Last Tuesday, a 66-year-old man from Illinois armed with a semi-automatic assault rifle showed up at a baseball field in Virginia to kill GOP lawmakers and others who were practicing for their annual baseball game. The only police personnel that were at the location were there to provide security for the Republican Whip Rep. Steven Scalise of Louisiana. If they had not been there, there would have been a lot more people shot or killed, according to those who were involved.

Back in May, a heavily armed man was arrested trying to bring several guns, knives, body armor, and other handheld weapons into Phoenix Comic Con. His mission: kill former Green Power Ranger Jason David Frank. No, seriously. Luckily, the man was captured before he could cause any harm, but the incident did result in Phoenix Comic Con banning all cosplay weapons and prop weapons from the convention floor and forcing vendors who sell them to wrap them up, where they needed to remain for the duration of the show.

The question of whether armed citizens deter violent crime or exacerbate it has been controversial in academia since at least the mid-1990snot to mention the debate it continues to fuel in American politics. Conflicting studies have informed polarized lawmakers in the parallel battles over gun regulation. The case for less restrictive gun laws generally boils down to this: Law-abiding citizens have a right to protect themselves and their communities, full stop.

Fox News host Tucker Carlson took on a gun control advocate on his show Friday over Seattles recent gun tax and its apparent failure to quell gun violence, and instead, backfire completely. In 2015, Seattle implemented a gun violence tax, which aimed to reduce the amount of gun violence in its city limits. The tax imposed a $25 tax for every firearm purchased and a $.05 tax for every round of ammunition bought within the city limits. The tax has hurt small business owners in the city that own gun stores and has even forced many of them to lay off workers, move to the suburbs or completely shutdown altogether.

Most people think the .22LR is best reserved for plinking or shooting small game. You know, squirrel rifles or mouse guns. Granted, there is the old saw that a hit with a .22LR is better than a miss with a .44 Magnum or any gun is better than none, both of which are true. Its also true that the typical carry calibers -.380 through .45ACP are the preferred calibers for good reason. |

Maybe Seattle City Councilman Tim Burgess thought of the adage that when you tax something you get less of it when in 2015 he sought to fight gun crime by introducing a bill placing a $25 tax on every gun sold and a 5-cent tax on every bullet sold. There is another adage he forgot, and a true one -- more guns mean less crime.

Hogue expanded its lineup of gear bags to include a number of options in the popular flat dark earth finish, giving shooters the opportunity to have gun cases and gear packs that are finished in the color necessary for their success in the field. Hogue took a different approach with their line of gear accessories. Rather than rebranding another company's bag, Hogue launched its own division of textile creators and tries to provide high-quality gear that is proven through design and field testing. Each bag and gun case sold by the company is made in the USA and is checked for quality.
