FOXNews.com -- In spite of all the changes, the administration promises gun control laws will be enforced even more vigorously than they were under President Clinton. When they unveiled their budget proposal earlier this year, Justice Department officials said an additional 113 federal prosecutors would be hired nationwide to work in U.S. Attorneys offices solely on the problem of gun violence and gun crimes.

LATimes.com -- "If you're a federal agent in Oregon these days, the law requires you to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth--even when you're working undercover. And that has brought major law enforcement operations all over the state to a virtual standstill."

According to We The People (GiveMeLiberty.org), last week's signed agreement "commits the government to send their top tax and legal experts to a two-day September hearing to be conducted on Capitol Hill." But the Department of Justice (DOJ) indicated that their "interpretation" of the agreement is "not wholly accurate" -- so the DOJ will likely not participate in any such hearing, a department spokeswoman said.

The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco, Calif., ruled that suspending a student for writing a poem with violent imagery was an appropriate response.

While the court acknowledged that the poem is protected under the First Amendment right to free speech, it said the school district acted properly in suspending LaVine because of fears that he could have carried out what he had written.

"When you strip away the NRA's disingenuous rhetoric about enforcing the law, the gun lobby's true agenda is laid bare: promoting the widespread ownership and use of firearms by eliminating any laws that make it harder to get them."
--Mathew S. Nosanchuk, litigation director and legislative counsel at Violence Policy Center (VPC.org)

~LOL! I'd like to believe it! But NRA's support for the Brady Bill and Project Exile don't make it seem likely.

"The United Nations "small arms" conference has concluded, with no immediate damage done to individual rights thanks to the magnificent performance of the Bush administration. But the conference will be back five years hence, and the next five years will see continued efforts by the United Nations to find ways to undermine the right to keep and bear arms." -by Dave Kopel of i2i.org

It's high time we conservatives took the offensive in the battle for the Second Amendment, isn't it? Because that's what the debate is about. This tiff between conservatives and liberals isn't about gun control. What's at stake is the very existence of the Second Amendment itself. Anti-gun nuts, in their more honest moments, will admit this.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it. RONALD REAGAN (1986)
