"The government is using paperwork errors as small as the abbreviation of a city name to shut down some of the nation's longest-serving gun shops, and 2nd Amendment advocates fear the right to bear arms will mean little if there's no way to obtain a gun."
"'No good deed goes unpunished,' Larry Pratt, of Gun Owners of America, told WND while confirming that as recently as 15 or 20 years ago, there were 250,000 licensed gun dealers in the United States."
"Today, the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives told WND, there are 108,381, and if more cases involving dealers such as Red's Trading Post of Twin Falls, Idaho, develop, that number will plummet quickly." ... |

"A Second Amendment group is drafting federal legislation that would prevent anti-gun demonstrators from blocking access to gun stores."
"The proposed legislation stems from recent protests at a suburban Chicago gun shop."
"On Saturday, the Rev. Jesse Jackson and a Catholic priest, Michael Pfleger, were arrested and charged with trespassing for blocking the entrance to Chuck's Gun Shop in Riverdale."
"Pfleger said they've targeted Chuck's Gun Shop because it sells 'more guns...than any place else in the state.' The store is near Chicago, where gun sales are banned, and Jackson says its proximity to the city provides gang members and criminals with easy access to firearms." ... |

"It was the right verdict that shouldn't have shocked anyone. Even the prosecutor wasn't surprised."
"At first blush, though, it may seem like Norman Borden got away with murder. The suburban West Palm Beach man emptied his gun into a car, killing two men, and a jury acquitted him of all charges."
"But Borden wasn't the typical assailant, and the men he shot were not innocent victims. The Jeep they were in almost ran Borden down before he opened fire. Officials say at least one of the three men inside was a known member of the violent street gang Sur 13 and had a baseball bat resting against his leg. All three were intent on beating a lesson into their neighbor, the lone survivor testified." ... |

"The City of Cleveland has a long anti-gun history. Prior to the successful passage of HB347, Cleveland imposed just about every anti-gun law possible. From gun registration to a so-called 'assault weapons' ban, Cleveland had them all."
"On March 14th, HB347 became law, and it made the gun laws uniform throughout the state. However, Cleveland saw this as an opportunity to flex their anti-gun muscles and are challenging HB347 in court."

It was created to stem the flow of illegal guns into cities and to repeal federal legislation that restricts local police from accessing federal trace data to see where guns used for illegal purposes are purchased the most."
"Brainard said he initially joined because he was told that the coalition's main goal was to 'get guns out of the hands of convicted felons.'" ... |

"An extra two million violent crimes a year are committed in Britain than previously thought because of a bizarre distortion in the Government's flagship crime figures, it was claimed yesterday."
"A former Home Office research expert said that across all types of crime, three million offences a year are excluded from the British Crime Survey (BCS)."
"The poll caps the number of times a victim can be targeted by an offender at five incidents a year." ...

"When I was 15, a friend of mine was mugged and stabbed in our local park in west London. He was pretty lucky, really: the knife missed an artery by two millimetres and, after a week in hospital, he was discharged, at which point he became a sort of local celebrity. Everyone wanted to talk to him. 'Is that the boy that got stabbed?' people would gasp, as if the Queen had just shown up. 'Do you know the boy who got stabbed?'"
"This was because things like that did not tend to happen around there, back then; when I say back then, it was only 12 years ago. Today, I rather imagine he would be told to dust himself down and get the hell on with it, because that sort of thing seems to happen, if not all the time, then all too often." ... |
