Is your school board as dedicated to protecting the students as the School Resource Officer? An SRO spoke up, and I've heard this from other school staff before.
'The only thing that makes getting shot worthwhile is knowing that the kids will be safe if Im attacked.'
That SRO isn't alone. A lot of us feel that way too. |

For the fourth Congress in a row, U.S. Rep. Debbie Dingell, D-Ann Arbor, is taking on the gun industry.
Specifically, she's reintroducing a piece of legislation that would simply remove from the Consumer Product Safety Act passed a half-century ago an exemption for firearms, meaning the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) would be able to regulate them for safety defects through warnings and recalls.
Dingell's husband, the late U.S. Rep. John Dingell, D-Dearborn, who was known to have been a member of the National Rifle Association (NRA), supported the exemption. After he retired from Congress and Dingell took the seat he had held, she made no bones about her desire to get rid of the exemption, first filing a bill in 2018. |

This is my insight into the gun violence problem that plagues the U.S. today. I hope it will spur introspection into why we have such a severe problem and thoughts on what to do about it.
Obviously, the problem stems from the Supreme Courts decision that the Second Amendment protects the right of an individual to keep and bear arms for the purpose of self-defense. In other words, the court has given all citizens who legally own a firearm the right to shoot someone if they feel threatened.
I believe this permission is referred to by politicians as gun rights. How has the exercise of gun rights worked in our society? Not very well, to put it mildly. |

Gavin Newsoms new campaign for a 28th Amendment is the most important political idea in the country today.
But you wouldnt know that from reading media reports following the California governors proposal to enshrine four popular gun control measures in a new federal constitutional amendment.
Instead, political opponents dismissed Newsoms proposal as at best a waste of time, and at worst a dereliction of gubernatorial duty. Reporters called it a mere tactic in his rhetorical and legal war with the red states. Republicans labeled it a distraction from his job running California. |

New firearms regulations in Minnesota are now in effect after passage in the state Legislature during the recently concluded 2023 session, signed by Gov. Tim Walz.
Pretty much along party lines, the majority Democrats in the House, and particularly in the Senate, were able to craft two important pieces of legislation. |

This vote was disappointing, if not expected. We are deeply troubled by the unchecked growth of the administrative state that threatens our fundamental rights and liberty, said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF Senior Vice President and General Counsel. |

House Bill 2005, as passed, restricts private individuals from making their own firearms for personal use. It also prohibits private individuals from possessing certain unregulated components, including raw materials broadly defined as a casting or machined body, commonly used by hobbyists to make their own firearms. The use of these terms has already been found unconstitutionally vague by a court in Nevada. This confiscatory bill also bans possession of existing, legal, home-built firearms unless owners take them to Federal Firearms Licensees to have them serialized and recorded. For centuries, Americans have been lawfully assembling their own firearms. |

The entire purpose of our lawsuit was to gain clarity on the current state of the law in Idaho for Idahos many hundreds of thousands of gun owners," Herndon said in a statement written on campaign letterhead.
He claimed the ruling allows the government to ban gun owners from a site, such as a farmers market, by leasing it to that group and allowing them to ban it instead.
If a city or county in Idaho is against the Second Amendment, they now have a way to keep gun owners out of their city streets, public parks and county fairs, Herndon said. Simply lease the public ground to a private entity and let them ban guns from public property in Idaho." |

A few months ago, I reviewed the Stoeger STR-9 Compact 9mm pistol, which earned honors as the NRA Gun of the Week and other firearms awards. It had an excellent score against my ten criteria and performed very well in my field test. As a reminder, Stoeger Industries is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Benelli, which is owned by Beretta, and is a manufacturer and importer of firearms into the U.S., with headquarters in Maryland. Their shotguns and STR series handguns have proven reliable and affordable. Stoeger entered the U.S. 9mm handgun market in 2019 by launching the STR-9 series of semi-automatic pistols manufactured in Turkey. |

Being a big fan of a government monopoly is a recurring theme for Klepper, having been the front man for other hit pieces including Jordan Klepper Solves Guns and Jordan Klepper Debunks the Good Guy with a Gun Argument. That hes done neither doesnt seem to concern enthusiastic fans who dont seem to realize or care that its their rights, too, that hes encouraging scorn for. Thats right in line with parent company Paramounts global media objectives.
As usual, the attempt in his latest venture is to make undisguised progressive social commentary palatable to viewers by wrapping it in whats supposed to be humor, or in this case, by smugly making fun of people Klepper and the target audience like to feel superior to. |

The Third Circuit Court of Appeals has partially permitted a New Jersey state ban on concealed carry of firearms in sensitive places, including libraries, museums, and restaurants. This comes after a lower court partially blocked the law, which was passed following the Supreme Courts ruling recognizing an individuals right to carry a handgun for self-defense outside the home.
The Third Circuit did not uphold other components of the law, like the liability insurance requirement for public firearm carry. This decision is an interim measure while more expedited proceedings take place, countering the objections of a group of gun owners who disputed the regulations. |

