SC: South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson says mandates from cities and municipals requiring face masks are legal.

Some people have asked if the ordinance violates the constitutional right to carry a gun if you're wearing a mask.

"We can find no prohibition on the carrying of a firearm if you're lawfully allowed to do so under the CWP law. Also you have a Second Amendment right and a state law that allows you to have a CWP which trumps a city ordinance so there's no conflict there. This ordinance doesn't prohibit you from carrying a firearm. This mandates that you wear a facial covering or mask in certain businesses. There is no constitutional crisis there with the Second Amendment and if there was, I'd promise you I would jump into it and I would defend anyone's right to be able to lawfully carry a gun."

Under normal circumstances, it is against the law to carry a gun while wearing a mask. However, that law is being suspended until February 2021.

The Nash County sheriffs office has been getting many calls lately from people wondering what the rules are.

According to the Guilford County Sheriffs Office, if you have a valid concealed carry handgun permit, it is legal to carry a concealed handgun while wearing a mask, so long as you're wearing the mask to protect yourself or others from COVID-19.

The National Rifle Association is pleased to inform law-abiding Indiana gun owners that, beginning July 1, NRA-backed changes to existing law will go into effect allowing state residents to obtain a 5-year license to carry a handgun free of charge.

Removing barriers so that all law-abiding Hoosiers can carry a firearm for self-defense is a significant victory, said John Weber, NRA state director for Indiana. Every law-abiding citizen, regardless of race, color, creed or tax bracket, should have access to the right of self-defense and no government should charge for the right to exercise a fundamental freedom

Carrying long guns in public is legal in Georgia, by the way (with exceptions for a few places like courts and schools). Fox does not actually accuse any of these men of breaking any laws. But they clearly intend viewers to see these men as a threatand not just because they have put up barricades and hope to shut out the police, but because they're bearing arms. By contrast, when a predominantly white group of protesters showed up at Michigan's capitol in April to protest the state's COVID-19 rules, Fox's coverage was reasonably neutral and factual, giving voice to critics but pointing out that guns were legally allowed in the state Capitol building.

LaKasha Robbins is a relatively new shooter and gun owner. Shes had a license for several years, but things really started moving when she and some other female 2A activists in Massachusetts, started Mass Women Gun Owners (MWGO). Shes got some computer experience and organization skills, so she volunteered to help get materials and information out. She and the others started the group just to exchange ideas about self-defense, the womans right to protection, and how to figure out what carry methods work well for women. Even though shes isnt fond of public speaking, shes testified in DC and Boston.

The Primary Arms SLx MD-25 should be in the argument for topping off your AR.
We had the privilege of taking Primary Arms SLx MD-25 to the range and it got us thinking: What features do you look for in your optics?

We thought you should know about the optic, and we're more than willing to share some specs while pointing out the best features.

Late last night, the Senate Budget and Fiscal Review Committee passed Assembly Bill 88, relating to the public safety budget. City council unanimously adopted an ordinance that bans firearms on city property at the public hearing held on Saturday.

The ordinance was made possible by a new state law adopted during the Virginia General Assemblys 2020 session that permits localities to regulate firearms in public spaces. The ordinance and state law will both go into effect on July 1. Alexandria is the first jurisdiction in Virginia to adopt such an ordinance under the new law, according to a city news release.

The Indiana Republican just introduced the Reforming Qualified Immunity Act, a bill that would reduce the liability shield for all government employees, not just police officers, back to the original standard, which only protected them in a narrowly-defined set of cases. The current qualified immunity standard, created via judicial decree, makes it extremely difficult to sue any government official who violates your constitutional rights, unless there is an exactly identical case available as precedent.

I was pleased to read that Gary Marbut attended one of the Black Lives Matter protests at the courthouse. Now, as an expert on the Second Amendment, I hope he can educate Henry Fowler on the meaning of that amendment. In his June 8 letter to the Missoulian, Mr. Fowler emphasized that Police killings of unarmed blacks accounted for approximately 0.6% of homicides of blacks. Although he didnt write this in his letter, this seems to suggest he is saying that is acceptable for police to kill armed Black people.

Pennsylvania is one step closer to joining the growing list of states which are protecting Second Amendment rights when a state of emergency is declared.

On Wednesday, June 24, the House passed House Bill 1747 by Rep. Matthew Dowling on a vote of 127 to 74. The bill prevents the Governor from suspending or limiting the sale, dispensing or transportation of firearms during a declared emergency. It would also remove the carry prohibitions that exist with exemptions.

During the regular legislative session, four bills supporting our Second Amendment rights were led through the legislature by Republican authors. Still, they enjoyed support from members of both parties throughout the legislative process. For the first time in his tenure, Gov. John Bel Edwards joined these legislators and established a public position on specific Second Amendment legislation by signing these four pro-2A bills.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
The right of the citizens to keep and bear arms has justly been considered, as the palladium of the liberties of a republic; since it offers a strong moral check against the usurpation and arbitrary power of rulers; and will generally, even if these are successful in the first instance, enable the people to resist and triumph over them. Joseph Story, Commentaries on the Constitution of the United States; With a Preliminary Review of the Constitutional History of the Colonies and States before the Adoption of the Constitution [Boston, 1833].
