"DefenseReview has covered the 6.8 SPC (a.k.a. 6.8 Remington SPC a.k.a. 6.8x43mm SPC a.k.a. 6.8mm Remington SPC a.k.a. 6.8mm SPC) round for quite some time now. We're a proponent of the cartridge, due to its superior efficacy over 5.56x45mm NATO (5.56mm NATO)/.223 Rem. within its (6.8 SPC) operational envelope of 400-500 yards, its grassroots-level development history, and the support it's garnered inside the U.S. Army Special Forces (SF) community and general SOCOM/Special Operations (SPECOPS) community." ... |

When questioned about the reasoning behind the purchase of two Wilson close quarter combat 45-caliber pistols, two Benelli semiautomatic M4 tactical shotguns, and one Scout semiautomatic rifle, a friend told In Touch Weekly, 'Spencer does have a few enemies.'"
"However, who needs five guns, honestly? Does he really think that his 'enemies' are going to come after him and Heidi? "Gov. Paterson wants to give the [NRA] - of all people - a state-sanctioned role in training would-be gun owners in New York."
"Paterson is proposing a gun safety bill that, in part, requires buyers of guns to first take a firearms safety course."
"A clause tucked away in the bill says the program must meet or exceed the standards of 'the home firearms safety course as approved by the [NRA]' or another course approved by the state police."
"While the NRA training program is well-regarded, its inclusion in the bill has angered a number of legislative Democrats and anti-gun activists."

At least a dozen people are hurt after vehicles veered onto sidewalks in two accidents in bustling Manhattan neighborhoods.
Authorities say a 60-year-old driver was pulling out of a Chinatown parking spot Friday when he accidentally hit the accelerator instead of the brakes. His car mounted the curb and hit people sitting on a bench and walking on the sidewalk.
Two victims are hospitalized in serious but stable condition. Five others were treated for less serious injuries. The driver isn't expected to face criminal charges.
Police say another vehicle hit five or six people and a building later Friday in the Garment District. They say the crash inflicted minor injuries.
Police are interviewing the driver. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin Historical Review of Pennsylvania. [Note: This sentence was often quoted in the Revolutionary period. It occurs even so early as November, 1755, in an answer by the Assembly of Pennsylvania to the Governor, and forms the motto of Franklin's "Historical Review," 1759, appearing also in the body of the work. Frothingham: Rise of the Republic of the United States, p. 413. ] |
