I wonder which of the multitude of proposed new freedom-reduction laws would have prevented these young men from shooting someone 16 times? Is there any law that hasn't already been created that will strike fear into these fearless killers and just make them play nice from now on? I don't think so! No law, no jail, no prison time, no parol, no community will change their behavior. Only the fear of instant death gives them pause. That is the only thing some people understand, and respond to. |

A radar-like "weapons scanner" that is effective at 50 feet. Without the target of the search being aware he or she is being scanned. According to the Federal agency developing this thing: "...our system doesn't require a cooperative subject." A legal expert summed it up nicely: "In our fear of crime and terrorism, we are giving up so many freedoms we haven't thought about."

"The Brady anti-gun law has resulted in denial of a firearms purchase to a former policeman who is an honored war veteran. Why? A juvenile record from 42 years ago that was supposed to be 'sealed' nonetheless came back to deny him the right to buy a gun for his wifes protection."

"The attack occurred May 20 during a baseball game at a relative's home, said Police Chief Robert Duffy. The 3-year-old threw a stone at the older child, who then hit the boy with a brick and repeatedly struck him with a wooden, full-size baseball bat, Duffy said."
~Good thing it wasn't a gun. Somebody could've *really* gotten hurt. |

New York Times -- As efforts focus on drug smuggling from Mexico to the U.S., gun smuggling is becoming a problem in the opposite direction.
--Of course. This is what happens when things are outlawed: The outlaws use it to their advantage. Want to put an end to "smuggling"? Make it legal. |
