"A bill introduced in March by Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., would create a National Commission on Capital Representation and withhold federal funds from states not complying with standards for capital representation. The bill also would provide capital defense incentive grants and resource grants for capital cases." ~~~~ More federal control.
KABA NOTE: Perhaps Senator Leahy would like to create a federal task force charged with overseeing Oath Violations on the part of government employees in all levels of government nationwide, as well. |

"A stray police bullet hit Trevon Williams earlier this week as officers were chasing suspects allegedly involved in drug activity."
Will the gun-haters blame the dysfunctional "war" on some drugs, or will they blame that dastardly gun?
Actually, it looks like local residents are simply looking for answers as to the particulars of the situation. The boy is reportedly "cling[ing] to life."
If a citizen's bullet strayed into a young boy's body, chances are good he'd be charged. |

"A 6-year-old girl was shot in the shoulder during a drive-by shooting on Detroit's west side early Sunday morning." She was hit in the shoulder, reportedly while in her own home.
Responsible gun owners ache when we hear these horror stories just as much as gun haters do. We have families and hearts, too.
We just don't think it makes much sense to expect us to walk around like sitting ducks with bad people on the loose.
Anti-gunners see 911 as their best choice; we see it as backup. |

An Australian man shot his wife to death, apparently in a custody-exchange involving their two year old girl.
Though the report doesn't mention the type of gun used, it's unlikely the woman would have walked right up to him if he was carrying a long gun. But it couldn't have been a handgun, because they are banned in Australia -- and there are no guns anywhere that guns are banned. Just ask the Police Chief in Washington, D.C. |

GRNC alert: A North Carolina Senator has lied directly in attempt to put a lid on public dissemination of information regarding his socialist anti-rights maneuvers.
We need to make them feel the heat. SB 680 will probably be on the senate floor soon.
BTW I was one of the people prevented from taping an open meeting of the NC Senate Finance Committee. Check out the entire open meetings law at http://www.ncpress.com/openmeetingslaw.html Especially note section 143-318.14 Broadcasting or recording meetings. |

"Every city, county, state, and the federal government keeps a virtually hidden, SECOND SET OF BOOKS which track the multi-TRILLION dollars in tangible wealth they have built up in these virtually hidden portfolios initially coming from investing YOUR skimmed tax money for over 50 years in everything from real estate to the stock market."
--One of the (biggest) financial shell games played w/ our money. The amount of money available to corrupt any "sticky wheel" in the chain is so unlimited, the potential payoffs approach the ludricous. |

In the town of Udagamandalam in the Nilgiris district of India, a priest has been arrested for possessing "unlicensed" guns and for killing a deer. The police raided his home and confiscated 4 guns and some deer meet after being "tipped off" by some dogooder.
The police, of course, used guns to enforce their anti-gun law. That's the way it works. |

An upscale neighborhood in Florida has been plagued with vultures, some of them doing damage to property. One resident got himself a permit and begin dispatching said birds and hanging their carcasses in the trees where others have been roosting "to frighten the remaining roosting population, a tactic federal officials say has worked in other parts of Florida bothered by vultures."
Many other non-lethal methods were attempted, but to no avail. |

"Backed by national gun rights advocates, a local gun show promoter and two gun exhibitors filed suit in federal court yesterday, challenging the legality of a new Montgomery County ordinance aimed at restricting gun shows."
"The ordinance cuts off county funding for any group that allows the display and sale of guns on its property, restricts where gun shows can be held and imposes tough new regulations on gun show promoters."
"The lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court in Greenbelt, alleges that the ordinance unconstitutionally infringes on commercial and noncommercial free speech rights. It also alleges that the ordinance violates a state law that preempts counties from enacting certain kinds of gun control measures. In addition, the suit argues that the council's action infringes on the municipal power of Gaithersburg to enact its own laws by effectively banning gun shows within the city's borders." |

NRA research coordinator Paul Blackman said Corlin's platform is a 'smoke screen' and the AMA is delving into gun control.
Dr. Robert Woolley, a Minnesota physician who belongs to both the AMA and the NRA, fears Blackman is right and said he probably will not renew his AMA membership next year. ~~~~ Seems the AMA is already having membership problems. Doctors for Senseble Gun Laws is mentioned: http://www.KeepAndBearArms.com/DSGL |
