The reader should notice that certain words and phrases appear over and over in these examples, with background checks and gun-free zones most prominent among them. But there were also mentions of registered guns being used in high profile attacks, of waiting periods being passed and of 10-round magazines sufficing for a killer who knew his victims could likely not shoot back. Yet none of this changes the anti-gun Lefts message.

Two men who police say robbed a game room in December of 2015 that led to the shooting death of one of their friends are now facing charges of aggravated robbery.

The whole situation unfolded on Dec. 12, 2015, when police found the body of 27-year-old Eric Sorrells in the parking lot of an Exxon gas station at the corner of Burleson Road and US 183 around 2 a.m.

The Second Amendment provides that, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. In virtually every incident of gun violence, there is a cry to limit firearms, ammunition, and/or their accessories and infringe on this Second Amendment guarantee. When surveyed, the American people do not want the Second Amendment violated. Gun owners and non-gun owners do not want restrictions on their ability to possess firearms.

While there is disagreement on certain restrictions, Americans agree that firearm possession is part of American culture, according to my reading of a survey published in June by the Pew Research Center on its website, pewsocialtrends.org.

The shooter and two witnesses were interviewed at the scene. Escambia County Sheriff's Office spokesman Maj. Andrew Hobbs said at the time the case was complicated, but that it initially appeared to be a self-defense situation.

A group of Maryland citizens, with the support of the National Rifle Association, filed a petition to the United States Supreme Court on Friday seeking to reverse a Court of Appeals ruling that stripped some of Americas most popular rifles of Second Amendment protection. The 4th Circuit ruling in the case Kolbe v. Hogan is a direct contradiction of the Supreme Courts 2008 decision, District of Columbia v. Heller, which re-affirmed American citizens right to self-defense.

Lower courts have been making up their own rules when it comes to the Second Amendment for too long, and the Kolbe decision crossed yet another line, said Chris W. Cox, executive director, National Rifle Association Institute for Legislative Action.

Life often imitates art, and like Kevin McCallister in Hollywoods Home Alone movie, teenager Kimber Wood found herself living one of these ridiculously unimaginable hypotheticals this week. According to news reports, Woods boyfriend had called to warn her that sheriff deputies were looking for a suspected car thief who had escaped in the area. Ms. Wood phoned her father at work to ask if she could borrow one of his guns. He agreed, so she retrieved a handgun and went back to sleep. Waking up to find the suspect in the room with her, she was able to stop him in his tracks and make him leave by pointing her gun at him. (He fled, but not, apparently, without helping himself to the boyfriends ATV).

The National Rifle Association owns the Florida Legislature lock, stock and barrel. It should not own the next governor. Yet the leading Republican candidate, Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam, supports the NRA's absurd push for guns to be allowed on college campuses and openly carried in public places. That is the wrong direction for Florida, where there already are too many guns and state law encourages a shoot-first approach.

This is not a conversation about Second Amendment rights or how either of you feel about gun control. Its simply to figure out whether the parents have firearms. If so, what type? Are they secured properly? And what level of safety training do the parents possess?

This summer, The Trace is talking to current and former NRA members in an attempt to better understand where their personal views are in lockstep with the gun-rights goliath and where they arent. We want to know what the groups battles look like from the inside, and how belonging to the NRA may affect perspectives toward the issues it takes on.

If you are a current or former NRA member and would like to share your views, please email us at [email protected].

Up first is Anshel Sag, a 27-year-old tech industry analyst who was an NRA member for two years before quitting the group. He lives in San Diego.

Back when Mark Glaze was executive director of Michael Bloombergs Mayors Against Illegal Guns, and later Everytown for Gun Safety, he went to great lengths to portray his masters anti-gun positions as moderate. Glaze used the typical gun control advocate refrain that his groups were merely seeking commonsense gun laws. The anti-gun campaigner used every opportunity to remind his audience that he was from Colorado and the son of a licensed firearms dealer. When discussing Colorados magazine ban and private transfer restrictions in 2014, Glaze assured that the laws improved safety, but that the Second Amendment is going to be protected.

