NEWINGTON -- Frustrated by heavy taxation, some residents here are ready to secede from the state of New Hampshire.

"The doctrine of nonresistance against arbitrary power, and oppression, is absurd, slavish, and destructive of the good and happiness of mankind," reads the constitution.

Resident Guy Young said the state has used the constitution to oppress property-rich towns like Newington. "We found something we could use against them," he said.

Not gun related, but gun-grabber related: Feinstein says if the airline industry will not limit passengers' alcohol consumption, she will.

My favorite part is the airlines' response:"This particular proposal represents poor public policy that would unfairly and unilaterally penalize the hundreds of millions of law-abiding, cooperative passengers simply because of the disruptive and unruly and oftentimes illegal conduct of a few."

This article is called "Guns audit needed for safety." Ha ha ha! For safety of government troopers, maybe.

"In WA [West Australia], the police plan to compile an accurate database that will allow them to match guns with owners and track down thousands of automatic and semi-automatic weapons that were not handed in during the buy-back scheme. The new 38-page VPC study exposes Attorney General John Ashcroft's recent letter on the Second Amendment to the National Rifle Association (NRA) as a shoddy piece of legal and historical research that completely fails to support its radical conclusion --that the Second Amendment protects an expansive individual right to keep and bear arms.

The Smith & Wesson revolver was seized by Canadian authorities as its owner attempted to cross the border. The Canadians destroyed it as contraband. A routine case except for a couple of facts: The owner was a Seattle police officer and the gun belonged to the Seattle Police Department. KABA NOTE: "Ooops....."

Crackdown on illegal weapons -- West Australian police have launched a firearms crackdown to flush out thousands of illegal weapons. The operation will concentrate on the State's 85,000 owners and their 200,000 weapons. Gun owners will have to go to their local police station to present some identification, their gun licence and hand over their weapon to be inspected.
