As promised, attorneys representing the Second Amendment Foundation and National Rifle Association this morning filed a lawsuit against the City of Seattle, its mayor and police chief, alleging that the city has violated Washington States 35-year-old preemption statute by illegally adopting a gun control regulation that includes provisions for fines ranging to $10,000.
SAF and NRA are joined by two Seattle residents, Omar Abdul Alim and Michael Thyng. Eight years ago, SAF and NRA teamed up with two other rights organizations to prevent Seattle from violating the state law when then-Mayor Greg Nickels pushed a ban on firearms in city park facilities. |

A man who shot and killed another man in Florida this week during an argument over a parking space will not be arrested or charged by the sheriffs office because of the states so-called Stand Your Ground law, the authorities said. Britany Jacobs, 25, was sitting in a car parked in a handicapped space outside a convenience store in Clearwater, Fla., on Thursday afternoon when a man, Michael Drejka, approached her vehicle and started looking for a handicap permit, Sheriff Bob Gualtieri of Pinellas County said at a news conference on Friday. |

Over 100 people gathered outside of the Old Orange County Courthouse today for the Orange County Second Amendment rally. A light sprinkle fell from a grey sky. A line of speakers rallied the crowd. Among those speakers was Mark Robinson, a man some would say is controversial. "So tell all of those leftists out there, like it or not, we're here. We're staying here." Robinson said to the crowd, "You might as well get used to us because we're not going anywhere." |

Some people get real hung up on what gun they conceal and carry. Some insist its pocket pistols only; if you can feel the weight, its too heavy. Others insist the compact models that abound these days are the perfect middle ground between portability and performance. Others still insist that anything smaller than a Glock 19 (or something thereabouts) is just taking chances, or something to that effect.

The leftist American Medical Association (AMA) puts political pressure on doctor/members to discourage patients from being gun-owners. Doctors are instructed to ask patients if they own guns, and then advise them to get rid of all of them! Many doctors, particularly my students, ignore this sleazy, leftist, political propaganda, but many others adhere to it, even asking patients to fill-out forms where they are asked if they own guns.

When making a historical case for gun rights, conservative activist Grover Norquist doesnt just rely on Americas Founding Fathers and the text of the Second Amendment. He talks about Nazi Germany and Americas civil rights era. Countries have lost their liberty when their populations have been disarmed, Norquist said Saturday at OZY Fest, on a panel about the #NeverAgain movement and gun control, where he sparred with Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo and Kristin Lemkau, a gun control activist and Chief Marketing Officer for JP Morgan Chase. A good guy with a gun stops a bad guy with a gun just sounds like someone trying to sell two guns, Lemkau said. |

Nationally, teachers are overwhelmingly against the idea of carrying weapons into classrooms. Not so in the westernmost county of Virginia, where declining revenues from growing tobacco and mining coal have left the local government unable to afford more than four resource officers to protect 11 schools. Despite strong criticism from the state capitol, a six-hour drive to the east, the Lee County School Board has voted to become Virginias first county to arm their teachers and staff. Their next step is to ask a judge to exempt them from state law.

Staff also use this time to teach gun safety to people at a young age- and for two local kids, they're excited to have shooting practice.

A large crowd attended the July 12 Sunman-Dearborn Community School Corp. meeting to learn about a possible policy that would allow employees to carry concealed weapons on school grounds. Second Amendment supporters gathered in Delhi on Saturday for a gun-rights rally on Courthouse Square. A crowd of about 50 people heard from several local politicians speaking on the bandstand during the event organized by SCOPE of Delaware County, the Shooters Committee on Political Education. Some speakers and attendees called for repeal of the New York Secure Ammunition and Firearms Enforcement Act of 2013, commonly known as the SAFE Act, which introduced some of the strictest gun-control policies in the country. The legislation mandated universal background checks on gun purchases and prohibited some weapons and weapon modifications, among other measures.

Members of the Congressional Black Caucus have joined New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo in calling on the U.S. Senate to reject Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh because of his expansive interpretation of gun rights and the Second Amendment. Cuomo, a Democrat, said Saturday that Kavanaugh's past opinions show that he believes it's a constitutional right to carry "even the most dangerous assault weapons." Rep. Gregory Meeks, a New York Democrat, called Kavanaugh's nomination "a grave threat to reasonable gun control measures enacted by states."

Competitive shooter Cheyenne Dalton was asked: How were you introduced to shooting? My dad started taking me shooting when I was quite young. He showed me proper handling and gun safety and also showed me how the guns worked. We would set up targets and just shoot and see how well we could do. I think its really important that new shooters thoroughly understand how the gun theyre shooting works. That way, if they have any sort of issues with the gun, they can handle the problem safely.
