"How very intolerant, to play the rube card. How very bigoted. How very backward and wouldn't urban sophisticates call it provincial? Its not surprising. Its exactly what we have come to expect from "forward leaners" with their insufferable air of superiority, and their quickness (and eagerness) to dismiss those clinging to flyover ways as lesser beings."

I was excited to learn that PTR Industries was making a move to South Carolina. Now that they are settled they have designed a special edition as a show of thanks for South Carolinas support for the gun industry. That deserves our respect. PTR was moved to relocate due to the passage of gun laws that stand to cripple the gun industry in New England. And it isnt just gun related laws, but a general difficulty in dealing with the government and an insufferable structure that makes business difficult for anyone.

"The problem is not with gun owners. We are not robbers. We are not killers. Get this straight: It's not our fault. And anyone who says otherwise is a liar one who wants to trick you out of your rights if they can't outright steal them from you."

27 year-old Shaneen Allen from Philadelphia wanted to protect her family. She took a gun safety course, applied for and was granted a concealed carry permit and she purchased a gun. ...
However, while Allen was covered to carry a gun in Pennsylvania, she made the mistake of crossing into New Jersey with the weapon and now she's facing a mandatory minimum of three-years in jail.
Allen said that she didn't know her permit didn't apply to New Jersey so when she was stopped for a minor traffic offense she told the police about her gun and her permit to carry. In this case, being honest may have cost her.

SUBMITTER'S COMMENT: But her PA driver's license is valid in NJ. End the insanity! Pass nationwide CCW reciprocity now!

Without this legislation, law-abiding and hard-working Pennsylvanians will be forced to choose between being gainfully employed and their right to defend themselves.

Currently, many of our friends and neighbors risk losing their jobs by carrying their firearm with them in their vehicle on their way to work. Twenty-three states have already enacted laws to protect their citizens from losing their jobs, and Pennsylvania should join them.

Voters in Arizona will soon be able to manifest the extent of federal overreach they are willing to withstand.

Proposition 122 will appear on the ballot when Arizonans go to the polls on November 4. A website maintained by supporters of the measure explains how the proposed law would work to maintain the correct constitutional boundaries of power...

...

The Tenth Amendment Center put a finer point on the issue, writing, If passed, the state constitutional amendment would make the feds enforce, enact and pay for its unconstitutional actions and programs on their own.

One of the claims made by gun-rights supporters appears to have been vindicated following an increase in the numbers of armed robberies of Target stores within days of their announcing a new policy of asking customers not to bring guns into their stores.
On July 2, Target interim CEO, John Mulligan, issued a statement stating that while it acknowledges local communities where Target may have stores legally permit residents to open carry weapons, the company requested customers not exercise that right.

Why has the Florida Sheriffs Association so vigorously opposed our Second Amendment guarantees, especially in an emergency evacuation in which virtually no officers could be available in an enormous wave of fleeing humanity to assure personal safety?

And why have our generals (sheriffs) had nothing to say about that?

In spite of the video tape, Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Thomas Rebull refused to grant Gabriel Mobley immunity. Understandably, Mobley appealed. The appeals court found for Mobley in January of this year. The prosecutors appealed the decision to the Florida Supreme Court. This week, the Supreme Court vindicated Mobley by refusing the prosecutors appeal. Still, the ride for Gabriel Mobley lasted for almost six years. And this was with the action recorded on video!

In what appears to be an act of leftist self-defense, an unbylined story at the Associated Press, aka the Administration's Press, describes certain Colorado Democratic politicians' crticisms of former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg over recent "off-base remarks about two of its cities," but noted no reactions from Republicans who are genuinely outraged, as opposed to arguably trying to cover their political tracks.

Four people who had been at the house told police they were shot at. Benny Lee Smith, 69, used another shotgun to return fire at McGee from inside the house, police said.

Wounded, McGee managed to drive his pickup truck a short distance down the block, where he crashed into a trash can. Police found him in the driver's seat, barely alive, and he died inside an ambulance.

In a report released Friday, police concluded McGee's wounds were from Smith's shotgun. Police said Smith was acting in self-defense. He was not charged.

While OSU cant bring criminal charges against you, officials can discipline you, up to and including dismissal if youre a student or termination if youre an employee.

But maybe not for long.

Students for Concealed Carry Foundation and Ohioans for Concealed Carry filed a lawsuit to overturn the ban.

