Obama's voting record as a state senator reflected the same left-wing agenda: He opposed restrictions on partial birth abortion and requiring medical care for fetuses who are born alive during an abortion. He opposed requiring school officials to install pornography-blocking software on public computers accessible to minors. He opposed a $500 income tax credit for parents who send their children to private schools. He supported restrictions on gun ownership, and opposed a bill that permitted the owner of an unregistered handgun to claim self-defense if he used the gun in his own home. He consistently voted in favor of higher taxes.

One brave judge resists feminist agenda

The U.S. Supreme Court recently agreed to hear another case, U.S. v. Hayes, to decide whether an old misdemeanor domestic violence conviction can bar a man from ever owning a gun. Everyone agrees that convicted felons should not have guns, but misdemeanors are minor offenses that usually carry no jail time.

Under feminist pressure, most courts have interpreted federal law broadly to deprive millions of men of their gun rights; however, in the Hayes case, a 2-1 majority on the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals had the courage to stand up to feminists and rule that Hayes had no fair warning that prosecutors would stretch the definition of domestic violence to include his minor offense.

First of all, let me say that this was a horrible tragedy and my heart breaks for the young victim's family and friends. But c'mon Paul, think about this.

If the attack had happened in the U.S., the guy would have used a gun (not a knife) and he probably would have shot up the whole bus.

How many victims would there have been if this guy had a gun instead? I don't even want to imagine.

I think the bus driver should be commended for his quick actions of getting the bus to the roadside and the people off. If a gun were involved, I highly doubt he could have managed this.

I have always been proud to be Canadian and that includes being thankful that we do not have the "Right to Bear Arms."

Atlanta squares off against gun rights advocates Monday over whether people with the proper licenses should be able to carry weapons into so-called "nonsecure areas" of Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.

U.S. District Court Judge Marvin Shoob is scheduled to hear arguments from GeorgiaCarry.org, which has sued the city and the city-run airport. The group is asking for a temporary injunction to stop the city from enforcing the airport gun ban. Atlanta city attorneys will argue the gun ban should remain in place.

Judith George said her decision to get a concealed weapon permit is an expression of her constitutional rights.

"I also wanted it to be an example that just because you are a female you shouldn't feel scared or unprotected at the places you go," she said. "If I felt I needed to carry a weapon to feel protected then I wanted to be able to do so legally and without a hassle."

While many others apparently feel the same way, not everyone likes the end result of Georgia's House Bill 89.

Freedoms carry responsibilities and limits

But with these freedoms come responsibility and limits. We can’t shout “fire” in a theater without facing consequences and we cannot say untruthful and damaging things about other citizens without facing potential liabilities. In addition, although we have a right to bear arms, there are limits to what we can do with the weapons we own.

All of these limits are pretty much taken for granted and those who go too far, find themselves in trouble either criminally or financially. As a youngster, I knew that if I wanted to go to college, I had better get a scholarship or I would probably have to take a job in the mill or construction.

MN: Kids need gun safety lessons

No matter what your stance is on the right to own and carry guns, there can be no disagreement that all children need to be educated about the power of guns. And all adults who have firearms need to lock them up at home. It’s against the law to store a loaded firearm where children can gain access. There were reportedly two other guns found in unlocked cases in the home of the Nerstrand boy who died.

Firearms safety is not just for children of parents who possess guns. At some point in time, most children are going to be visiting a household where there are guns, and they need to know what to do and what not to do.

The National Rifle Association likes to say that guns don't kill people. People kill people. Well, here are two ladies with guns who are trying to save lives. Remarkable.

``There should be no hatred amongst athletes, and there should be no hatred among people, either,' Salukvadze said. `` The politicians should certainly sort out the situation. If they don't, we'll have to get involved.'
They're already involved. Pictures of their embrace are being beamed around the world. Naive, perhaps, but maybe it can change hearts and minds.

