The hollow soft point (HSP) is an uncommon bull et type due to advances in bullet technology replacing it among major ammo distributors. It can still be found, however, and the best way to describe it is between a hollow point and a soft point bullet. While most hollow points are either fully jacketed or not at all, these are almost always semi-jacketed. Semi-jacketed means the bullet has a harder metal on the lower half of the bullet, coating the lead. What this does is allow expansion, but the expansion is rather limited when compared to a typical hollow point.

Alot of biometric gun safes seem futuristicthe lights, the access scanner, everything about them really. Not long ago, they were closer to something youd see in a sci-fi or top-secret military movie. Today, biometric gun safes are standard for many who want secure storage and convenient access for their home and self-defense firearms. Like other safe options, biometric gun safes can be accessed via a pin pad or standard key. |

Who among us is not eagerly awaiting the September 16 publication of the annual Cato Supreme Court Review? Among the articles I look forward to reading are the VC's Ilya Somin on the vaccine mandate cases and Jonathan Adler on West Virginia v. E.P.A. If you want to read about the Supreme Court's blockbuster decision on the Second Amendment, wait no longer. My Cato article Restoring the right to bear arms: New York State Rifle and Pistol Association v. Bruen is now available on SSRN.com. |

The problem with outlandish threats against law-abiding gun owners is they get repeated. Thats especially true when gun control groups seize upon careless remarks by President Joe Biden that the U.S. government would consider using actual weapons of war against those who dare to believe the Second Amendment protects the nation against a tyrannical government.

Wyoming Game and Fish Department -in cooperation with several private landowners- has established a new walk-in hunting and fishing area (Sweetwater #3) along the Green River. Historically, the private landowners allowed access to their property by sportsmen for hunting and fishing. Problems with littering, camping, and abandoning property on those private lands have resulted in the private landowners working with the department to regulate activities on those private properties by enrolling in the departments AccessYes program.

Ive been severely hooked on both hunting and long-range shooting for more than a few decades, so laser rangefinders are nothing new to me. I still remember saving up what seemed like an eternity to purchase my first one, an LRF I could barely afford. But it would actually hit at 1,000 yards and beyond reliably.

A new California law imposing civil fines on organizations that advertise any firearms-related product that makes firearms appealing to minors has caused a popular youth target shooting league to suspend operations. Faced with fines of up $25,000 for any and each instance of advertising firearms-related products under House Assembly Bill 2571, the California State High School Clay Target League (CASHCTL) posted on its website that it has been forced to close down. |

One of the most-commonly asked questions about deer rifles regards the amount of recoil. Nobody who is being honest, at least enjoys getting pummeled. Generally speaking, larger rounds have more knockdown power on game, but they also pack more foot-pounds of recoil energy into the shooters shoulder. On bigger game, thats a necessary trade-off, but on thinner-skinned deer, low-recoiling choices are plentiful.
