"Richard Smith, a Washington lawyer who filed a brief in support of Gonzales, said victims of domestic violence 'will read this opinion to mean that protection orders are not worth the paper they're printed on, and that impression would be false,' he said." |

"Normally follow-up stories provide information about an arrest and charges being filed in a crime case. This story on the 5/3 Bank, Centerville, robbery releases a video of the robber. What jumped out of the report by WHIO TV-7 in Dayton was 'At this time, officers are not sure why the bank was targeted.'"
"I just don't understand that statement. Why does anyone rob a bank? My guess is 'for the money'. Maybe there is a thrill factor but I'm going with the money. Crime studies often note that location is a large factor in bank robberies. When Columbus led Ohio in the number of bank robberies, the theory was the easy access to interstate highways for quick get-away (excluding rush hour traffic)." |

"SO, NOW the Daily News agenda is to attack licensed gun dealers and blame them for gun-related deaths in Philly instead of putting the blame on the perpetrators and punishing them with proper jail sentences, instead of slap on the wrist revolving-door nonsense."
"Be honest, this is just another ploy to further your ban-guns agenda. Well, just remember one thing, Philly residents and, especially, African-American citizens: When slavery was eliminated by Lincoln, the carpetbagger politicians down South tried to prevent the black man from owning firearms by order of Congress because they understood that you can't beat, bully or lynch an armed citizen. The Second Amendment truly made them equal." |

"If you think guns don't have any place on or near school property, don't move to Utah."
"A change in Virginia's law allows people with a concealed-weapons permit to carry loaded firearms when picking up students from school - as long as the guns are concealed and are kept inside vehicles."

"Hanover County resident Patricia Webb is a business owner in the Beaverdam area who has a concealed-handgun permit. She often carries a gun."
"She has a teenage daughter who attends Patrick Henry High School."
"And until Friday, Virginia law had prohibited anyone other than law-enforcement officials from possessing loaded guns on school property. Individuals with concealed-weapon permits could have an unloaded gun with them in their vehicle, but it had to be in a case or on a gun rack."
"New gun law 'common sense,' proponents say" "So when Webb had to pick her daughter up from school unexpectedly, she would stop down the road from the school, pull her gun from its concealed holster, unload it and secure the gun and the ammunition before proceeding on to the school."
"She won't have to go through that routine any more." |

Q & A: Stella Edwards
Q. What would you say to gun owners who say they are law-abiding citizens whose permits should allow them to carry a gun anywhere they go?
A. To those law-abiding, permit-carrying citizens . . . the Virginia PTA would strongly request that they put the health, safety and welfare of all students, teachers and other school personnel at a higher priority than their personal desire to simply not be inconvenienced. |

"And he does."
"'What burns me is this legislation basically aims at taking my guns away,' said Hamilton, an ER doctor at Mercy Medical Center who also writes a wilderness medicine column for the Record Searchlight. 'Sure, it's ammunition legislation, but what it really comes down to is they want to take our guns away, and it's just not right.'"
"Hamilton was talking about two pieces of legislation currently before the California Legislature, SB357 and AB352."
