"Work is under way at Xerox Corp.'s PARC that should be vehemently opposed by IT leaders." ...

"Project Genisyspart of the federal government's Total Information Awareness programis developing a 'privacy appliance.' In this case, the name is Orwellian double talk worthy of '1984.' "

"The Project Genisys privacy appliance is designed to facilitate 'fishing expeditions,' defined in part by Black's Law Dictionary as an overly broad use of the discovery process during an action. In this case, the so-called privacy appliance is an even more egregious infringement of privacy rights because search results are in response to concocted scenarios, not to specific legal actions."

"A federal judge has thrown out a $3 million judgment against Kmart for selling a gun that a schizophrenic man used to commit suicide, ruling that jury deliberations in the case were tainted."

"A juror's knowledge about a similar case against the retailer and his coy remarks about it to other jury members put Kmart in an unfair position, U.S. District Judge Ted Stewart ruled. "The murder of a young skydiver who died because his parachute cords had been cut is to be reconstructed and shown on British television in a bid to catch his killer.
Horrified spectators at an airshow in northern England earlier this month saw Stephen Hilder, 20, plummet 13,000 feet to earth when both his main and reserve parachutes failed to open because their cords and straps had been severed." ...

"Police believe Hilder, who had more than 200 jumps under his belt, was killed by someone with knowledge about parachutes and sky diving."

"Mr. President, it is no secret that the District of Columbia, our great Nation's Capital, suffers from the most startling violent crime rates in the country. It has the highest, the absolute highest, murder rate per capita in the country. According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, and despite the most stringent gun control laws in the country, in 8 out of the 9 years between 1994 and 2002, Washington, DC had the highest murder rate in the country. In fact, the results are in for 2002, and unfortunately they continue to paint a grim picture. Mr. President, the District of Columbia has again reclaimed its rather unenviable title as the 'Murder Capital of the United States'. "

"It is time, Mr. President, to restore the rights of law-abiding citizens to protect themselves and to defend their families against murderous predators." ....

"The liberal main stream media will be putting out about as much false and misleading information as they can. You see the truth doesn't matter to them if they can get the emotional response they want. An example would be the attack on so called assault weapons by CNN. There was nothing in that report that was even remotely close to the truth. The whole thing was set up to make the people on the line panic for no good reason at all. How many times will they shoot movies or documentaries about the school shooting at Columbine. We have lived through that crime and most everyone understands that two young males took it upon themselves to shoot up their school. That's right, they did it, and no weapon they used had any responsibility for doing it. The fact was they broke the law to get the weapons and no laws would have prevented them from this act. So demonizing the gun and saying that it could be controlled and would have stopped this attack is like saying that we as humans don't need food to live because some are obese."

"If you want to get into a spirited debate in this country today, address the topic of guns. This is definitely a controversial issue with no easy solution. [The solution is easy, but this pseudo-journalistic coward doesn't want to deal with it."] Let's face it; guns kill. [They do? And here we thought "smart" guns weren't invented yet.] People who don't own a gun fear them. [That's because pseudo-journalistic cowards like you insist on spreading sub-moronic ooze such as "guns kill."] We have seen too many movies that glorify killing with guns. [Who forces you to see these movies?] Death by shooting provides for a lasting memory, and if we have had the experience of losing a loved one or a friend by the use of a gun, it is a haunting and terrible memory. [As opposed to losing them to a drunk driver?] A gun becomes an evil weapon. [Animism at its best]"
