"Al Herron and David Hackathorn brought up two issues about my May 3 'Talk of the Town' that deserve further discussion."

"Mr. Herron trotted out and attacked the saying, 'Guns don't kill people; people kill people.'"

"That people quote the statement so often doesn't make it any less true. We must separate a person's actions from the instruments of action. Current law supports that distinction."

"Mr. Herron also analogized guns to cars and the laws governing their use. Both guns and cars can be deadly weapons. I support responsible use of both, but a major distinction exists between them: The state grants you the privilege to operate a motor vehicle. God grants you the right to defend yourself." ...

Unfortunately for gun ban extremists, murderous psychopaths (the same ones their legislative goals would ensure are the only ones with guns) keep disproving their ridiculous claims."

"'The FBI did a tremendous job this past weekend in thwarting yet another extremist Muslim terrorist plot directed at a New York target,' self-defense advocate John M. Snyder said here today."

"'At the same time,' he continued, 'the revelation of the plot demonstrated there is a great personal danger to millions of law-abiding American citizens created by certain clergymen in their campaign to undermine the right to self-defense. Unfortunately, ministers of various religious denominations work to deny Americans their right to keep and bear the arms they very well may need to defend their own lives and the lives of their loved ones. These clergymen are committed to civilian disarmament.'" ...
