On July 28th, the following anti-gun bills will go into effect in Washington:

House Bill 1786 will expand firearm seizures to a wider range of protective orders with little to no due process, and in some cases, will remove a judges discretion as to whether to impose firearm restrictions upon respondents of protective orders.

This story has as happy an ending as we could hope for, but theres more to this tale than a single incident of self-defense. At age 19, the intended victim wouldnt have been able to defend himself with a firearm in many states including Florida, where he couldnt even have legally purchased a firearm before age 21!

Arizona is a Constitutional-carry state, meaning Arizona residents do not have to seek government approval, nor must they submit extortion money, in order to legally carry a firearm for self-defense.

Gun violence often begins at home.

Firearms are a leading cause of injury-related deaths among children, second only to motor vehicle injury deaths. Most of the 7,000 children killed and injured each year are shot are in their own homes. Most of these deaths happen when a child is playing with a gun, mistakenly thinking it was a toy, or was unloaded or locked.

Clearly freedom is on the move thanks to your support of the NRA. But because of the confusing and inconsistent patchwork of carry laws and roadblocks like may-issue, high fees and lack of reciprocity, the struggle is far from over.

The Anti-Gun Lobbys Logic Would Have Outlawed Home VCRs and Almost Did.

That is the world two Hollywood studios aimed to give us in the early 1980s, when they sued all the way up to the U.S. Supreme Court attempting to make home-video recorders illegal. Why? Because people were pirating copyrighted movies and making copies for their friends? No, thats not why manufacturers sold VCRs. But their machines made such illegal uses possible. So, the studios wanted to make VCRs illegal.

Does that logic sound familiar?

Its precisely the same argument anti-gun activists make when they try to hold gun manufacturers liable for criminal misuse of ordinary rifles which they misname assault weapons, such as the commonly-owned AR-15 semi-automatic rifle.

Edwards also voiced concern about a smart gun that responds to fingerprint technology used to unlock smartphones.

"I have trouble unlocking my phone sometimes with my thumbprint or fingerprint, Edwards said. It's annoying when it's your smartphone, but it's a matter of life or death if you're talking about a firearm you're using for self-defense."

"In each of these instances, the 'smart gun' is more complicated, is more prone to failure, there's more points of failure, Edwards warned. It is less useful, to me, as a gun owner for self-defense than an ordinary firearm."

The ink had barely dried on the Treaty of Versailles, which formally ended World War I, when recently returned black veterans grabbed their guns and stationed themselves on rooftops in black neighborhoods in Washington D.C., prepared to act as snipers in the case of mob violence in July of 1919. Others set up blockades around Howard University, a black intellectual hub, creating a protective ring around residents.

San Diego city council just passed a gun storage law that makes it a crime to keep guns in the home unless theyre in a safe or locked safe or disabled. The intention, as is often the case with gun laws, is to prevent mass shootings, teen suicides, and accidental domestic violence. But the reality is this: Making guns more difficult to engage make people less safe.

Some veterans who need appointed help to manage their Department of Veterans Affairs benefits could have their Second Amendment rights threatened, two Congressmen say, so theyve filed a bill to keep that from happening.

The Veterans Second Amendment Protection Act would prevent veterans from losing their Second Amendment right to purchase or own a firearm because they receive help managing their VA benefits, according to a news release from Rep. Phil Roe, R-Tenn., ranking member of the House Veterans Affairs Committee, and Rep. Collin Peterson, D-Minn.

Old Dominion gun owners and Second Amendment activists can now comment on Gov. Ralph Northams multi-tiered gun control agenda as the Virginia State Crime Commission prepares for its hearings Aug. 19-20 on the governors proposals.

Gov. Northam, a Democrat with a long anti-gun record, resurrected his wish list in the wake of the May 31 mass shooting at Virginia Beach, killing a dozen people in what was essentially a gun-free zone. While the gun prohibition lobby has been clamoring for more restrictions on gun owners, the Second Amendment Foundation has called for an end to gun-free zones and legislation has been introduced by several Republican lawmakers to end the Gun-Free School Zones Act.

A conservative coalition in New Mexico filed a state lawsuit on Thursday challenging the constitutionality of new gun laws requiring background checks and requiring accused domestic abusers to surrender their guns.

The lawsuit claims Senate Bill 8, which requires a federal background check of purchasers in a gun sale, violates the Second Amendment because it interferes with private transactions.

[This law] really has nothing to do with decreasing gun violence, said Travis. The left always likes to say that everything they are doing is for decreasing gun violence. Its honestly just to further restrict the ownership enshrined in peoples second amendment rights. According to their own studies that came out of UC Davis that Sacramento paid for, none of the gun laws enacted have actually had any [effect] on gun violence in the state.

Looks like Moms Demand Action (MDA) pulled a fast one on Chipotle and got Chipotle lined up to do a fundraiser for MDA. But there was one problem: Virginia Citizens Defense League activism!

The fundraiser was posted on Virginia Citizens Defense League's Facebook page and people began writing emails to Chipotle protesting the fundraiser.

I sent this email yesterday on behalf of Virginia Citizens Defense League:

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
Government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem.... We've been tempted to believe that society has become too complex to be managed by self-rule, that government by an elite group is superior to government for, by, and of the people. Well, if no one among us is capable of government himself, then who among us has the capacity to govern someone else? All of us together, in and out of government, must bear the burden. The solutions we seek must be equitable, with no one group singled out to pay a higher price. Ronald Reagan
