Manny Gomez, a former FBI agent and a security expert, said the video shows the person who shot Small acting very nonchalantly and that is not indicative of someone who felt threatened. Gomez watched the video, which seems to contract what NYPD sources initially said happened.
Those sources claimed that small pummeled the officer through his car window, and that when Isaacs shot Small in the head and chest he was acting in self-defense. |

But the questionnaire serves another purpose: It essentially amounts to a list of promises that candidates are expected to keep if they get elected to office. Especially for those conservatives who on the survey identify as pro-gun rights, they will be expected to vote accordingly when the time comes. The NRA issues letter grades to lawmakers based on how closely they adhere to the groups platform, and anything less than an A can be used against a conservative candidate in future elections.

The world's smallest production firearm is the Kolibri (German for "hummingbird"), designed by a German watchmaker by the name of Franz Pfannl. About a thousand of these tiny pistols were made between about 1910 and the beginning of World War I in 1914, when production had to stop as the economy turned to a war footing. |

Mark Hughes is a licensed gun owner. His face was tweeted out by the Dallas Police Department as a suspect in the deadly shooting that took the lives of five police officers and injured 11 others.
Hughes attended the Black Lives Matter rally in downtown Dallas, which is where the shooting happened. He had his assault rifle with him.
According to Hughes brother, Mark immediately gave his assault rifle to a police officer when the shooting started.
Licensed concealed carriers Johnathan Davenport and Jonathan Cross said the Dallas PDs decision to put out Hughes picture was not a good one. |

Beneath a photograph of Hughes at the rally with the gun slung over his shoulder, the Dallas Police Department, desperately searching for the sniper whose rampage left five police officers dead and seven others wounded, tweeted to the world, "This is one of our suspects. Please help us find him!"
Alerted to the post, which was retweeted more than 40,000 times before the police department took it down Friday afternoon, Hughes quickly surrendered his rifle to police Thursday night, he told reporters on Friday. He was interrogated and had his clothes and the gun confiscated.
Since then, attorney Corwyn Davis said, Hughes and his brother had received "thousands of death threats. There was a lot of negligence with that picture." |

As Newsy reported, social media users helped clear Mark Hughes' name, but it could've been much worse.
Texas is an open-carry state, and licensed gun owners can carry their firearms in plain sight.
So, do black gun owners have equal protection under the Second Amendment? In theory, sure. The Second Amendment protects the right to bear arms, but blacks have a complicated history with gun ownership. |

This effort to build a bipartisan group is on a separate track from talks about a Republican gun measure. House conservatives have opposed that bill, arguing it infringed on Second Amendment rights, so Ryan and other leaders had to delay any action on it after initially planning a vote this week. And House Democrats continue to insist they want votes on a bill to expand background checks for private gun sales and on a measure to ban guns to those on a terror watch list. |

While theres no denying that race played a critical role in Phils death, we think its also worth highlighting the way his case is different than many of the others: He had a gun. According to his girlfriends account, he voluntarily told the officer who stopped him that he had a gun, and she reportedly told the officer that he was licensed for concealed carry. (Civilians are encouraged to volunteer this information in any interaction with the police). But evidently that didnt matter. As he reached for his wallet, the cop thought gun, and he started firing directly into the car. |

Bob Smith started the Fernan Rod and Gun Club in 1990 as a solution to clean up an informal shooting range and to start a club that enabled people to shoot in a safe environment. Now, two and a half decades later, the popular shooting range is trying to secure a 20-year special use permit so it can stay open for all the people who love it.
The club 5 miles outside Coeur d'Alene on Fernan Lake Road is on a site people used to use for target practice and as a general dump. Smith described the old site as being similar to the way Hayden Creek is now, but "10 times worse." Littered with microwaves, refrigerators, piles of trash and lots of bullet shells, the area was in bad shape, reported the Coeur d'Alene Press. |

Mike Bianchi was carrying a pistol in a holster when police stopped him at a sobriety checkpoint in Berkeley.
The officer didnt ask if he was carrying a gun, but Bianchi told him anyway.
By the way, I have my concealed weapons permit, he said, with his hands firmly on the steering wheel where the officers could see them. He told them the gun was on his right side in a holster. What do you want me to do?
Thats fine, said the officer. Just dont reach for yours and we wont reach for ours.
Soon he was on his way. |

Not one mass shooting would have been prevented by universal background checks. Not a single one! In fact, I cant think of a single crime that would have been prevented by universal background check!
It has been stated that with our laws today two people can meet up in a park or parking lot and sell firearms. OK, lets look at that type of sale. Firstly, over the last 50 years Ive sometimes bought guns through private sale. It was always from a friend or neighbor and we could both have passed a background check. Why do it that way? Because the buyer pays less than a dealer would charge and the seller gets a better price than the wholesale price a dealer would pay. Its a win-win for both. |

The contradiction in Sterling and Castiles cases is that each was licensed to possess and carry a firearm. The NRA should be screaming about the violation of their Second Amendment rights, but instead they are as silent as they were when the Mulford Act of California disarmed members of the Black Panther party for Self-Defense members. Gun advocates claim they want Americans to have the right to be armed, but have a problem with Black men joining the club. The NAACP advocates for an independent prosecutor in every case where a law enforcement officer shoots a civilian. |

During their grand opening held Saturday July 2, The Bunker drew a large number of visitors to their downtown store to purchase weapons and other gear or learn about the training courses the store will offer.
Chad Wise, a member of the United States Army and assistant professor currently stationed at Fort Leavenworth, said he is scheduled to retire this year and, about three years ago, he and his wife Melissa began considering a business such as The Bunker where he could continue putting his skills gained through the army to good use. |

Dana Loesch reacted to calls for gun control legislation following last night's police ambush in Dallas, saying it's not guns that need to be curbed, but the rhetoric from some anti-gun activists and politicians.
"It's not the NRA that's been using violent rhetoric to cut down police officers and to speak of them and denigrate them publicly the way that has been done by a lot of these activists and, dare I say, Black Lives Matter activists." |

Do you concealed carry in banks? Some people dont, though they will carry elsewhere. Unless your financial institution of choice prohibits it (and can legally do so), you may want to keep your CCW on you.
One may find the occasional person that mistakenly believes concealed carry in banks is a bad idea. Usually the idea is something like it would turn banks into shooting galleries or, youd never know who was there to rob the place or something along those lines. |

Any American denied the ability to buy a firearm would have the opportunity to have his or her case heard before a federal district judge, who would be required to reach a decision within 14 days. The burden of proof would be on the government, and plaintiffs who prevail would recover their lawyers fees.
The American people expect us to act.