Gun control activists have been broadly unsuccessful on the legislative and judicial fronts, forcing them to devise alternative methods of curtailing the Second Amendment rights of Americans. One tactic involves attempting to influence the career trajectory of future lawyers.
A new campaign seeks to persuade law students to pledge never to represent the firearms industry or other pro-gun interests in their future legal practice. It is yet another example of how anti-gun activists are increasingly looking to achieve their ultimate policy ends by undermining the industry itself, as well as attempting to delegitimize the entire culture of responsible gun ownership common to much of American society. |

In complete disregard for Americans Constitutional rights, Joe Biden enacted an unlawful rule banning stabilizing braces known commonly as pistol braces allowing the ATF the full authority under the law to prosecute millions of Americans for firearms they purchased perfectly legally.
And as law-abiding Kansans get the book thrown at them under this Second Amendment power grab, the presidents own son commits an actual gun violation felony and he walks away with a sweetheart deal. I ask you what type of message does that send to law abiding Americans, gun owners across the country? This is wrong. |

One of these is Sen. Heidi Campbell, D-Nashville, who told me she took along a list of 17 specific recommendations for better gun safety. To be clear, the governor has not adopted or endorse her list, but it includes expanded background checks to require any sale or transfer of a firearm to be done through a federally-licensed gun dealer; limiting magazine capacity to 10 rounds or less; banning the sale of assault weapons; banning so-called bump stocks; requiring all guns in boats and vehicles to be securely locked and hidden from view; and repealing of the Lee administration's controversial permitless carry law. |

In June 2021, the ATF initiated a proposed rulemaking which proposed amendments regarding the definition of the term rifle. Ultimately, the Final Rule makes it such that certain pistols equipped with stabilizing braces are now subject to heightened regulation under the NFA and the GCA.
Plaintiff alleges that regulation is unconstitutional and otherwise violates the Administrative Procedure Act, or APA. He has moved for a nationwide temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction. |

We have seen pistol braces used to commit horrific mass shootings and we must do more to keep our schools, churches and public spaces safe from gun violence without infringing on the constitutional rights of law-abiding Americans. I am confident the Rule strikes this important balance.
Let me make this clear: this ATF Rule does not take away anyones Second Amendment rights and does not ban pistol braces in any form. Rather, the Rule clarifies that firearm manufacturers and dealers cannot circumvent life-saving protections that Congress implemented almost a century ago. This Rule does nothing to prevent any law-abiding gun owner from purchasing and keeping a pistol brace.

The Senate voted against undoing President Joe Bidens pistol-brace ban. That probably wont have a direct practical impact on the bans fate, but it will have a political and, potentially, even a legal one.
On Thursday, the Senate voted 50 to 49 against a resolution to repeal the ATFs brace rule. The vote was entirely along party lines. Not a single Democrat or Republican crossed over in either direction.
Now, it might not seem like a Senate controlled by the party of the President that instituted the policy refusing to undo it isnt that unexpected. But there are a couple of reasons this move was surprising. |

But if Hunter Biden has a guardian angel in the federal government, the leading candidate is not Attorney General Merrick Garland its Justice Clarence Thomas. The justices 2022 majority opinion in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association Inc. v. Bruen expanding the scope of Second Amendment protections created uncertainty about the constitutionality of the felony gun charge against the younger Biden. That might well have been what deterred prosecutors from seeking a conviction.

Delaware Republicans are pushing for a constitutional amendment that would deny bail for criminal suspects who use firearms while committing a felony.
The proposal, which is expected to be introduced in next year's legislative session, calls for amending the state's Constitution to deny bail to suspects charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
The bill's sponsor, Rep. Danny Short, R-Seaford, said unlike many other firearms-related bills introduced in the General Assembly in recent years, the proposed amendment "targets the individuals who are actually perpetrating gun crimes." |

Erin Brown recalls all too well the dreadful call he received from his mother in 2021, while in the thralls of the covid-19 pandemic: His cousin his "brother" had been shot six times.
Although it was not the first time gun violence had reached the then-17-year-old Brown's social circle, that incident was different. It involved family. So it hit Brown harder, even though his cousin, then 21, survived the gunshot wounds.
Now, while Brown works toward high school graduation and a career in graphic design, he said, he stays indoors in his neighborhood, the Lower 9th Ward. The frequent accidental shootings there frighten him the most. The gunfire outside his windows makes it hard to sleep. |

Where the Answers are Made Up and the Second Amendment Doesnt Matter

President Joe Biden spoke to a collection of political donors as hes gearing up his 2024 re-election campaign and used his gun control grindstone to churn out well-worn and discredited Second Amendment tropes. The problem is its all malarky. No kidding, man.

President Joe Bidens first presidential speechwriter jumped ship after one year and the gun control lies didnt stop. Media outlets finally began fact-checking the presidents repeated false claims even as he continued reciting them. The truth demonstrates hes clearly wrong, yet here we are again. The more things change the more they stay the same.
President Biden has a problem lying about gun control and the firearm industry. His speech on gun control at the National Safety Communities Summit in Hartford, Conn., was just the latest example. |
