The Miami Beach Republican, who won election in 2020 by a scant 242 votes, was among four Republican House incumbents endorsed for re-election by the NRA Political Victory Fund. The gun rights group issued grades and endorsements for Florida legislative races on the Aug. 20 ballot.
The NRA also issued an A grade to Basabe based on his voting record.
As an elected official in this divisive climate, I appreciate my work being properly represented, Basabe said as part of an extensive statement provided to Florida Politics. |

The Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) and Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC) are supporting the case, known as Lane v. Rocah. The case challenges the ban on so-called assault weapons in New York state. This motion also opposes a cross-motion from the defendants for summary judgment. Plaintiffs are represented by attorneys Adam Kraut at the Second Amendment Foundation in Bellevue, Wash., Cody J. Wisniewski in Las Vegas, and Nicholas J. Rotsko at FLUET in Tysons, Va. The memorandum was filed in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. |

By comparison, Kamala Harris has been much more circumspect about her anti-gun plans, and despite her maniacal cackle, could prove a more serious opponent to our Second Amendment rights than her former boss ever imagined possible.
Last year, most likely at the insistence of Barack Obama, Biden put Harris in charge of the new White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention, which Biden said would centralize, accelerate, and intensify our work to save more lives more quickly. |

Lets start with the Second Amendment, as Lawrence G. Keane of the National Shooting Sports Foundation observed in a 2020 note to the firearms industry, Failed 2020 presidential candidate Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) is the last announced participant in Everytowns gun control virtual townhall series. The then-senator from the Golden State said she would wave the magic wand of Executive Action to enact sweeping gun control policies if she could, including limiting the number of firearms a licensed retailer could sell each year and removing existing legal protections for firearm manufacturers.
Harris will decimate the Second Amendment. She wants to ban AR-15s as a panacea to resolving crimes. |

Two years after the body voted to ban guns in government buildings, two Surry County supervisors say they want to come armed to board meetings. According to Surry District Supervisor Tim Calhoun, at the start of a July 18 work session, Board of Supervisors Chairman Robert Elliott asked that the meetings agenda be amended to include a discussion of the gun ordinance the supervisors adopted on Nov. 3, 2022, to prohibit the carrying of any firearm, ammunition, components, or combination thereof inside any building or part of a building that is used for governmental purposes by the county and any recreation or community center owned and operated by the county. |

With Kamala Harriss place at the top of the Democratic ticket this November all but guaranteed, attention has now turned to who she plans to tap as the partys vice-presidential nominee.
Despite some conflicting reports about who exactly is currently being vetted by the Harris campaign for the job, a consensus is emerging around a handful of perceived moderate Democrats as being the likely choices. The current Vice Presidents stance on guns is well-established, and she has already signaled that she plans to run on strict gun control. But how do those on her presumed short-list of candidates balance out or accentuate her view on guns? |

The Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty on Wednesday announced the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has agreed to repeal its rule that essentially banned people from carrying a gun near any lake, river or stream in the state.
The rule stated that no one can [p]ossess or control any firearm, gun or
similar device at any time while on the waters, banks or shores that might be used for the purpose of fishing.
WILL lawyer Skylar Croy said the DNRs decision is a win for the Second Amendment, and a win against the growth of the administrative state. |

In a quiet cul-de-sac in Ogden, Utah, an evening that started with routine truck maintenance quickly turned into a scene right out of an action movie for Dane Wise and his neighbor. The unexpected stars of this drama? Two pit bulls with a penchant for aggression.
Dane Wise, a man just trying to tinker with his truck under a covered area, found himself in a sudden showdown with the growling pits.
(They) started getting aggressive and barking at me and growling and trying to get up on the thing, Wise recounted to KSL TV, recalling the dogs sudden hostility. With only a hammer in hand, Wise did what any resourceful truck enthusiast would do he threw it. The dogs fled, giving Wise a moment to arm himself properly. |

Right along those lines, the same legal beagles re-filed the the withdrawn case once more in state court, only this time theyve added a couple of Glock authorized gun shops as defendants. Yes, Eagle Sports and Midwest Sporting Goods now get to spend tens of thousands of dollars defending against a defective lawsuit. At least until Brandons legal team files another two sentence voluntary dismissal.
Does anyone want to take a bet that this latest filing will meet the same end, perhaps even sooner than the original filings? |

This weekend, women across the state are expected to gather at four different locations including Redmond City Hall in a show of support for the Second Amendment. It's a follow-up to a series of pro-gun rallies that were held last weekend in all 50 states.
Preston says she is asking attendees to refrain from bringing open carry rifles even though it's legal to do so. She says she wants to work in partnership with local law enforcement and welcomes everybody to what she says is meant to be a family friendly event. |

Guns are deeply ingrained in American society and the nations political debates.
The Second Amendment to the United States Constitution guarantees the right to bear arms, and about a third of U.S. adults say they personally own a gun. At the same time, in response to concerns such as rising gun death rates and mass shootings, the U.S. surgeon general has taken the unprecedented step of declaring gun violence a public health crisis.
Here are some key findings about Americans views of gun ownership, gun policy and other subjects, drawn from Pew Research Center surveys. |

As Biden and Harris formed the most anti-Second Amendment ticket in history, it should come as no surprise that anti-Second Amendment groups that supported Biden now move to Harris. Here is what these groups had to say of the presumptive nominee.
Following President Joe Bidens announcement today that he will not seek reelection, the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, the nations oldest gun violence prevention group, endorses Vice President Kamala Harris to be the next Democratic presidential candidate, wrote the gun-control group Brady. |

The legality component of that will be challenged, undoubtedly, Abarca said. Ive instructed general council to write these as if theyre going to be policies we are going to enforce, and lets enforce them until were told not to. If that means the states attorney general has to come down and sue the county because were trying to create safe communities, then so be it, Abarca said. Lets take this through the judicial process. Any limits on guns Jackson County or Kansas City want to take are constrained by long-standing state law largely blocking local governments |

The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) has officially endorsed former President Donald J. Trump (R) to be the next president of the United States.
Given Trumps pro-freedom record as president from January 2017-2021, as well as the strong pro-Second Amendment positions he continues to articulate today, this endorsement is hardly a surprise, especially given that the NRA also endorsed Trump in 2016 and 2020. Yet the obviousness of this endorsement shouldnt obscure its importancenot at a moment in history like this. |

On a razor-thin 4-3 vote, the Westminster City Council this week knocked down a proposal that would have opted out of a new state law that prohibits firearms from being brought into local government buildings.
But across town, members of the Aurora City Council gave initial unanimous approval to a similar ordinance exercising a provision that allows local communities to cast off the gun restriction for their own property. The elected leaders of Colorados third-largest city will have to take a second vote on the issue next month to make it final. |
