plans to argue that the state law limiting the size of ammunition magazines violates the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.
