"This is an important lecture with much fascinating and useful information. One note for those who may, after watching, be disappointed that Halbrook does not make a big deal about -- and actually is not particularly supportive of -- ascribing Nazi motives to latter-day Lagerfhrers: He is a scholar, whose work must be accepted in academic and legal circles, and once you go from being a researcher/recorder to ardent, agenda-driven polemicist, those doors get slammed rather quickly and permanently. His value is where he's at doing what he's doing, presenting honest findings."

Stricter gun control, requiring regular psychological tests for gun owners, was voted into law with no opposition on Tuesday night.
The law, drafted by MK David Tsur (Hatnua), requires that a person undergo psychological assessment before he or she can get a gun license.
The gun owner will have to be examined by a psychologist at least once every six years to renew the license.

San Diego Sheriff Bill Gore said he will protect us and we have no need to protect ourselves. Somehow Sheriff Gore overlooked the thousand of crime victims in June. As usual, most of the victims this month are unarmed and defenseless. Sheriff Bill Gore says he may not issue licenses to carry a concealed weapon for self-defense. In contrast, many other California Sheriffs do exactly that.

The recent shootout between a patient and a psychiatrist in a Philadelphia-area hospital surprised not only the average American, but also psychiatrists around the country.

I had a holy cow reaction--a psychiatrist with gun in his office!? said Dr. Stephen Marder, a schizophrenia expert and director of the section on psychosis at the Semel Institute at the University of California, Los Angeles. The idea of a psychiatrist having a weapon in his desk is entirely new to me. I havent heard of anything like it before.

Psychiatrists and mental health experts interviewed by NBC News didnt see gun-toting doctors as a new trend.

A burglary suspect who police say was shot dead while attempting to flee a Long Beach home this week was not pregnant, coroner's officials said Friday.

The home's owner, who identified himself as Tom Greer in an interview with KNBC-TV Channel 4, said he shot Andrea Miller, 28, even after she begged him not to open fire, claiming she was pregnant. She was shot twice in the back. Her suspected accomplice, 26-year-old Gus Adams, got away but was later arrested.

Prosecutors will have to decide if the evidence shows the immediate threat had subsided by the time Greer fired again, or if he still could reasonably fear for his life.

"As a technical matter, this would be a homicide, possibly second-degree murder or voluntary manslaughter, but that doesn't mean that you should charge everything that's technically an offense," Rosenthal said.

"The problem here is that all this happens very fast and his legal right to use force probably ended just a few seconds before he did use deadly force. So the question is should you charge somebody on the basis of what really was a series of split-second decisions when he's just been robbed and physically assaulted?"

In February, a nine-year-old Arkansas boy called Hank asked his uncle if he could head off on his own from their remote camp to hunt a rabbit with his .22 calibre rifle. I said all right, recalled his uncle Brent later. It wasnt a concern. Some people are like, a nine year old shouldnt be off by himself, but he wasnt an average nine year old.

Hank was steeped in hunting: when he was two, his father, Brad, would put him in a rucksack on his back when he went turkey hunting. Brad regularly took Hank hunting and said that his son often went off hunting by himself. On this particular day, Hank and his uncle Brent had gone squirrel hunting together as his father was too sick to go.

In a new video for NRA News he lays out his rationale for re-writing gun policy in America to acknowledge guns are an individual right that should be as supported and protected by the government as voting or public education.

"We don't have a U.S. gun policy," Johnson says. "We have a U.S. anti-gun policy."

He says current gun policy assumes guns are bad and dangerous. Instead, we should look at guns as necessary and something that improves American lives, he adds. Gun policy should written from the perspective that guns are a "need" and that starts, he says, with arming every school kid.

Over the July Fourth weekend, a bullet-riddled shooting range target was left on the doorstep of the Capitol Hill office of the League of Women Voters of Washington, which has endorsed Initiative 594, a measure that would require background checks for private gun sales.

On Monday, a second target was found two blocks away from the office, pinned to a tree on 17th Street and Madison.

The Seattle Police Department is investigating the incidents as threats.

The chairman told Newsline 9 his neighbor's shooting is part of the noise problem.

"That was just for the gun fire. The other is dog barking and the other one is tire squealing. I have no clue who are doing that," said Walton.

Other residents are worried a neighborly dispute will impact their right to shoot guns on their property.

...

