A little rain didnt stop Moffat Countys 4-H shooting teams from competing for a place at state in the past week.

That little shower was just part of the day, said Coach Jody Lee.

More than a dozen children ages 8 to 18 competed at Bears Ears Sportsman Club in Craig for a chance to move on to the state level in August in Pueblo.

Parents, grandparents and siblings looked on under the shelter of pop-up awnings while the junior and senior 4-H members competed Saturday, July 20.

Theresa Youngs granddaughter, Jamie Perez Young, 9, was one of the youngest competing.

The city of Virginia Beach is the scene of another deadly shooting that has claimed at least one life and put another person in the hospital, but anti-gun Democrat Gov. Ralph Northam is surprisingly silent, and there is little news coverage.

Maybe its because the dead man, and the injured man were shot by a legally-armed citizen while they were allegedly trying to pull an armed robbery at a convenience store. Long story short, a good guy with a gun stopped two bad guys with guns, sending one to the emergency room and the other to the morgue.

A recent study, funded by the National Institute of Justice and conducted by anti-gun researcher Phillip Cook, takes an interesting approach to the question of how long criminals possess a firearm before they are arrested and charged with a firearm-related crime. It is well known, and acknowledged even in this study, that for firearms recovered by law enforcement many years typically pass between the first retail purchase of the misused firearm and its illegal use or possession. The average time-to-crime in the U.S. is over 9 years according to the latest ATF data.

Any fan of Nosler ammo has to be familiar with the Nosler Partition. This premium hunting bullet is one of a kind due to its unique design that is almost like two bullets fused together to create an "H" shape. There are two cores in the Partition bullet, separated by the copper-alloy that jackets the bullet, except for the tip and the base. This is an exposed lead base bullet with a soft tip, and while it shares some similarities with later Nosler lines like the AccuBond, its really in a class of its own.
