The scheduled speaker didnt make it. Neither did an invited legislator. And, a planned march to the Clark County Courthouse didn't happen either. Yet, the 15 or so attendees of a Second Amendment rally at Big Four Station Park in Jeffersonville on Saturday afternoon still stood together with one mind and spoke out as a unified group about their right to bear arms. |

The biggest group of physicians in the US called for a ban on assault weapons this week, reiterating that gun violence is a serious public health crisis and decrying proposals by the Trump administration to arm school teachers. Though many members of the American Medical Association support or own guns, the group voted overwhelmingly on Tuesday to adopt nearly a dozen gun control measures during an annual policymaking meeting. The proposals include prohibiting gun and ammo purchases by people who are younger than 21. It has been frustrating that we have seen so little action from either state or federal legislators, said outgoing AMA President Dr. David Barbe. |

Two gunmen opened fire at an all-night arts and music festival early Sunday morning, sending people running over each other in the scramble to safety, authorities said. One suspect was killed and 22 people were injured.
The shots rang out around 2:45 a.m. during the Art All Night Trenton festival that showcases local art, music, food and films. Onofri said a 33-year-old man was killed, apparently by police, and the second suspect is in custody.
Submitter's note: I will give you 1000 to 1 odds that these were not NRA members. NJ has some of the strictest gun control laws in the country, but they don't stop the illegal use of guns. Gun laws only restrict law abiding citizens. They have no affect on criminals. |

A fascinating story in Fridays Chicago Tribune speaks volumes to the ability of legally-armed citizens in Illinois to defend themselves and stay within the law, while perhaps unintentionally letting the air out of traditional arguments by anti-gunners that concealed carry laws might lead to senseless violence.
According to the Tribune story, State Police Lt. Matthew Boerwinkle observed, You rarely hear of an instance where a CCL holder is using their firearm in an unlawful manner. Theyre generally law-abiding citizens, and theyve gone to great lengths to get to where theyre at to have a CCL. And theyve taken training to get there. |

Carey McWilliams keeps a lot of guns in his Fargo home, from shotguns and rifles for hunting, to handguns, which he names after his old seeing eye dogs. This is Davis, a .45, and this one is loaded, too, McWilliams said as he pulled the handgun from a nightstand next to his bed in a darkened room. Williams didnt need a light to find the gun. Hes been totally blind since he was a child. But hes held a North Dakota concealed-carry permit for 17 years and believes he is the countrys first such permit holder. |

The 5th annual Flag Day Second Amendment Rally drew hundreds to talk about how to defend your second amendment rights. Event Committee Chairman Dave Kopacz told 22News, when it comes to gun control policy in the U.S.---it's against the law, saying, the second amendment "clearly states, 'shall not be infringed.'" "So, I'm seeking 100% non-compliance with that nonsense and we're bringing the message out to the people. We want them to assert their rights and do it peacefully," said Kopacz. |

Members of several gun rights and hunting groups are asking the Oregon Supreme Court to change the ballot title for an initiative that would require owners to store the weapons with trigger locks or in a locked container. The proposal would also require owners to directly supervise any child using a gun and report lost or stolen firearms to the police within 24 hours of when they knew, or should have known, it was missing. |
