If you really want to know how ignorant anti-gunner are, you have to read this. These are elected officials trying to trample our gun rights who cannot see why anyone would buy a gun for self defense. Maybe it is because they do not have to worry about self defense. Get rid of their entourage or body guards and have them walk the streets like the rest of us and then they can tell us how safe it is. Did you know that we buy guns because we cannot afford Ferraris? Did you know that Joe "shotgun" Biden said that? Read on.

A high-powered rifle lost in the ATFs Fast and Furious controversy was used to kill a Mexican police chief in the state of Jalisco earlier this year, according to internal Department of Justice records, suggesting that weapons from the failed gun-tracking operation have now made it into the hands of violent drug cartels deep inside Mexico.
Luis Lucio Rosales Astorga, the police chief in the city of Hostotipaquillo, was shot to death Jan. 29 when gunmen intercepted his patrol car and opened fire. Also killed was one of his bodyguards. His wife and a second bodyguard were wounded.

Lawyers for George Zimmerman will spend this week trying to convince a jury of his innocence.

Their efforts are the second part of a trial in which for two weeks, state attorneys cast Zimmerman as an aggressor who profiled and murdered Trayvon Martin. The jury will weigh the prosecutors' version of events against the defense's story of a man who, while trying to be a good neighbor, was attacked by a teen and shot him in self-defense.

Elaborating on his prediction on Good Morning America yesterday that George Zimmerman would be acquitted, ABC Chief Legal Affairs Anchor and Mediaite founder Dan Abrams wrote Sunday on ABCNews.com that, Based on the legal standard and evidence presented by prosecutors it is difficult to see how jurors find proof beyond a reasonable doubt that it wasnt self defense.

Guns: Since the initial US government did not trust standing armies, it relied on the militia. This was the interpretation of the Second Amendment. This changed when the National Rifle Association began funding promotional material and conservative legal scholars began pushing the individual right interpretation. The Roberts court has hewed to this approach. Coyle discusses in depth District of Columbia v. Heller (2008). The court asserted that the Second Amendment guarantees an individual right to possess a gun in the home for self-defense. Majority: Roberts, Scalia, Kennedy, Thomas, Alito; Dissent: Stevens, Souter, Ginsberg, Breyer.

The Capitol Hill Seattle blog has tentatively identified the slain gunman as Joel Reuter, while the Seattle Times and Seattle P-I.com have so far withheld his identity pending confirmation by the Medical Examiners office. The man killed by Seattle police was known to have mental issues, and should not have had a firearm, a fact confirmed by interim Police Chief Jim Pugel in the Times coverage.

When Charleston County Sheriff Al Cannon talks about the right to bear firearms, he doesn't just talk about citizens defending themselves against home invaders, carjackers, robbers and murderers.

He talks about the Founding Fathers and the Revolutionary War. He talks about Americans' need to oppose tyranny and about Nathan Hale, a colonial spy who died for such a cause when British soldiers hanged him in 1776.

The sponsor of legislation to allow the concealed carry of firearms on Saturday ripped Gov. Pat Quinns ongoing efforts to make the measure more restrictive, saying the Chicago Democrat is pandering to voters in Cook County and that his actions could lead to mayhem across Illinois.

Rep. Brandon Phelps, D-Harrisburg, said lawmakers approved the legislation because they believed it was preferable to missing a court-ordered deadline to end Illinois last-in-the-nation state ban on the public possession of firearms. That deadline is Tuesday the same day Phelps expects the Legislature to override Quinns amendatory veto.

Security officials and lawmakers in the Kurdistan Region remain divided over solving the autonomous enclaves gun problem, differing over whether to collect weapons illegally owned by people or impose licensing regulations and tight ownership laws.

After decades of conflict, including the downfall of Saddam Hussein following the massive 2003 US-led invasion, all of Iraq has been flooded with weapons, and the autonomous Kurdistan Region is no exception. There is no official data to show the number of weapons owned by civilians, but it is high enough to concern security officials.

The motion was well-reasoned, and strongly founded on Floridas case law. It was also doomed to fail before a Judge who has consistently denied reasonable defense motions out of hand, while rubber-stamping motions by the State that bear not the slightest relevancy to the facts of this case.

