The most remarkable thing about civil unrest is that there hasn't been more of it.
Politicians are making a hash of this country and much of the rest of the civilized world. We know it. They know it. They know we know it. But we don't feel we can do anything much to stop them.
That right there is the pre-condition for civil unrest when people are frustrated and politicians are nervous. |

If this administration is busy killing the rule of law in this country (and it is), why should we expect anything less in its foreign policy? The "Rule of Law," madam, is dead. However, the "Rule of Man" should take no comfort from its competitor's demise. In the chaos that will ensue, both within and without our country, the Obamanoids will discover that if the law no longer protects the least of us, it does not protect the Mandarin class either. If power and power alone is now the rule of the day, and eat or be eaten the mantra, the previously law-abiding can develop an appetite as well, if only in self-defense. And there are very many more of us than there are of them. |

Quote: On the heels of the U.S. Supreme Court's recent ruling on the 2nd Amendment which reinforces every American's right to bear arms, this show is a fly on the wall at "The Shootist" gun store in Englewood, Colorado, where salesman Josh Ryan is always in full-on pitch mode -- and the steady stream of customers never stops. And for every gun sold by this expert gunslinger at this family-owned store, there's a fascinating story and a fascinating buyer to tell it to him: the new parent who wants to protect his family; the teenager who's an expert hunter; the 30-something woman who feels a little more at ease with a revolver in her purse and the avid collector who simply has a fascination with guns of all kinds. We now know the name of the man shot and killed Sunday morning in rural Clark County. We also know the name of the man who shot him.
Kentucky State Police tell us the victim was 45-year-old Rodney Mann of Lexington. The shooter is Charles Steppe. Police say Steppe saw Mann slashing the tires of his vehicle when he confronted him. The two men then fought over a handgun. Steppe got the gun, and says Mann came at him with a knife. Thats when Steppe says he shot Mann in self-defense. |

Gun legislation on both the state and national levels is inevitable because of the makeup of both state and national legislative bodies.
Its time for gun owners, be they hunters, sport shooters, people who own guns for self and family protection and even trappers who own guns to dispatch their trapped animals to put down any petty differences they may have with one another and get active. If you cant volunteer to work against some of these very restrictive laws that are in the works, the least you can do is to join the NRA or our own states very effective Gun Owners of New Hampshire (GO-NH).

I received this negative reaction below to Bob Wright's YouTube speech posted earlier. Part 0ne, here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTRJB8S09QA
and Part Two, here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lyyefXBSXSQ After I forwarded it to Bob for comment, he responded far more thoughtfully than I would have. Bob's reply reflects the lessons learned in the 90s when we made mistakes based on inexperience. Bob obviously learned those lessons better than I did.

I strongly agree with MUCH of what Bob Wright said. Sadly, Mr. Wright flushes the credibility of his cause and principles down the toilet when he speaks of his support and submission to "law enforcement".

According to the complaint, Sanchez saw the suspects drive away, called 911 and drove after them in an attempt to get their license plate number.
But the two men allegedly stopped their van and that's when Sanchez told investigators they approached his truck.
Sanchez said 29-year-old Gary Gabaldon, a man with a lengthy criminal history, broke his car window, hit him in the face repeatedly and tried to pull him from his vehicle.
Sanchez said he feared for his life and reached for a gun on the car seat and fired a shot.
Even though Sanchez said it was in self defense, Rivera said they have to charge him anyway.
"He admitted to shooting and killing someone," Rivera said. |

If you happen to be looking for a GLBTQ gun club, youre in luck, because there are two organizations in the Twin Cities that cater to the GLBTQ gun enthusiast. The North Star Gay and Lesbian Gun Club, an offshoot of the Pink Pistols, is now starting to have meetings again after a brief hiatus; and new organizers are reviving the dormant Twin Cities chapter of the Pink Pistols, a national GLBTQ shooting club.
The Pink Pistols take their name from a Salon.com article written in 2000 by Jonathan Rauch that suggested that members of the gay community should respond to homophobia-related violence by arming themselves with guns. |

Things turned ugly. The lawyer spoke bitter words. When the trooper threatened an arrest for breach of the peace, the lawyer reminded him that an officers peace cannot easily be breached. The trooper then shoved the young lawyer, who defended himself by raising his hands. On impact, the lawyer was forced backward, injuring a finger he uses to pick chords on the guitar he plays with professional ease.
I tripped, the trooper now said, so accustomed to lying.
The lawyer demanded that a criminal complaint be sworn against the trooper. For hours, he waited in the lobby of the barracks for someone to take his complaint. ...word filtered out from state police that troopers were now seeking a warrant for the lawyers arrest. |