The chairman says he understands the citizens' concerns. "The people here tonight showed what they wanted and they do not want an ordinance so this is their town and this is what we'll do," said Walton. For now, Walton says no noise ordinance is in the works.

Though Trigger the Vote is a nonpartisan voter registration drive, the NRA Freedom Action Foundation is hoping that the push will lead to defeats at the ballot box for gun control activists favorite candidates.

A Southern California UPS delivery driver was arrested Friday for stealing dozens of shipped guns that were sold on the black market, federal prosecutors said.

Curtis Hays, 36, of Rancho Cucamonga, was taken into custody on a federal indictment filed Wednesday in federal court in Riverside.

A call to his attorney, Carlos Juarez, was not immediately returned.

In 2012, the delivery driver allegedly stole packages containing 72 weapons at the UPS shipping hub in Ontario, east of Los Angeles, according to the indictment.

A Florida law restricting what doctors can tell patients about gun ownership was deemed to be constitutional Friday by a federal appeals court, which said it legitimately regulates professional conduct and doesn't violate the doctors' First Amendment free speech rights.

The ruling by the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta overturned a previous decision that had declared the law unconstitutional. An injunction blocking enforcement of the law is still in effect, however.

The 2011 law, which had become popularly known as "Docs vs. Glocks," ...

The Allen County Prosecutor has determined that the first homicide of 2014 was a result of self-defense, and no charges will be filed.

...

The Allen County Sheriffs Department investigation into Millers death, which was declared a homicide, found that Miller attacked a security officer at Dupont Bar and Grill with a broken beer bottle. Miller hit the security guard in the head with the beer bottle, injuring him, at which point the security guard acted in self-defense and shot Miller.

Here are the problems with pretend-gun-free zones.

Another staff person heard arguing and saw the attacker with a gun. They closed their office door and called 911. This is reasonable. However, it took many minutes until SWAT arrived, and the first thing they did was to evacuate the area and lock it down to make sure there wasnt another gunman. Fine, they dont want to be shot, and thats well and good. I dont want cops getting shot, either. But the minutes needed to secure the area equate to many shooting victims when an active shooter is present.

She added:

These comments are especially reprehensible in light of what happened to my good friend Congresswoman Gabby Giffords who suffered a traumatic brain injury as a result of a gunshot wound received during a public event.

Pratts rhetoric essentially invites similar attacks on other members of Congress.

The cops called back to tell her staff that there was no specific danger and [theres] nothing to be done.

The first lady didn't seem to be concerned, Alles said.

"I was worried that maybe she would be concerned enough to not make the trip (because of Polster), but she didn't say a word about it," Alles said. "I'm not even sure they (security) told her."

Alles said Polster's presence seemed to have little effect on the success of the event.

"At first people were a little concerned and then very quickly found out that he was very gentlemanly and civil,' she said. "Some of the walkers started to ask him questions, and he answered very kindly. I don't think people were concerned after that. I think it posed a dilemma at first, but everything worked out fine."

The North American Wildlife Conservation Model is the only one of its kind in the world.

In the mid-1800s hunters and anglers realized they needed to set limits in order to protect rapidly disappearing wildlife, and assume responsibility for managing wild habitats.

Hunters and anglers were among the first to crusade for wildlife protection and remain some of todays most important conservation leaders.

We have made it past the half-way point of SAFs fortieth year protecting gun rights. It has been a tremendous year thus far but much has to be done to make the year a success.

So far in 2014, SAF has earned several legal victories yet continues to undertake new challenges. SAFs biggest event of the year is just around the corner.

This years Gun Rights Policy Conference (GRPC) will take place in Chicago on September 26-28.

Finally we get to the real fruits of the Lefts labor of interpretation legislative intent. Yes, the Second Amendment mentions guns. Yes, it mentions the right to own and bear them. Yes, it says that right shall not be infringed. Yes, America was freed from oppressive British rule thanks to the ability of common individuals to fight back using their own weapons.

But cmon: a right for people to own guns? Thats just absurd.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
The supposed quietude of a good mans allures the ruffian; while on the other hand, arms like laws discourage and keep the invader and the plunderer in awe, and preserve order in the world as well as property. The same balance would be preserved were all the world destitute of arms, for all would be alike; but since some will not, others dare not lay them aside...Horrid mischief would ensue were one half the world deprived of the use of them... Thomas Paine, I Writings of Thomas Paine at 56 (1894).