After the school shooting last December in Newtown, Conn., Dave Hollenbach felt compelled to do something, to create something that might be able to save lives in the future.

The graphic designer and veteran now has a provisional patent for a bulletproof student desk, and created a prototype in his basement on Uhler Drive. His design fits onto an existing elementary school desk. A fiberglass panel, sandwiched between two laminated boards, stops the bullets. In his design, the top of the desk is on a hinge, and can flip up to make a shield. Another panel is fitted to the front of the desk, and extends down to the floor.

After the deadly school massacre in Newtown, Conn., top Rhode Island leaders gathered to recommend ways to crack down on gun violence. Topping the list were proposals to ban semiautomatic assault weapons and high-capacity magazines.

...

Yet the gun control legislation was left to languish when lawmakers adjourned their 2013 session Wednesday. Other proposals to change the way handgun permits are awarded or to require gun owners to pay a $100-per-gun registration fee also failed after huge protest rallies at the State House.

Many of the bills were filed after the shooting massacre at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn. Lawmakers will look at legislation that could ban types of ammunition, create new firearms charges, create a registry for gun offenders and require background and mental health checks on buyers.

One of the proposed bills could limit gun purchases to one per month and require gun license applicants to sign a waiver allowing police to access their mental health records.

In less than 24 hours, a decision could be made regarding the controversial Open Carry law.

A judge temporarily blocked the law from going into effect, which makes it legal for people to openly carry a gun and other weapons without a permit.

Monday, there's a hearing to see if the injunction will stay in place or be lifted. But many South Mississippians are already getting "no weapons" signs printed before they find out the decision.

Gun rights advocates rallied together in Washington, D.C. Wednesday for the Toy Gun March.

An NBC affiliate reported that activists were armed with toy guns, water pistols and high-capacity Super Soakers while they marched from Arlington to the National Mall for a peaceful protest.

While attendance was much lower than anticipated, event organizer Austin Petersen didnt seem at all disappointed, as their primary focus was to get their message out, which they successfully did.

The Second Amendment Foundation, which works to protect the constitutional right installed by the founders to reduce the opportunity for tyranny, is asking for all the records from New York Mayor Michael Bloombergs Mayors Against Illegal Guns.

It seems there have been reports that the taxpayers of New York were subsidizing the mayors pet project by hosting the site on city servers, and there may even have been more direct use of taxpayer funds for the mayors campaign.

Legislators would need a two-thirds vote in both the House and Senate to override Nixon's veto when they return to session in September. The bill passed in May with bipartisan support. For an override to succeed in the House, Republicans would need to secure 109 votes, which is the exact number of Republican lawmakers in that chamber.

House Speaker Tim Jones on Friday said he was "shocked and astounded" by the veto.

"I believe a supermajority of Missourians want us to override this bill," said Jones, R-Eureka, but he added that a decision on whether to try won't be made until at least next month.

Yet each would have to feign a lack of even basic knowledge of the U.S. Constitution to explain how they believed that a bill they pressed toward law could be constitutionally sound.

Gov. Jay Nixon vetoed the thing Friday.

Nixon pointed out that its overreach would mean that newspapers could be breaking the law when they print photos of hunters with their trophy bucks. Thats in addition to trampling all over the supremacy clause.

Chicago a city with some of the strictest gun control laws in the country had a deadly weekend of gun violence! The state that just recently passed legislation allowing citizens to Conceal Carry is not the shining example of Gun Control that the Anti's would be proud of or bragging about if they had their way... it's an aberration and despicable example of the Anti's trampling of the 2nd Amendment.

It probably struck some people as counterintuitive to see former congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, D-Ariz., fire a handgun on Monday toward a target at a Las Vegas firing range.

But Giffords, shot in the head in a January 2011 assassination attempt by Jared Lee Loughner in which six others were killed, remains a gun rights advocate despite the extensive injuries she suffered. In an op-ed published Monday in USA Today, Giffords insisted, "I'm a patriot, and I believe the right to bear arms is a definitive part of our American heritage."
