Every time gun violence erupts in a mass shooting, the shock and horror of such an act are felt throughout our country. But the responsibility to solve gun violence is not solely the responsibility of our elected leaders. Its also the responsibility of Hollywood.

The Boston Globe headline says it all: Mass. House swiftly passes changes to firearms law, aiming to protect states strict gun control regime after Supreme Court decision.

Long story short, anti-gun state legislators on Thursday are doing their level best to dance around the Supreme Courts June 23 opinion in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen, striking down the good cause requirement to obtain a concealed carry permit.

Economic pundits are increasingly predicting that the U.S. is headed toward recession if the economy is not in one already. Unemployment remains at historic lows, but heightened inflation over the last year has increased the cost of nearly everything for businesses and consumers alike. With the U.S. Federal Reserve hiking interest rates to slow inflation, most experts forecast slower or negative GDP growth this year.

Im often surprised by who I meet in the shooting community and their stories. From the outside looking in, you would think the Reyna family has a perfect life, traveling around shooting, without any worries in the world. But as I got to know more about their family, what theyve been through and their day-to-day lives, I realized theres so much we dont see from the surface.

We do not know how the midterm elections this Nov. 8 will turn out, but there are plenty of signs that the anti-Second Amendment fervor from the Biden administration, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and U.S. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) is grounding out on a massive misunderstanding of the mood and awareness of the American electorate.

Firearms industry research points to the fact there are more Modern Sporting Rifles in circulation today than there are Ford F-Series trucks on the road. The National Shooting Sports Foundation, crunching data from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and U.S. International Trade Commission, using information from manufacturers, importers, and exporters of AR-15 and AK-style rifles, issued an estimate that no less than 24.4 million such rifles were made or brought into the country between 1990 and 2020.

One of the scariest sounds for any of the Kaiser's foot soldiers in the Great War had to be that of the Vickers gun, ready to rattle away in .303 all day. The above amazing eight-minute video is the sight and sound of 16 Vickers machine guns rocking and rolling at a recent event saluting the centenary of the disbandment of the British Army's Machine Gun Corps. Held at the Century range at Bisley, Surrey, it was pulled off by the Vickers Machinegun Collection and Research Association. Representing a Machine Gun company, the guns represented gunners from 1912 through 1968, including one team of female factory testers.

The assault weapons ban legislation that passed the House Judiciary Committee Wednesday not only prohibits AR-15s and AK-47s, but numerous semiautomatic pistols and shotguns as well.

The legislation, H.R. 1808, is sponsored by Rep. David Cicilline (D-RI).

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) signed a bill Friday allowing private citizens to sue manufacturers and sellers of illegal ghost guns and any firearms which Democrats label assault weapons.

FOX News reports the bill signed by Newsom is modeled after a Texas law that allows private citizens to sue physicians, drivers or anyone else who aids a woman in receiving an abortion for $10,000.

In order to understand the chaos of European politics and the resulting regulation of civilian firearms ownership, one has to step back in time and consider the historic developments. In Europe, to own or carry a weaponnamely a gunwas seldom a right. Sometimes it could become a duty, such as when called up for the defense of the realm. For a select minority, the ruling or aristocratic class, it was considered a privilege, along with the right to hunt on their own estates.

It has been an important few weeks for the public's Second Amendment rights. In the first major gun rights decision since 2008, the U.S. Supreme Court affirmed the right to carry a concealed firearm by striking down a New York state law that made it more difficult for law-abiding citizens to carry a concealed weapon outside their home legally, and wrongfully required individuals to demonstrate a special need for self-protection to qualify for a carry license. This was a major victory that will affect at least six other states with similar restrictive licensing requirements, also known as may issue laws.

Those of us weaned on TV westerns during the Golden Years of television in the 1950s and '60s, or who are just now discovering those thrilling days of yesteryear (to quote from announcer Fred Foys opening monologue of "The Lone Ranger"), have long been fascinated by the rifles and revolvers packed by our tall-in-the-saddle heroes. Im not just referring to their ubiquitous Colt Single Action Armies and Winchester lever actions. Im talking about those specialized guns that still capture our attention after all these years, such as Hugh OBrians Buntline Special in The Life And Legend of Wyatt Earp, which ran from 1955 to 1961 on ABC.

It was 1889 when Amadeo Rossi founded the firearm manufacturing company that bears his nameknown better today as simply Rossiin So Leopoldo, Brazil. The city, established roughly 60 years before the factory opened its doors, is located in the countrys south and was the first to aggressively invite German immigration. Its likely the dedication to precision the Europeans brought played a role in how fast the company established a reputation for quality, although theres no doubt the local workforces skill and ingenuity deserves the bulk of the credit.

After the massacre at Uvaldes Robb Elementary School in May, Jesse Rizo was worried about his old friend, police chief Pete Arredondo. Blame for the botched police response was being directed heavily at Arredondo when Rizo texted him just days after the shooting: Been thinking of and praying for you.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
Congress have no power to disarm the militia. Their swords, and every other terrible implement of the soldier, are the birthright of an American... The unlimited power of the sword is not in the hands of either the federal or state government, but, where I trust in God it will ever remain, in the hands of the people. Tench Coxe, Pennsylvania Gazette, Feb. 20, 1788.
