A 19-year-old cheerleader for the Texas Tech Red Raiders is defending herself from the jeers of critics, who say her hobby of hunting big-game animals -- and documenting it on Facebook -- promotes animal cruelty. Kendall Jones of Cleburne, Texas, has been posting images of herself posing with some of the animals she's hunted in Africa, including lions, leopards and more -- much to the dismay of animal rights groups. ... But on her Facebook page, Jones takes issue with her critics, claiming that her efforts in Africa are about wildlife conversation.[sic] |

2 NEWS learned that the 16-year-old recently killed during that attempted robbery was shot multiple times, though the Montgomery County Coroner declined to say the exact number of times Isiah Haggins Jr. had been shot.
2 NEWS is asking how is self defense is defined under Ohio law.
In 2008, Ohio passed the Castle Doctrine which allows you to use deadly force when confronted with deadly force in your home or vehicle. But for the workplace, Ohio still upholds its century old defense, but beyond a reasonable doubt. |

Seattle's ban on carrying a knife with a blade more than 3.5 inches long does not violate the 2nd Amendment's right to bear arms, a Washington appeals court ruled.
Police had pulled over Wayne Evans for speeding when they discovered he was carrying a kitchen knife.
Charged with carrying a dangerous knife, Evans said he carried the fixed-blade utensil for protection because he had been "jumped" before in the same neighborhood. |

His status as a felon in illegal possession of a firearm did not preclude that claim of immunity, the 2nd DCA ruled. And, as set forth above, Little established by a preponderance of the evidence that his use of force was justified to prevent his imminent death or great bodily harm as provided for in the law.
The 2nd DCA said it wasnt sure whether the decisions in the Little and Hill cases were in conflict something that makes the Florida Supreme Court more likely to intervene. But in its ruling on Bragdon, the 4th DCA said there was a conflict with the Little ruling. Bragdon asked the justices to hear the case based on that conflict, and lawyers for the state agreed. |

It will surprise the mayor and many other people to learn, Carlson wrote, that gun violence isnt rising in America, its falling. In fact, its plummeting. Gun deaths are down nearly 40 percent in the last 20 years, despite an increase in population and a rise in gun ownership. The Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) points out an even more dramatic number: Non-fatal gun crimes free-fell 69 percent during that same period. |

In continuing coverage, we spoke with Idaho Governor 'Butch' Otter about the Guns on Campus law when he was in Moscow for the Republican State Convention last month.
Governor Otter said state laws already gave people the right to carry on campus, and it was the universities that made policies prohibiting it. He said this new legislation is beneficial because it protects citizens constitutional rights while requiring people wanting to carry on college campuses to go through extra training to obtain an enhanced carry permit. |

What Ive told people around here and wherever people come up to me and say, I cant believe that ruling, or At least you tried what I say is, Wait a minute. This is a fight. This is ten rounds, and we just got knocked down in the first round, and we got back up, and were going to continue the fight. Were not giving up, and were not going to stop.
We are going to file an appeal. We have until July 25 to file our notice of appeal, and our attorneys are already working on it. As Ive said before, District of Columbia v. Heller (2008) and McDonald v. Chicago (2010) werent settled in district court. They both lost their first rounds and had to take it to the Supreme Court to overturn the DC ban and the Chicago gun law. |

A man carrying a holstered firearm entered the store to make a purchase. Another customer, also with a holstered firearm, approached him and demanded to see his identification and firearms license, according to the Valdosta Police Department report.
The customer making demands for ID pulled his firearm from its holster but never pointed it at the other customer, who said he was not obligated to show any permits or identification.
He demanded the man's ID again. Undeterred by the drawn gun, the man paid for his items, left the store and called for police. |

Despite this, all four of these laws passed easily in each state. And in each case, their passage was approved and aided by the least likely of organizations: the NRA.
Over the past year, the NRA has been quietly helping legislators pass this kind of domestic violence legislation, either by promising not to oppose the bills or by actively working with the bills liberal sponsors. After the Minnesota bill passed, Minnesota Democratic State Rep. Dan Schoen said: The NRA has been really good to work with on this particular issue. It pains me to say, but they have been. |

There is considerable irony in Target's decision. The store's trademark is the bull's eye of a target, which is the centerpiece in firearms marksmanship competitions that have been held for a couple of centuries.
Todays statement from Target interim CEO John Mulligan was not out of line with positions taken by other private companies that have seen their stores turned into political football fields. There has been no outright ban instituted, but the store has been put in a tough position by activists on both sides who might consider in the future making political statements on billboards or in newspaper advertisements. |

Yesterday, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie (R) vetoed A.2006/S.993, sponsored by Assembly Majority Leader Louis Greenwald (D-6) and Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg (D-37). This legislation sought to arbitrarily lower New Jerseys magazine restriction from fifteen rounds to ten. New Jersey is one of only a handful of states that already has a restriction on the number of rounds permitted. |

Bryan Miller, executive director of Heeding God's Call, said Christie's veto was a political calculation related to gun-friendlier states such as New Hampshire and Iowa.
"Gov. Christie had an opportunity to do something simple, effective and immediate for the safety of New Jersey's homes, schools and communities, but he failed to do it. Whatever the merits of the unrelated measures he suggested, he failed to make the state safer," Miller said.
The New Jersey Association of Rifle & Pistol Clubs, the National Rifle Association's state chapter, said the bill would have banned a class of popular .22 caliber semi-automatic rifles as well as magazines larger than 10 rounds. |

I first test-fired the GLOCK 42 during SHOT Shows 2014 Media Day at the range. Just unveiled to industry folks and not yet available to the public, GLOCKs smallest pocket pistol created quite a buzz among media members. I immediately saw the value this slim .380 offers to petite women shooters, or to someone looking for a secondary concealed-carry firearm, and requested a sample to review. I even invited my mom to share the GLOCK 42 review experience with me, because I have that much confidence in what this gun can do. |
