While the bill fails to make all of the changes needed to roll back oppressive anti-gun legislation imposed by the legislature in 1998, it is an important first step." |

"Criminal charges will be dropped against the remaining defendants arrested in a police raid a judge found to be unconsitutional [sic], the Durham County prosecutor says."
"The decision by District Attorney Jim Hardin follows a ruling by Judge Orlando F. Hudson that the February police raid at Cheek Road Apartments violated people's civil liberties."
"Hardin also will not oppose a reversal of convictions against those defendants who already have pleaded guilty, officials said Friday."
"Hudson said the raid was unlawful because officers improperly 'seized' the entire neighborhood and conducted unreasonable searches and seizures. Actions of some officers amounted to 'tortious or criminal conduct,' Hudson said."

Regardless of the allegations against these American citizens, that they can be charged for mere possession of a firearm has America's Founders' turning over in their graves.
Reading between the lines, it's also possible that shots allegedly fired in this case were fired in self-defense -- but when handguns are banned and someone is using a handgun for self-defense, an attempt to leave the scene is predictable.
And guess what was in the arresting officer's holster. ... |

This whole editorial is a great poke at the charade that has formed around Mr. Violent B-ball Player. But the following section deserves the attention of anyone who still believes in equal protection of the law:
"Iverson might receive a judicial order to show up to an elementary school and recite whatever inanities are deemed necessary to make everyone feel better. This is the wink-wink that goes with the tsk-tsk. He is bound to be sentenced to another season in the NBA."
"Iverson is expected to surrender to authorities tomorrow, assuming he can fit it into his busy schedule and has recovered from his all-night party over the weekend."
