"While its unclear if that qualifies as an infraction for interfering with an official investigation, it nonetheless suggest a reflex behavior, and makes it fair to wonder if that is part of a pattern, and what that says about character."

"Inconveniently for those who profit from blaming tools for evil, he did not use demonized items portrayed as 'assault weapons' or 'high-capacity clips.' In a state rated tops for gun laws by the Brady Campaign, there is nothing much else to do, short of a total ban, which, of course, is what angry citizen disarmament zealots with self-control issues called for, unmindful of a coordinated effort to hide the end game and work toward it in increments. That makes it problematic for those characterizing further restrictions as 'common-sense gun laws' and 'a good first step.'

Legislators continue to focus on guns, but we also cannot allow the dangerously mentally ill to have access to the myriad other killing tools readily at their disposal in the kitchen drawer, tool shed, or sporting goods store.

The Cleveland County District Attorney will determine if the police did anything wrong in the case of a man who died during a violent arrest outside the Moore Warren Theater.
Luis Rodriguez was being arrested by several Moore police officers last February when he died.
The Medical Examiner ruled out the death was a homicide, but no one has been arrested or charged in connection with his death.
Michael Brooks-Jimenez said, A 44-year-old man does not pass away if reasonable force is used.
Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation agents have been interviewing witnesses and gathering evidence in the case, including the cell phone video and the parking lot surveillance video from the Moore Warren Theater.

Handgun sales are hot particularly compact pistols that are easily concealed for self-defense.

Smith & Wessons handgun sales jumped by nearly a third at the end of last year, and Colt Manufacturing sold twelve times as many handguns early this year as it did in 2013.

Can a 28-inch-long, 15-round shotgun be used for sporting purposes? Of course it can; after all, the Henry lever-actionAmericas original assault rifleis now exclusively a sporting arm. But is it ideal in the field? Ill admit I struggled to keep a straight face when my old fishing buddy, Ted Hatfield, called me up to tell me about his latest creation, the UTS-15.

The mere sight of it will make women and small children scream! he quipped. And now that its in camo, its the perfect tactical turkey gun!

Assault rifles fall squarely in the sights of those who want to strengthen gun control laws. The AR-15, which is similar in look to the U.S. military's famous M-16 rifle, is at the top of most lists.

But it's also one of the top selling rifles in the country especially for those who want a weapon for home defense, and for what they can't predict.

It is at the same time the most popular and controversial gun in America. The AR-15 a civilian rifle based on the military M-16. The major difference an M-16 is fully automatic, the AR-15 is semi-automatic and only fires one round with each pull of the trigger.

In the wake of the horrific Isla Vista, California, mass killing, Americans have once again engaged the debate over gun proliferation. Victims families issue primal cries for regulation of these deadly weapons and gun activists respond by waving the Constitution and declaring their fundamental right to bear arms is sacrosanct. Indeed, such right-wing luminaries as Joe the plumber, who not long ago shared the stage with the Republican nominees for president and vice president, said explicitly:

Your dead kids dont trump my constitutional rights.

The National Rifle Association is targeting an unlikely opponent: gun-rights activists in Texas marching beneath the open carry banner.

The NRAs lobbying arm, the Institute for Legislative Action, posted a statement Friday to its website decrying the practice of taking assault rifles into fast-food restaurants and other businesses as weird. According to the NRA, the open carriers enthusiasm for their cause of defending the Second Amendment has degenerated into downright foolishness.

When it comes to defending your home and the loved-ones within, many of the characteristics that make an ideal brush-gun or hunting rifle are actually detrimental in a home-defense situation. Still, shooters have to take into account over-penetration, training costs, ammo selection and reliability. Its enough to make the saltiest gun-owners head spin and often acts as a tremendous barrier to first-time gun-buyers trying to responsibly research before their purchase

I accept the writers challenge as to why a gun in the home is a good idea. As a gun owner, it is your responsibility to safeguard your firearms against theft or unauthorized handling. If you purchase a firearm for self-defense, doesnt it make sense that the gun be loaded? Guns dont just jump out of a safe, a drawer or a closet and shoot someone. A person has to pick it up and fire it. Educate and train yourself first.

The former Walgreens pharmacist who opened fire on a group of thieves at the store at M-139 and Napier in 2011 has lost his appeal in federal court. Jeremy Hoven sued the company after he was fired for violating company policy regarding a ban on weapons at work. The appeals court issued a 3-0 ruling Monday siding with Walgreens that even though Hoven was licensed to carry the gun, company policy took precedent.

After the tragic events in Isla Vista, California on May 23 we've seen another uptick in talk of stricter gun regulation and the regular depressing response. But while the debate over solving the problems of gun violence legislatively or judicially falters along its predictable path, with feints toward meaningful reform followed by crushing defeats as memories fade, one interesting aspect of the gun wars has gone relatively unnoticed: Gun opponents have been racking up some small victories in demanding that family restaurant chains deny service to patrons seeking to openly carry firearms on the premises.

Potential bank robbers will be thinking twice in one Illinois city. A bank in Marion has even posted signs letting people know the workers inside are armed. South Porte Bank has been in business since 2012 and has never been robbed. Once the state of Illinois passed concealed carry legislation, some of the employees started carrying.

And it is a behavior that we are starting to see with frightening regularity. Take the guy in Georgia who recently brought a gun to a little-league baseball game and waived it around at parents just to prove that he could. Or the open carry activists in San Antonio who have been going into stores and restraints with assault rifles in order to get their point acrossbehavior that even the NRA has described as downright weird.

The NRA, of course, has a lot of good lawyers who understand that this behavior falls well within a category that Justice Scalia has declared beyond the protection of the Second Amendment.

Now Cuomo is scared! Thats why he picked Kathy Hochul as his running mate . . . he knows the anti-gun SAFE act could kill his campaign so he tried to deceive you by picking a lieutenant governor with an NRA endorsement and A rating from a congressional campaign in 2012.

Of course, Cuomo would never pick someone who actually would stand up for your rights.

Asked if she supported the SAFE Act, Hochul said: Yes ,I do.
Democrats have confirmed that she was chosen in hope you would be deceived by her NRA endorsement:

Todays edition of the e-mail News Slices from Knife Rights, Inc. the group founded to fight onerous regulations on knives asserts that Mars candy company, the makers of M&Ms, has rejected an order for promotional packages of the popular candy for the organization, allegedly because the word knife in the groups logo is not family friendly.

This came after the group apparently placed an order for more than $1,450 worth of M&Ms in customized packages. Knife Rights supplied Examiner and The Gun Mag.com with copies of the order price estimate and an agreement signed by Sue Ritter.
