The number of active concealed pistol licenses in Washington State soared by more than 11,200 in June, a possible reaction to a continuing spike in violent crime, and it is the second-largest number of CPLs issued in a single month since April 2013 when the number soared by 13,932 licenses, according to new data from the state Department of Licensing.

In practice, American politics has always feared but in theory sanctioned slave revolts. Slave revolts are denounced, at least by implication, in the Declaration of Independence itself. The charges against the King culminate in this: He has excited domestic Insurrections amongst us, and has endeavoured to bring on the Inhabitants of our Frontiers, the merciless Indian Savages, whose known Rule of Warfare, is an undistinguished Destruction, of all Ages, Sexes and Conditions. The domestic Insurrections refer to the British recruitment of slaves into an army that would put down the colonials rebellion and guarantee their own emancipation. |

Gun sales in America, as estimated by background checks, have fallen sharply this year. This is not due to regulations, which though critical to protecting the population are not in place. Some attribute this decline to a shortage in ammunition. Others say that the anxiety created by COVID-19 and social unrest has waned.

Several small business owners spoke with News 12 Long Island about the states new gun rules signed into law Friday by Gov. Kathy Hochul. The new rules will require people applying for a handgun license to turn over a list of their social media accounts, so officials can verify their "character and conduct." Also, people applying to carry a handgun will also have to provide four-character references, take firearms safety training and undergo periodic background checks. |

One type of handgun that seems to be creeping further and further into the niche category is the mid-size, double-action revolver chambered for rimfire cartridges. This is a shame, since they are so fun to shoot. Thats why I was glad to see that Armscor added rimfire options to the the Czechoslovakian Alfa Proj double-action revolver series in its Rock Island Armory catalog. In fact, the company offers an often-elusive .22 WMR (more commonly known as .22 Mag.) option in addition to .22 LR models. Dubbed the AL22M, this .22 Magnum is available in either blued or stainless steel finishes with 4" barrels.

This Independence Day, we at OHUB would like to share some of the Outdoor Freedoms we are thankful for in the United States of America. When one looks at modern politics and finances and the current situation we have in this country, theres a lot that is grim and negative. It can be almost to much to bear sometimes. Just like getting outside and recreating, taking the time to be grateful can help one focus on the big picture of the freedoms that we have, and we have quite a few to be thankful for.

The last century of American military rifles has been a whirlwind of innovation meant to meet an ever-changing battlefield and game-changing technological advances in both ammunition and firearms tech. From two world wars and the Cold War to current conflicts, only a relatively small number of firearms have actually earned the position as the U.S. militarys standard-issue rifle. These firearms have helped conquer hostile beaches, fought in jungles and deserts, and earned a place as legendary firearms in American military history.

Theres no shortage of westerns with a derringer pulled from a card-playing desperados boot. The scene is almost iconic, featuring guns designed to imitate the looks of the classic double-barreled, but diminutive, Remington Model 95. As a backup or primary carry gun the approach is ideal, but the original carries a large inventory of safety concerns. Bond Arms elegantly addressed each of them in a clever, over-under derringer design that adds versatility without sacrificing fight-stopping performance. |

Because I still have a strong English accent, Independence Day tends to bring with it a whole host of good-natured jokes at my expense. Didnt we kick you out? my friends like to ask. Others invite me to send condolences to the Queen, or inquire, sardonically, Tell me: Are you rooting for the colonists, or for George III?

In the land of the rimfire rifle cartridge, the 22 long rifle with its 40-grain bullet remains the most popular round for plinking and light pest control.
However, sometimes a .22LR simply isnt powerful enough to take on larger varmints, like coyotes, and lacks the muzzle velocity to take down prairie dogs at longer ranges.

Many of us grew up believing the old adage, A mans home is his castle. We even took that to mean that our home was sort of a sanctuary from all of the troubles of the world. Of course, we know that that is not the case. In fact, it has probably never been the case. Mostly just wishful thinking, I guess.
