... "Of course this does not take into account that it took police an hour and a half to respond to the shootingor that citizens and even a policeman on scene were disarmed by Norwegian law. But that never stopped a blood dancer from stomping in puddles to see how far they could spread the spatter." ...

"Consider these recent news headlines:" ...
  • "The Ohio appellate court handed down a critical Second Amendment-bending decision over the weekend in which a minor offense can eliminate one's right to bear arms.

  • "In the latest chapter of the gunrunning scandal known as Operation Fast and Furious, federal officials won't say how two suspects obtained more than 360 weapons despite criminal records that should have prevented them from buying even one gun."
"Shall I go on? I located these headlines in about 30 seconds. I can list more if you like." ...

Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence: No law is a guarantee against the evil it was passed to prevent"

"See what I did there? I took Dennis A. Henigans comment about Norways gun laws out of context. But only just. Truth be told, the Scandanavian spree-killing has, wait for it, wrong-footed the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence. As in the Giffords atrocity in Arizona, the common sense reaction to Anders Breiviks outrage is both simple and visceral: 'if only someone had a gun to shoot the bastard before he shot all those kids.' How does a gun control org square that with Norways tough-as-they-wanna-be gun control regs? With difficulty. Heres the full quote from Henigans Huffington Post huffing and puffing . . ." ...

"A few days ago we reported that Italian firearms manufacturer Chiappa was going to start placing RFID chips into their firearms as part of an internal tracking process. The hairs on the back of American gun owners' necks tingled at the thought (and not in a good way). Missing the 'golden 24' (hours) of PR response time, MKS Distributing has released their own press release in response to the increased blog traffic regarding the the RFID chips. The American Distributor for Chiappa and Hi-Point promptly shot themselves in the foot . . ." ...

"Kurt Hofmann, the St. Louis Gun Rights Examiner, and I had our own little 'blogger meet' today in southern Illinois. We met for lunch in Edwardsville which is home to Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville. It is also the county seat of Madison County which is also famous - or infamous depending on your inclinations - for the number of class-action lawsuits that have been filed in its courts." ...

TTAG Question of the Day: Do You Walk the Walk?

"Here at TTAG, we talk a lot about concealed carry, including the what, when, who, why and how of it. But theres one topic we dont really delve into a lot, and thats the whole thing about if you have a concealed carry permit, how often do you actually carry? I bring this up, because when it comes right down to it, carrying is not just a huge responsibility (from civil, criminal, self-defense, and safety perspectives), its also requires a lot of dedication . . ." ...

Ammunition Review: .300 AAC Blackout

"There are problems with the 5.56x45mm NATO round, especially out of short barreled guns. Its loud, its underpowered, and it refuses to penetrate anything much thicker than a sheet of aluminum. Many have tried over the years to fix this problem ... They all work, but they all have fatal flaws. AAC has come out with a new round that they claim works with existing AR magazines, bolts, bolt carriers, and fixes all the short distance and short barreled problems of the 5.56mm NATO round while still being as quiet as an MP5-SD. Naturally we asked them to put up or shut up, and they invited me out to their Atlanta, Georgia factory to do just that. The put up part, that is." ...

Gun trafficking as compared to William Newell's definition of 'gunwalking'

"In discussing 'Project Gunwalker,' this column tries to observe the perhaps small (but nevertheless important) distinction between directly trafficking guns, and 'walking' them. That's why readers will find instance after instance of reference being made here to the [ATF's] 'facilitating the trafficking' of guns. Basically, the accusation being made here is not that the BATFE directly trafficked the guns. Instead, they strongly pressured gun dealers into proceeding with sales those dealers would otherwise never have touched, because of the obviously nefarious intent on the part of the purchasers." ...

"As reported yesterday, the ultra-Leftwing, George Soros-funded 'Media Matters' confronted the reporter who first broke the ATF gun smuggling scandal as he sat outside the committee hearings on the subject in the U.S. House of Representatives on Tuesday. Shoving a cell phone camera in his face, the Media Matters propagandist demanded to know why Mike Vanderboegh had 'lied' about the Tampa field office of the ATF smuggling guns into Honduras." ...

"Dick DeGuerin is the attorney for Carter's Country gun shop in Houston. After being criticized for being one of the stores that sold guns that were found in Mexico and traced to the U.S., it came out that they only went ahead with sales at the request of the ATF. If this sounds similar to what we heard Phoenix area gun store owners say, it is." ...

"Sometimes you just cant catch a break. No matter what you think, the rock and roll lifestyles not an easy one. ... Traveling all the time. Never knowing what city youre in. Halfheartedly fending off groupies. It all takes a toll. You need to relax and blow off some steam sometimes. Then someone offers to take you out for some shooty fun. "The above video from the Quartzsite Town Council meeting is busy going viral, demonstrating as it does a distinct lack of democracy and a surfeit of police intervention. Needless to say theres a story behind the story. And a story after the story, wherein the bad guy of the piece (Town Councilman Joe Winslow) convinced a local justice of the peace to order cops to confiscate the firearms of local gem dealer and online entrepreneur Michael Roth. ..." ...
