"A gunman opened fire from a balcony in the City Council chamber at New York's City Hall, shooting a man multiple times before being shot himself, witnesses told CNN." ...
"We do not know how someone got a gun into the building... Obviously, there was a breakdown someplace. Somebody got an unauthorized gun into City Hall, and tragically used it."
------- That's right. In a city with some of the most stringent gun control in the country, in a building where people are not allowed to carry for personal protection, someone sneaked a gun into the building and killed another human being. What does this tell you about the efficacy of gun control? |

"Do you think Maryland citizens should be allowed to carry handguns for protection?"
98% Yes. 2% No.
Assistant Attorney General Mark H. Bowen argued: "There have been no threats against him, no attacks upon him and his general statement of 'I'm a citizen and I need a gun,' is not substantial reason to have a permit."
------- This is an indication of how constitutionally clueless AAG Bowen is. |

FULL TEXT BELOW:
Regarding "U.N. seeking global gun control?": "By any measure the United States is the most armed country in the world," the report said. "With roughly 83 to 96 guns per 100 people, the United States is approaching a statistical level of one gun per person."
Well, we're working on it, you globalist pinkos, one shall-issue state at a time. Hopefully, we'll achieve at least 5 guns per person, with every adult having (and many carrying) at least one handgun.
Tell the truth: Are you truly horrified, or just jealous?

"The legislation, which could be passed as early as next month, would make it much harder for Brazilians to buy handguns and impose tough prison sentences for illegal gun ownership in a country with one of the world's highest murder rates."
"It also calls for a referendum in 2005 on a complete ban on gun sales similar that enforced in Britain."
" 'It's got to start. They've got to get rid of the guns,' said Marcia, who had a pistol put against her head and was robbed of her company's cash one afternoon in the business district of the capital Brasilia. She asked that her real name not be used for personal reasons."
------- Did it ever occur to this mindless, victimized sheep that had she had a firearm to defend herself with, she would be less likely to be a victim? Don't Brazilians read about the skyrocketing gun crime rates in Britain despite their gun control laws? |

"Sen. Hatch's bill has Democrats sputtering about 'home rule' since it would overturn a city law, but they'd rather not talk about gun control per se so close to an election year. I don't blame them."
"There's no correlation between tough gun laws and lower crime. Indeed all the liberal prognostication on Florida's 'right to carry' law, the first in the nation in 1987, proved wrong. Not only did Florida's streets not turn into public shooting galleries, as liberals predicted, but 24 other states have followed suit. There has been no discernible increase in violence as a result and not a single conviction of a permit-holder for killing an innocent party."
"Sen. Hatch has the right idea. Treat D.C. residents like responsible grownups-and citizens entitled to Second Amendment protection." |

"School officials do not (and should not) have all-encompassing power on what children read. However, we're sure that Todd Strasser's Give a Boy a Gun surely got its due in roundtable discussion among school officials before they placed it on the required reading list." |

"Since the tragic events at Columbine High School in 1999, the popular scapegoat of the American public has been modern entertainment. Their fingers point at action movies, ultra-realistic video games, and questionable song lyrics."
"Rarely are their fingers directed back at themselves." ...
"The recent controversy over Todd Strasser's book, Give a Boy a Gun, and its presence on the Coventry High School's required reading list continues to be a hot-button topic."
"...peppered throughout the text are relevant quotes and statistics about gun control and teen violence. In the back of the book, a list of senseless massacres is printed. Also, the author asks children not to follow the same path these tortured youths took and calls for stricter gun laws to be enacted." |

"Guns are used for hunting, target-shooting and, when there is a real threat against the gun owner, self-protection. In all three cases, there is no need to conceal the weapon."
"But here in New Hampshire, the ability to carry a concealed weapon is a highly prized and protected privilege, whether or not there is a threat against the owner. . . . but it also leads to far too many hidden guns being carried into public places all across the state."
------- And crime rates in New Hampshire are some of the lowest in the nation. So what exactly is this paranoid, pseudo-journalistic hack whining about? |

"My experience has taught me that individuals can and do make a difference when they become involved at the local level. Here we find the essential key to throwing off chains created by an overbearing Nanny State. We must learn to reassert ourselves as true independent citizens and reclaim our stolen birthright, which is control of government. You should never miss the city/county council or commission meetings in your local area. If you have children, and even if you do not, you should never miss a school board meeting. Anywhere the State meets you should be there to witness it first hand and use your presence and voice to oppose each new link in the chain of our bondage as it is forged. You must be willing to speak in public before endless boards in the fight to close down the foundry that produces the shackles of regulation. You must be willing to call for and support the repeal of useless laws to help preserve your freedom and that of generations that will follow. Show up, you can fight City Hall." |
