As the mother watched helplessly outside a locked window, a father stabbed his three young boys, killing two, before he was shot and killed by police. ~~~~ The mother did not have the proper tools to protect her children so now 2 of her children are dead and one is seriously injured. Self defense and defense of children is a human right. |

"These are the long-term positive repercussions of a lower crime rate," said James Alan Fox, criminal justice professor at Northeastern University in Boston. "People see that streets are safer and they are not as compelled to go out and purchase a gun."
Researchers, however, said the decline in applications does not necessarily mean that fewer guns were sold. In some states, people can purchase more than one gun from a single application. |

"Tomorrow morning, like every Sunday when Im in town, Ill attend Church. I generally enjoy the service, each Sunday of the year but not on July 4th weekends. This is the one Sunday, every year that the congregation always sings the "Star Spangled Banner". I want to sing, just like I always want to sing at ball games and other sports events but I cant bring myself to do it." --Ron Holland |

"Chett Charles Fatland probably won't be carrying his pellet gun to scare off cougars anymore."
11 years old, served 35 days in juvenile hall for bringing a loaded pellet gun to school.
His mom says, "Chett carried the gun in his backpack to protect himself from cougars when he rode his bike in rural Battle Ground."
MORAL: It's more blessed to be eaten by a cougar than to scare it away with a pellet gun.
Surprised a rural community would tolerate this rubbish. Why do they? |

"Figures show fewer people tried to buy guns last year than in the previous year, and background checks blocked 153-thousand gun sales.
"Analysts attributed the decline to a drop in crime. Less crime makes Americans feel safer and less inclined to buy guns.
"According to the Justice Department, the number of applications to buy guns from [FFLs] fell eleven percent between 1999 and 2000 -- to 7.7 million."
Then there are private sales, and multiple purchases on the same Form 4473. |

The Illinois State Rifle Association is calling upon the Illinois State Police to follow the lead of U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft to protect the privacy of law-abiding firearm owners.
The Illinois State Police have, contrary to state law, maintained documents related to every retail firearm purchase made in the state since the early 1990s. The records are used by a multi-agency task force (Chicago Anti Gun Enforcement "CAGE" unit) to snoop on the citizens of Illinois. |

"During the competition, each contestant must load and fire at a menagerie of metal hillside targets from 50 to 200 meters -- a distance of more than two football fields."
"This is a sport of steel nerves, precision arms, recoil and focus."
It's nice seeing a very positive article on a news site that actually portrays the shooting sports as the innocent American pasttime they are. And the site/organization is based in California, too.

"A federal appeals court yesterday stepped into a 16-year-old dispute between the Federal Election Commission and the National Rifle Association, finding that the NRA made $38,000 in illegal campaign contributions through its political action committee."
"The NRA violated a federal law that prohibits corporations from making contributions or expenditures in connection with elections for federal office, the judges said."
For some strange reason, the only words that come to mind are: ZERO TOLERANCE ENFORCEMENT. |

Does anyone remember the recent article about the mobile metal-detectors being tested to look for guns in crowds of people? Put that together with this and see the pattern emerging?? Freedom is slipping away faster than you know! See why the Feds want to hang onto those NICS lists? Merge them with the drivers license data with color photographs and they can be used to find the gun owners "instantly". Kinda' makes you proud to celebrate the Fourth doesn't it?? |
