Cowboy Action Shooting at Hernando Sportsman's Club is taking local gun handlers back to the ole west complete with leather gun harness, spurs on them there boot heels and wide brimmed cowboy hats. I love the old west; I should have been born in 1860, Shady Brady laughed. Shady Brady (using his Wild West alias) has been involved with Cowboy Action Shooting since 1996, and with that passion and love for the Wild West, he keeps this event going for many to participate as well to watch. |

A national push to get guns out of the hands of people with a history of domestic abuse is finding some traction in the Rhode Island General Assembly, while some gun control advocates want tougher restrictions. A compromise bill is moving forward in the state Senate that would order anyone convicted of a felony domestic violence offense to surrender firearms and file proof of surrender in court. |

The Philippine president-elect has encouraged the public to help him in his war against crime, urging citizens with guns to shoot and kill drug dealers who resist arrest and fight back in their neighborhoods.
In a nationally televised speech late Saturday, Rodrigo Duterte told a huge crowd in the southern city of Davao that Filipinos who help him battle crime will be rewarded. ...
If a drug dealer resists arrest or refuses to be brought to a police station and threatens a citizen with a gun or a knife, "you can kill him," Duterte said. "Shoot him and I'll give you a medal."

In response to a pro-gun question during a June 1 town hall event in Indiana, President Obama suggested he is not as anti-gun as the NRA claims. According to AOL.com, Obama said: I dont care how many times the NRA says it. Im about to leave office. There have been more guns sold since I have been president than just about any time in U.S. history. There are enough guns for every man, woman and child in this country. And at no point have I ever, ever proposed confiscating guns from responsible gun owners. So its just not true.

There hasn't been a mad rush to buy guns since West Virginia's so-called "constitutional carry" law went into effect May 24, according to local firearm sellers. Although some law enforcement officers and gun sellers have split opinions on whether allowing residents over 21 to carry a concealed weapon without a permit, there is one thing on which most all of them agree on: People who own and carry guns must do so responsibly.

There are a lot of reasons why Americans buy firearms, but one of the main reasons is the concern that gun control is, this time, really going to happen, and its necessary to buy guns now, because you wont be able to later. Why would Americans think this? Perhaps because the news media, and Fox News in particular, are saying it. The possibility of gun control may make for good ratings, but its also directly responsible for millions of additional gun sales in America over the past few years.

Trust not too much to appearances. Virgil. Back when I was a kid, when we walked to school through 10 feet of snow and it was uphill both ways, I read a lot of outdoor and gun magazines. I doubt if that is a surprise to most of you, but maybe you can picture a skinny kid with an overactive imagination lying on the floor, absorbing the latest issue of Outdoor Life or Fur Fish Game. |

Rows and rows of men and women sat in a small, stuffy space at First Unitarian Church of Orlando, fanning themselves with sheets of paper. It was quiet as they listened to the message delivered from the front of the room. But it wasn't a Sunday sermon that held everyone's rapt attention. A movie was playing and a black curtain blocked out most of the daylight from the courtyard just outside. |

The first time I ever shot, it was with Butch. He was a high school student and player on athletic teams when I was a teacher, coach and athletic director. And he was a bit of a pain in the ass, if you take my meaning. But the shooting took place just this week, more than forty years later, at a gun range in western Michigan. And Butch was a pain in the ass, then as now, because he declines to take anything his former teacher and mentor says as gospel. Imagine that!

Floridians talk about the states past in mythic terms. Flocks of egrets so thick they blotted out the sky. Fish the size of wild hogs. Alligators in such numbers you could walk from one mangrove-studded island to the next without touching sand. You talk to the guys who guided here 50 years ago and it sounds like paradise, said fishing guide Andy Lee, 34, as he poled us around the western edge of 1.5-million-acre Everglades National Park in his flats skiff. |