Attorney General Mike Cox today announced he has filed an amicus brief with the U.S. Supreme Court in support of the National Rifle Association's (NRA) challenge of a City of Chicago ordinance banning possession of most handguns. Cox joined at least 33 other states in supporting the NRA's request for the court to hear an appeal in National Rifle Association v. City of Chicago, a local case with national implications.
"The right to keep and bear arms is fundamental," said Cox. "The Supreme Court recognized this in the Heller case, and I am confident they will protect this right yet again. No government should impinge on the basic right to defend yourself." |

Gun dealers in New Jersey may have to limit handgun sales to one gun per customer per month if Gov. Jon Corzine signs a controversial law the state Senate passed on June 27, a measure that had its start in Jersey City.
The One Handgun a Month bill was originally an ordinance proposed by Jersey City Mayor Jerramiah Healy and adopted by the City Council in June 2006. The intent was to cut down on straw purchases, legal bulk purchases of handguns which are then illegally sold to individuals who have not passed background checks for a license.
The city ordinance was challenged in state Supreme Court by Jersey City gun dealer Frank Caso with help from the National Rifle Association.

A proposed ordinance controlling gunfire noise in south Santa Rosa County wont close a private firing range on Soundside Drive near Gulf Breeze that has upset neighbors. Advertisement
A proposal discussed Monday at the Santa Rosa County Commissions regular workshop regulates gun noise in neighborhoods.
Specifically, the ordinance limits gunfire in a single-family residential zone to no more than five shots audible from inside a home within a 30-minute period.
The ordinance would not prohibit noise generated from legal self-defense or hunting, and would only be effective south of the East River.
The new ordinance does not cover an existing private firing range in the 4700 block of Soundside Drive owned by Dr. William Howe II. |

The number of people seeking gun permits has soared in Kentucky and Indiana this year, apparently sparked by fears that President Barack Obama's administration has an anti-firearms agenda. Advertisement
In Jefferson County, for example, the number of applications processed in February and March were triple those the same months last year and nearly doubled through May, to 1,484.
Statewide figures show a similar trend. Kentucky State Police say they issued 16,114 licenses last year to carry concealed deadly weapons. The number issued through June 29 this year was already 15,531. |

"We are not going to say that it is totally self-defense at this point. We want to finish our investigation, which is going to take awhile."
Terry said the fight started when Robinson accused Johnson of being unfaithful. Terry said Johnson did not appear intoxicated but that she said Robinson had been drinking. A toxicology report also will be done on Robinson. Terry said Robinson did not have a history of domestic violence.
Johnson was released today on a personal-recognizance bond, and Terry said he does not consider her a flight risk.
"Our job is to find the truth, not convict her," Terry said. "We feel like the truth is she was probably in fear for her life and she acted to protect her life." |

The shot that murdered 26-year-old Neda Agha Soltan in Iran has been called "the shot heard round the world." That of course is a reference to Ralph Waldo Emerson's poem commemorating the Battle at the Concord Bridge in 1775, which begins:
By the rude bridge that arched the flood, Their flag to April's breeze unfurled, Here once the embattled farmers stood And fired the shot heard round the world.
But there is a huge difference between these two shots, a difference not just in hundreds of years and thousands of miles. The shot that took Neda was for brutality and darkness. It was fired not just to stop her young heart, but to destroy the demand for dignity and fairness. |

Sixty-three percent (63%) of men say the threat of more gun control is behind increased sales, compared to 51% of women. Fifty-nine percent (59%) of whites agree, while African-Americans are more closely divided on the question.
You may read the entire article from Rasmussen here.
It is good to know that 75% of Americans believe the constitution guarantees the right to own a gun. A whopping 92% of Republicans say the Constitution guarantees their right to own a gun, compared to 64% of Democrats and 71% of adults not affiliated with either of the major political parties. |

The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA) is poised to fight New Jersey Senator Frank R. Lautenbergs (D-NJ) legislation in the Senate which is designed to expand his gun prohibition agenda under the cloak of national security. Lautenbergs Denying Firearms and Explosives to Dangerous Terrorists Act of 2009 would place unprecedented authority in the hands of the Attorney General to deny someone their Second Amendment rights without having been convicted, or even charged, with any crime. |

A restaurateur and others who serve alcohol asked the Tennessee Attorney General to join them in opposing a proposed law that will expressly allow loaded guns in bars. The Legislature overrode Gov. Phil Bredesen's veto and the law is slated to take effect on July 14.
It will make Tennessee the first state to expressly allow people to carry a loaded, concealed gun into a bar, according to the complaint in Davidson County Court.
...
The petitioners charge the state with public nuisance, due process violations, state-created vigilantism and other charges.
They are represented by David Smith and Adam Dread. |
