Private citizens and gun rights groups are increasingly using Americas court system to wage war against gun control, the San Diego Union-Tribune observed. The Union-Tribune pointed to District Court Judge Roger T. Benitezs June 4, 2021, ruling against Californias 30-year-old assault weapon ban.y.

Quite possibly the most iconic cartridge in the United States, the .45 Colt was developed by gunmaker Samuel Colt as a black powder cartridge in 1872, for the Colt Single Action Army (aka the Peacemaker) revolver. This cartridge features a .454-inch bullet inside a rimmed, straight-walled case that measures 1.285 inches in length. Commonly called the .45 Long Colt (LC), the overall length of the round is 1.6 inches. It features a large pistol primer and is pressurized to 14,000 pounds per square inch (psi).

I want to put violence in perspective. Lets start with a common set of facts before we argue about their significance. I saw an infographic about firearms from 2013 and I wanted to update it. 2019 is the last year where I could find complete data from both the US Department of Justice and the US Center for Disease Control. I want to put those facts into perspective so we see the real picture. This is what I found.

Officials in Tucson plan to ignore a new Second Amendment Sanctuary law signed earlier this year that bars the use of any state or local resources to enforce federal gun laws that conflict with state law. The move by Democratic Mayor Regina Romero and the City Council again puts the city and state at odds over how to regulate gun sales and use.

The San Jose City Council voted unanimously to approve some of the most-overreaching gun-control measures this country has ever seen. The nations 10th-largest city will now require every gun owner to have liability insurance coverage for firearms ownership. Not satisfied with one overreaching measure, the city will also require gun owners to pay an annual fee to relieve the public cost of gun violence.

President Joe Bidens latest round of attacks on guns is helping to drive a historic sales surge that continues to leave store shelves bare of firearms and ammunition. Industry officials said that June sales were the second-highest ever for the month, at about 1.3 million. Only June 2020 had a higher number for that month, at 2,177,586. To be clear, said Mark Oliva, spokesman for the National Shooting Sports Foundation, June 2021 is the second-highest June on record.

The Heritage Firearms Barkeep is a rimfire rendition of the classic short-barreled Colt Sheriffs Model Peacemaker. The Barkeep comes standard with a 2″ barrel and a steel .22 LR cylinder. However, a drop-in .22 Win Mag sort offers a little extra punch for a paltry $30. This adorable little period recreational hogleg is the perfect low cost way to kill a lazy Saturday afternoon plinking at the range.

Some of the key moderate Democratic senators needed to confirm President Biden's pick to run the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, David Chipman, are still undecided about whether they will vote for the controversial nominee who has a history of working with high-profile gun control groups. Chipman, who also has a history of undiplomatic comments about guns, gun owners and how to enforce gun laws, is staunchly opposed by most Republicans.

Although there is no shortage of semi-auto shotguns on the market these days, the new VRF14 from Rock Island is a bit different from the competition. Shipping without a buttstock and fitted with a 14-inch barrel, the Rock Island VRF14 is not technically a shotgun but is sold as a 12-gauge "firearm" in much the same class as the Mossberg Shockwave series and Remington's discontinued TAC-14 and V3 TAC-13.

When the pandemic hit hard in the United States and Colorado starting early last year, Colorado Parks and Wildlife personnel like Travis Duncan had little idea what it would mean for hunting activity and whether to expect applications for 2020 big-game primary draw licenses to go up or down.

In 2004, the Hornady Manufacturing Company introduced the .17 Hornady Mach 2 (.17 HM2) using a .22 LR case that had been extended and necked down. This cartridge should not be mistaken for the Hornady .17 HMR, which is based on the case of a .22 Magnum. The .17 HM2 is designed to take varmint at 100 yards or more, and performs the task admirably. It develops a similar amount of energy as the .22 LR in foot pounds, but it travels at a higher velocity resulting in a flatter bullet trajectory.
