"Celebrated gun control supporters from across the nation gather in Washington today for a National Tribute Gala to honor Jim and Sarah Brady, but Marylanders have little to celebrate. Although, Sarah Brady and national anti-gun organizations have given Maryland the only "A" rating for gun control, recent FBI Uniform Crime Reports (UCR) show Maryland has had the highest robbery rate in the nation for the FIFTH consecutive year."

~These are serious charges, indeed. Are we surprised?

One program collected 11,000 small arms used in the latest round of civil war in the Congo by providing combatants with small loans to start businesses.

Another persuaded people of all ages to turn in their guns for jobs or improvements to their communities.

In another, public services are being rebuilt, and people were willing to surrender and give up these weapons.

Const. Webley, too, has no intention of complying with what he calls "a government attempt to infringe on the property rights of law-abiding citizens." He vows he will never register his guns or apply for a licence. "You can just call me a law-abiding criminal," he says. "This is one step towards the government making guns illegal, and as soon as they do that, I'll increase my collection from 14 to 40."

Little Sarah, like many adults today, tells us "a gun could end up killing someone," yet there is not a single documented case of a gun killing someone without the help of a foolish, untrained or criminal-minded person. Innocent, good-hearted Sarah also tells us "guns are dangerous weapons," stating the obvious but with a childlike insinuation that there is something wrong with that fact.

This article appeared in this week's edition of The Phildelphia Gay News. The Pink Pistols have found a way to combat hate crimes against gays, lesbians and other alternative sexualities and support our Second Amendment rights at the same time! And their membership is open to straight folks as well. (I should know. I happen to be straight and one of their members.)
