Let us, for a moment, take the sex-education pushers at their word: If you teach a child how to use a condom, you're promoting safety -- not usage.
Why, then, doesn't the same logic apply to guns?
In Maryland, Democrat Gov. Parris Glendening has just vetoed bipartisan gun safety education legislation. It would have made Maryland the first in the nation to establish public-school guidelines for gun safety instruction from kindergarten through grade 12. |

U.S. Attorney Michael Johnson conceded at a hearing Tuesday that some methods used by the Eastern District of Arkansas to maintain search-and-seizure records are unconstitutional and should be changed. However, he said, the federal government still contends that all documents related to police raids should continue to be automatically sealed at the time they are filed with the court, keeping them from public view. |

The Supreme Court let stand a lower court's decision that a 6-foot-tall granite tablet of the commandments on the lawn of the Elkhart, Ind., municipal building violates the constitutional separation of church and state. The monument was given to the city in the 1950s in part as a promotion for the movie "The Ten Commandments," starring Charlton Heston.

The ATF database tracks a gun from the manufacturer to the dealer, then keeps records of subsequent legal sales. "It gives us a reasonable chance of catching up with people who are doing this trafficking," said ATF Agent Jim Crist. "When someone is buying a lot of guns, we know he's not buying them for his personal collection." |

Tennessee House Speaker Jimmy Naifeh allegedly sanctioned Rep. Henri Brooks for her refusal to recite the 'Pledge of Allegiance', saying that the U.S. flag represents a nation of former slave owners.
ABC affiliate WATE-TV said Naifeh asked Brooks to remain outside the chamber if she didn't want to recite the pledge, and Brooks complained that the request violated her constitutional rights and contacted the ACLU. |

"Every time a bad person does a bad thing with a gun ... we are told that we have to do something. "for the children." Thats code for more laws. It is code for sacrificing more constitutionally guaranteed civil liberties, our God given rights for taking a bigger bite out of the fruits of our labor but it is worth it. "if it will save even one life. The facts will tell you that it wont save that one mythical life. It will cost lives, plural. And it still would not be worth it even if it did." --Ed Cobb |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
To have no proud monarch driving over me with his gilt coaches; nor his host of excise-men and tax-gatherers insulting and robbing me; but to be my own master, my own prince and sovereign, gloriously preserving my national dignity, and pursuing my true happiness; planting my vineyards, and eating their luscious fruits; and sowing my fields, and reaping the golden grain: and seeing millions of brothers all around me, equally free and happy as myself. This, sir, is what I long for. -- General Francis Marion, American War of Independence, Georgetown, SC [Source: 'Marion, The Life of Gen. Francis Marion' by M. L. Weems, Ch.18] |
