The standard AR-15 chambered in 5.56 NATO is truly Americas rifle and is a symbol of American ingenuity and freedom. Although the 5.56 NATO has proven itself in the jungles of Vietnam and deserts of Iraq, some gun owners wanted something more.

Few vintage .22s have the legendary reputation for tack-driving accuracy as Winchesters Model 52. It was discontinued in 1979, but whether in Sporter or Target trim, its still a byword among connoisseurs of bolt-action rimfires. The only drawback, of course, has been its premium price.

The ability to stabilize a spotting scope makes every hunter more effective, but its especially useful in the backcountry, where good optics anchored to a hunting tripod can save you many miles of hiking and many torturous feet of steep terrain. Tripods can also elevate your shooting skills. By providing a tall, extremely stable, and more adaptable alternative to a rifle-mounted bipod, a tripod allows shooters to stand, pan, and pivot in order to engage targets at a variety of elevations, distances, and directions.

The Los Angeles Times ran a column Monday in which an Oakland gun club leader suggests California liberals get uneasy when it comes to the idea of black folks being armed. The gun club leader, Nathan W. Jones, made his comment just days after the Supreme Court (SCOTUS) struck down New Yorks proper cause requirement for concealed carry permit issuance.

Philadelphia calls itself the City of Brotherly Love, but homicides hit a record last year, according to NPR, which said the city is maintaining that pace so far this year. Perhaps this explains why, according to a report in the Philadelphia Inquirer, The number of handguns purchased in the city more than doubled to nearly 50,000 in the two-year period ending in 2021.

Justice Thomas's majority opinion in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen may be the most important originalist opinion of all time. Its significance surpasses Heller, Crawford, and any other decision that came before it. Rather than trying to cram originalism into pre-existing standards--such as the tiers of scrutiny or a two-step test--Thomas starts from first principles.

As they battle over a 2018 Florida law that raised the minimum age from 18 to 21 to buy rifles and other long guns, attorneys for the state and the National Rifle Association are trying to use a new U.S. Supreme Court ruling to bolster their arguments. The Supreme Court on Thursday struck down a New York law that placed strict limits on carrying concealed weapons in public. Gun-control advocates have expressed concerns the decision could severely restrict states ability to regulate guns.

This is a very tumultuous and critical time in the life cycle of our Constitutional Republic. It was just a few weeks ago that I penned a missive titled "Constitutional Rights vs Ideological Rights for this conservative platform. Who would have ever thought how quickly that writing would come to fruition? I must admit, after last week's apoplectic meltdowns by the progressive socialist leftists I have to wonder if they have ever read the Constitution of these United States of America?

Laws can be interpreted many ways. We seek guidance from the court to know what is legal and what is not. The US Supreme Court has largely ignored the right to bear arms compared to the number of decisions the court has rendered in other areas. We dont have enough decisions to draw a clear map of where our rights begin and end. The court recently issued an opinion on the right to bear arms in public. This case redefined the legal landscape and gave us a few rules to go by. Lets look at the unanswered questions to see if we may draw further conclusions.

Diana Ross and the Supremes were one of the biggest Motown musical groups in the 1960s. By 1970 they went their separate ways, but this past week, their informal namesakes scored a mega-hit. Not singing catchy pop tunes, but by dancing in their black robes, singing glory and praise to the United States Constitution, making it great again.

The break of a trigger. The fall of the rifles striker. Wait a bita puff of dust. A scurrying prairie dog. A miss. But not by much, and the next .22LR round from the Bergara BMR Carbon rifle would be already on its way.

Whether you hunt whitetails in the hardwoods, elk in the mountains, or bears in the Alaskan bush, theres a hunting rifle for you. The landscape you plan to hunt, your hunting tactics, and the game youre chasing will all play a role in the rifle you choose. But so will personal taste. Your rifle defines in part who you are as a hunter, whether it is a practical beater that lives in your truck for much of the year, a handy lever action, or a pricey long-range hammer. Weve made that task a little easier by narrowing down the field to the best hunting rifles weve tested.

Review: Are Staccato Double-Stack 1911-Style Pistols Worth the Money?

Staccato pistols are hot right now. Wide-body 1911s in general are having a resurgence. But the real question is, are they worth it? I think this question boils down to a personality question. Are you a no-frills, function-over-form type of person? Or do you appreciate and are willing to pay for the finer things of life like a gourmet meal or fine alcohol.

Not So Secret .38 Wheel Gun: The Colt Agent

Introduced as a smaller version of the original Colt Cobra, the Agent was an interesting little six-shooter snub nose that has almost slipped through the cracks with collectors. Colt really pioneered the modern small-frame revolver when it introduced the Detective Special, fundamentally an abbreviated Police Positive Special with a 2-inch barrel, in 1927. Introduced at the height of Prohibition and the era of the great automobile-borne gangsters of the "Roaring Twenties," the Colt Detective soon became a hit and was successful enough to remain in production until 1995, which is one heck of a run.
