In remarks reminiscent of the promises of a former president who assured Americans they could keep their doctors and health care plans, Democratic presidential hopeful Rep. Eric Swalwell brought his gun control demagoguery to Debate Night No. 2, insisting, Keep your pistols, keep your rifles, keep your shotguns, but we can take the most dangerous weapons from the most dangerous people.

Near the end of Thursday evenings top tier debate between candidatesan evening that saw front-runner Joe Biden pounded by Sen. Kamala Harris on the race issuethe question of guns was raised and several Democrats took the bait. Thursday nights debate drew a larger audience than the Wednesday evening session with lower rung candidates.

Elmer Keith, Bill Jordan and Skeeter Skelton three icons of the firearms industry designed the .41 Remington Magnum cartridge and introduced it to the shooting public in April of 1964. The ammunition came with two distinct loads: one for law enforcement (those that the cartridge had originally been designed for) and one for hunting. Along with the release of this new magnum ammunition, the Smith & Wesson Model 57 revolver, which was chambered for the .41 Remington Magnum, hit the market. Two months later, in June of 1964, Smith & Wesson released the Model 58, a revolver chambered for the .41 Rem Mag that was specifically designed for police officers and other law enforcement.

Democrat presidential hopeful Eric Swalwell claims his confiscatory assault weapons ban would have prevented the December 14, 2012, attack on Sandy Hook Elementary School. He made this claim in response to a tweet by John Lott, wherein Lott asked why Swalwell was pushing gun controls that wouldnt have stopped one mass public shooting this century.

A 61-year-old Roosevelt, Wash., man was defending himself when he shot and killed a Pasco businessman, prosecutors say. Charges havent been filed against Mark Lessly Allen, 61, after an investigation showed Allen could make a strong argument that he was acting in self-defense during a fight with 59-year-old John Roger (JR) Swigart, Klickitat County Prosecutor David Quesnel said.

For some women, carrying a gun comes with complications. One national shooting organization aims to provide support. The Well Armed Woman has chapters in nearly every state, with five in Tennessee. The Piney Flats chapter started in 2015, and currently has about 30 rotating members. Up until maybe the last few years its been a really male-dominated sport and area, said Kim Sims, leader of the Piney Flats chapter. To go into a gun store even just to look at a gun is pretty intimidating.

If youve heard of Brazilian jiu-jitsu, mixed-martial arts or the UFC, the reason is Royce Gracie. In the early 1990s, his dominance of the octagon brought his familys style of jiu-jitsu into the American mainstream, and the martial art has become immensely popular around the world ever since. In addition to his hand-to-hand combat skills, Gracie is also a fan of firearms and the Second Amendment. Editor-in-Chief Ed Friedman sat down with Gracie to discuss his career, his love of freedom and his interest in guns.

Wednesdays AmmoLand article correcting a pro-gun writer on his presumption that the Second Amendment grants the right to keep and bear arms resonated with most of the readers commenting so far. They appear to share the clear understanding that no one in government gave us that right so it is not theirs to take away. Surprisingly though, a Facebook colleague has alerted us to a source that just doesnt get it: The White House.

Bernard Sanders has occupied a position on the left-wing fringe of American politics for over 30 years. However, he was, at times, a friend to those who lawfully and responsibly exercise their Second Amendment rights. That has changed, and Bernie has gone from a Second Amendment bro to just another extreme anti-Second Amendment zero.

Democratic candidates collectively came out for more gun control in the first debates of the 2020 election cycle, seemingly trying to one-up each other with stricter gun-grabbing policy proposals. Thanks to gun control activists centered around mass shootings, like March For Our Lives, even candidates who previously held conservative or moderate positions on Second Amendment rightslike Bernie Sanders, Joe Biden, and Kirsten Gillibrandseemed to be pulled left as they unveiled their new gun control talking points.

A California city is now a sanctuary city, but not for illegal immigrants. The City of Needles has declared itself a sanctuary city for gun owners. The desert town of about 5,000 people sits near the border of California and Arizona, just miles from Nevada and the city council recently unanimously approved the Second Amendment Sanctuary City declaration.

The fight for freedom is never easy. But, times of great change and challenge, help pull us together. Our fight for our rights, freedom and liberty begins and ends with all of us. These are tough times. Those who hate us call us vile names. Terrorist. Extremist. Youve heard them.

On Saturday July 6, the newly renovated Cody Firearms Museum at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West will reopen its doors to the public. It's long been home to one of the largest firearm collections in the world. The museum is trying to move away from just a display of guns to telling a story of the role of firearms in American culture. Ashley Hlebisnky, the curator of the Cody Firearms Museum, led me through the recently remodeled galleries. It doesn't look like a typical gun museum. There are brightly colored cases lined along the walls.

The Missouri Department of Conservation says that the state will begin offering a limited elk hunting season once the herd of about 175 animals reaches a minimum of 200. They estimate that will happen at around 2020. They expect to have an archery season for elk in October next year. A short firearms season for elk will follow in December. The number of permits for the possible hunt is still under review.

As the states Sunday hunting bill continues to move forward, the question now becomes has there been enough compromise on the number of days that Sunday hunting would be permitted to ensure the bill makes it to the governors desk? On June 25, the state Senate voted 36-14 to approve an amended version of SB 147 introduced by Sen. Dan Laughlin (R-Erie), along with Jim Brewster (D-Allegheny and Westmoreland).

Democratic hopefuls squared off in the first primary debate over two days and they had plenty to say about the gun control plans they would enact if elected. Perhaps the most important take away from the two nights is that the candidates advocated or passively supported gun confiscation, rhetorically couched as gun buybacks. Not a single one of the 20 candidates spoke in opposition to confiscation or the respect for the Second Amendment. So, the Democrats really are coming for your guns. The other key takeaway is that former Vice President Joe Biden believes the firearm industry is the enemy.

The old jacket full of holes, smoke and sawdust called out to him as it hung faithfully from its rusted nail by the back door. It was summer time and itd been months since hed reached for his trusty and tattered coat but even with feathers poking out through pockmark burn holes its touch was soft and warm on the inside just as he remembered. The sky was changing color fast and inside his head he heard a calling that sent him outside to soak it all in. Oily octopus ink clouds kicked up dusty devil cyclones in the parched garden that twisted pea chutes into jungle rope vines. Pasture daisies turned swayback in the mustang wind while evergreen tips snapped and hurtled like tumbleweeds until they became snared in ragged fenclines.