In Colorado Springs, Colorado, a jury acquitted a Green Beret of negligent homicide for fatally shooting an intruder in his detached garage.

The encounter happened in a garage set back 25 feet from the shooters house after he saw his bicycle lying in the backyard and went back there to investigate.

Under Colorados Castle Doctrine, residents are permitted to use force against intruders, including deadly force, if they reasonably believe intruders intend to use any degree of force against them.

Christine Panzella is likely all too well aware of the time and money associated with legal proceedings. For her and other Nassau County gun owners, the retention policy meant a choice between expensive, time-consuming litigation or abandoning their lawful property. Its been five years and counting since her guns were confiscated, and the litigation is far from concluded.

Much has been written about the dedication of female civil rights activists and fighters for justice who battle on, no matter what. Were not sure how Christine Panzellas saga will end, but we applaud her and other Second Amendment persisters in fighting the hard fight for whats right.

State Supreme Court Justice John L. Michalski could have imprisoned her for up to seven years.

Arnold, 26, of Rochester, urged repeal of New York's SAFE Act gun control law. It became a centerpiece of her unsuccessful 2014 Republican primary campaign in the 62nd District.

Today, July 21, the California Department of Justice (DOJ), without warning or any notification, submitted another set of proposed regulations for the registration of newly classified assault weapons to the Office of Administrative Law. As with their past two attempts, DOJ has once again listed these regulations as File and Print Only, meaning that members of the public will not have an opportunity to comment on any of the proposed regulations.

As reported previously, DOJs prior attempt at burdensome and unnecessary regulations was denied by the Office of Administrative Law after the NRA and CRPA attorneys submitted a comprehensive opposition letter, which point-by-point dismantled DOJs arguments in support of its regulations.

Mundelein's Planning and Zoning Commission Wednesday night unanimously voted against a gun store and firing range that was proposed for the southeast edge of town.

MIR Tactical, Inc. is looking to relocate its Buffalo Grove retail store into a 29,000-square-foot vacant furniture store along Route 45 near Dover Straits restaurant. The location would also be near the future site of the Transitional Care of Mundelein nursing home. The facility would have a large indoor tactical field for Airsoft enthusiasts and a firearm shooting range in a trailer behind the building. A previously proposed outdoor obstacle course was removed from the proposal.

Stop Bigotry Against Law Abiding, Armed America

We have a name for it when the majority of us blame an innocent minority. It is called bigotry.

The non-gun owning majority of US adults blames legal gun owners for wrongs that armed America didnt commit. Armed America is blamed for social ills they didnt cause, and for which they may, in fact, be part of the solution. Recent polls show how bigoted the majority of us are. I wrote about these differences and the source of the mis-perception between disarmed and armed America.

On July 12, police responded to Main Street Guns on Killian Hill Road about an incomplete gun delivery that looked like a theft, Bardugon said. Authorities said nine of the 10 guns that were supposed to be in the package were missing.

Police and UPS investigators found that Vang left UPS with the package that morning but had another driver make the delivery.

UPS conducted its own investigation and fired Vang on July 20, according to police.

A police investigator went to Vangs home to interview him and first spoke to Kheav, Bardugon said. She said she had the stolen guns. Police then contacted Vang, and the couple were taken into custody.

The permissiveness of U.S. gun laws is not just a domestic problem. Judging from a new study of Internet gun sales, its also making the country a source of illicit weapons in Europe.

Following reports that guns for the 2016 Munich shootings and the 2015 Paris terror attacks were purchased on the vast, hidden part of the Internet known as the dark web, the Rand Corporation received a commission for the first empirical study of the illegal online weapons trade. Led by Giacomo Persi Paoli, who had previously studied small arms trafficking for the United Nations, the Rand team spent a week in September 2016 observing the activity of 52 unique arms vendors operating on 15 online markets.
