A 37-year-old Yakima man wont be charged after shooting a neighbor who broke into his mobile home.
Yakima County Prosecuting Attorney Joe Brusic said Friday the man was defending his fiance and their six children in June when he shot Jose Mendoza-Martinez multiple times in the chest.
If (the man) reasonably believed that he and/or those with him were in imminent danger or a threat of great personal injury, he could use lethal force, which he did, Brusic wrote Friday. I find that the force used was both reasonable and necessary under the law. |

Detective David Fugitt, according to newly filed court documents, said they instructed him to dramatically scale down his presentation of his evidence in the case involving Daniel Perry, who says he acted in self-defense when he shot and killed Garrett Foster a year ago in downtown Austin.
The documents, filed by Perrys Dallas attorney Clinton Broden, accuse prosecutors of manipulating the grand jury system to get three indictments against Perry, including a murder charge, and make the bold claim that prosecutors committed witness tampering by interfering with Fugitts planned testimony. |

Mothers may breastfeed their children in public without having to do so discreetly. Citizens can stand their ground and use whatever force necessary to protect themselves or their home. Booze will be allowed to be sold much earlier on Sunday mornings and state officials may not mandate face coverings.
These changes are among hundreds of new state laws that take effect Aug. 1, representing the work of the 2021 Republican-led Legislature. |

Seventeen months after local gun rights advocates first pressed their case to have Indiana County declared a Second Amendment sanctuary, a revised version of their proposed ordinance was presented Wednesday to the countys board of commissioners.
As presented by Deborah J. Shreckengost, of Blairsville, and other supporters, the ordinance reads in part that the right to keep and bear arms is a pre-existing, individual right that shall not be infringed; and all local, state, and federal acts, laws, orders, rules or regulations in violation of the Second Amendment are void. |

Alaskans have been looking at states like Florida, Arizona, and Texas lately, as places that are the land of the free and home of the brave compared to the Last Frontier, which is taking a socialist turn for the worst.
Other Red State legislatures are working on substantive legislation, such as promoting civics education, voting security, gun rights, and heartbeat bills. |

Republican Senator Pat Toomey, who is retiring in 2022, will vote against President Joe Biden's nominee to lead the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.
Meaningful progress on gun safety will only be possible when members of Congress and the executive branch drop the politics and hyperbole and focus on the possible. That likely will not happen if the ATFthe law enforcement agency tasked with enforcing the nations firearm lawscannot be impartial in carrying out its duties," Toomey released in a statement this week. |

"When do constitutional rights vest? At 18 or 21? 16 or 25? Why not 13 or 33? In the law, a line must sometimes be drawn," Richardson wrote. "But there must be a reason why constitutional rights cannot be enjoyed until a certain age. Our nation's most cherished constitutional rights vest no later than 18. And the Second Amendment's right to keep and bear arms is no different." |

It was the first time a federal court at such a high level explicitly extended the Second Amendment right to bear arms to younger adults. |

Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) recently said that Illinois uptick in crime is because there are just too damn many guns out there.
Like many of his colleagues, Durbin blames the increase in crime on the millions of Americans who lawfully exercise their right to keep and bear arms.
Sadly, this has become an all too common talking point for anti-Second Amendment politicians, including President Joe Biden (D), who recently suggested that firearms owners and gun stores are to blame when it comes to a rise in crime. |

"It's such a polarizing topic in this nation," Sheriff Hatcher said. "There's people that are on opposite sides of this issue."
He said 38 out of the 39 sheriffs in Washington state will sign onto a letter reaffirming their duty to protect the Second Amendment and all individual rights guaranteed by the Constitution.
"A lot of people look to the sheriffs as the last line of defense to protect their constitutional rights and the sheriffs are making a statement here that they are going to do everything within their power to protect the individual's constitutional rights," Sheriff Hatcher said. |