They may actually win because of a unique provision in the Ohio Revised Code.

You see, the General Assembly decided that laws regulating firearms, their components and their ammunition should be uniform across the state.

While I understand that the lawful carry of firearms in Target stores will continue to be allowed based on local and state laws, I must say that Targets statement that bringing firearms to Target creates an environment that is at odds with the family-friendly shopping and work experience we strive to create is unbelievably offensive to gun owners.

Gun ownership is as American as apple pie and baseball. Guns are what gave us the freedoms that we now enjoy and guns continue to protect those freedoms and to protect the individual lives of Americas citizens.

Yet that statement from Target sounds like gun owners are somehow unwholesome or unsavory and do not belong in the same building with families and Target employees.

With the rising cost of ammunition, a visit to the gun range can be expensive, but a new business in Waco is offering simulated fire arm training to the public.

Lorena Fire Department Captain Jay Fonville is already a regular at H5 Tactical. "Even though I'm a firefighter, it gives a lot of situational awareness to individuals out on a scene," Fonville said. So he takes every opportunity to improve his response to emergencies. "We can talk about it, but here it makes you look at and further broaden your eyes, your vision and heightens your senses."

Gov. Sam Brownback's campaign for re-election is raising funds off a federal lawsuit filed against a gun bill he signed.

In an email sent Thursday, Brownback's campaign said the lawsuit the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence filed on behalf of five Kansans is reason to financially support his re-election bid.

"To put it simply, the gun-grabbers at the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence are suing Governor Sam Brownback for protecting the Second Amendment rights of Kansans," the campaign email states. "Thats right, theyre suing him for defending the Constitution."

Gov. Christie has received a lot of attention for the bit of cowardice he showed in failing to meet with parents of some of the victims of the Sandy Hook school massacre before vetoing a plan to reduce the legal size of ammunition magazines from 15 rounds to 10.

It is well-deserved criticism for the absence of leadership and courage it represented. But it also masked to some degree the appalling nature of the veto itself.

Former U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords of Arizona and her husband, Mark Kelly, a retired astronaut, are coming to Maine next month to raise money for U.S. Rep. Mike Michauds gubernatorial campaign against incumbent Republican Gov. Paul LePage and independent Eliot Cutler.

Gabby Giffords and I worked very closely together as members of the Blue Dog Coalition in Congress and Im grateful for her support and friendship throughout the years. She shares my commitment to working across the aisle to find common sense solutions to the problems we face, Michaud, a Democrat, said in a written statement.

U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, today introduced an amendment to S. 2363, the Sportsmen's Act of 2014, to ensure concealed carry privileges are reciprocal in states with similar laws. The amendment mirrors legislation Sen. Cornyn introduced earlier this year, the Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act.

This bill strengthens two of our nations most fundamental rights, ensuring law-abiding gun owners can lawfully carry their weapons into like-minded states, while respecting the rights of states to adopt laws that are best-suited for the people of that state. This is an important affirmation of the Second Amendment and one that has been a top priority of law-abiding gun owners in Texas for some time. It is time to get this done.

Why is Chicago the nation's murder capital? Its officials always want to talk about gun laws, and Superintendent McCarthy complained about their laxity after the latest shootings. This is bizarre, since Chicago has some of the strictest gun laws in the country, and has been slapped down in the courts for trampling on the Second Amendment in its zeal to make it all but impossible to own guns. Chicago is a running illustration of the cliche that if you ban guns, only criminals will own them.

Gun laws are beside the point. The tony Chicago neighborhood of Hyde Park could have the same laws as gun-friendly Vermont and it would still be extremely safe.

In an effort to protect law-abiding Californians Second Amendment gun rights, California Association of Federal Firearms Licensees (CAL-FFL) has sent Governor Jerry Brown a letter requesting his veto of Assembly Bill 1964. The measure, authored by Assemblyman Roger Dickinson of Sacramento, would prohibit the sale of most modern handguns in the Golden State.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
The prohibition is general. No clause in the Constitution could by any rule of construction be conceived to give to Congress a power to disarm the people. Such a flagitious attempt could only be made under some general pretense by a state legislature. But if in any blind pursuit of inordinate power, either should attempt it, this amendment may be appealed to as a restraint on both. William Rawle, A View of the Constitution 125-6 (2nd ed. 1829)