Stokes also wants to encourage people to turn in their guns for cash. He hopes Crime Stoppers will increase the amount they'll pay people to turn in a gun.

When asked about a person's right to own a firearm, Stokes had this to say.

"These same people. They're talking about having the right to a gun, if their children were dying, then they'd change their attitude. What we have to do is make the city safer. After we do that, then everybody can have a gun."

Following my recent column on concealed carry methods I received several questions about other carry options that I did not mention in the article. My intention in that column was to discuss some of the more common choices, but the degree of interest in other possibilities made me think that comments about some other methods might be useful. Here are a few more.

Middle of the Back

One regular reader mentioned that he was surprised that I hadn't mentioned MoB carry, as it has been his preferred method for many years. Also sometimes called "SOB" for "small of the back," it is popular enough that several holster manufacturers make products specifically for it.

Even on issues that cost him support in the Republican ranks -- such as his opposition to federal funding for embryonic stem cell research -- Jindal comes down on the right side. He supports offshore drilling, giving families more educational options (which has drawn the condemnation of teachers' unions), the right to pack heat under the Second Amendment, and a federal marriage amendment. Obama takes the liberal side on each of these issues.

I don't think it's right," expresses Stevens. Some neighbors say they're being unfairly punished for the crimes other people have committed. "They know exactly who's doing the shooting, the robbery, but it seems like we're never going to get any justice around here," says Stevens. "We got kids down here. They should lock up these young folks that have been doing the shooting; don't put us hostage or on lockdown," complains Commons.

Assistant Police Chief Ronald Scott says since the curfew was implemented late Thursday afternoon, people are sleeping better. "We've taken some drugs off people, a couple of guns off people," says Scott. Authorities say that is the whole point.

Do you want to know how shrill the anti-gun hysteria can get? Read this:

Hoplophobia and the hatred of guns has reached a new level here in Britain (UK) with cries of foolish and inappropriate conduct. On the face of it he has not broken the law, and there is no suggestion of any involvement in anything untoward. Nevertheless, this sends out the worst possible message and renders councillor Hanif quite unsuitable to hold elected public office. The conduct in question took place over two and a half years ago, before Mr. Jahingir Hanif became a councillor.

An aside: Even two of the actors who have portrayed Ian Fleming's James Bond have found it politically and socially expedient in disarmed Britain to "admit" to a hatred of guns.

High-powered automatic weapons and ammunition are flowing virtually unchecked from border states into Mexico, fueling a war among drug traffickers, the army and police that has left thousands dead, according to U.S. and Mexican officials.

The munitions are hidden under trucks and stashed in the trunks of cars, or concealed under the clothing of people who brazenly walk across the international bridges. They are showing up in seizures and in the aftermath of shootouts between the cartels and police in Mexico.

The Humane Society of the United States has a radical anti-hunting, anti-gun political agenda. It would like nothing better than an attrition of hunters by minimizing opportunities for individuals to take the hunter safety classes that West Virginia law requires anyone born after 1974 to complete before getting a hunting license.

Pang Wei of China won the gold medal in the men's 10-meter air pistol Saturday, easily outlasting a pair of Koreans in the final round. When the final round ended, Pang turned around and waved his hat in the air while the home crowd cheered. Pang's margin of victory was a sizable one. There was only a 4-point difference between second place and sixth.

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. -- It was just expensive phone calls and a mystery high-definition television that raised the initial suspicions, but federal agents say their investigation found that an assistant King County fire chief bilked his department out more than $500,000.

In a federal complaint filed Tuesday, former South King County Fire and Rescue Assistant Chief Grant G. Gaspard is accused of multiple counts of mail and wire fraud related to thefts spread out over a period of several years.

Gaspard was arrested Thursday and Magistrate Judge Brian Tsuchida ordered him held without bail.

Gaspard was so efficient with the fraud, the complaint said, that even state auditors missed the thefts in the their regular inspections and, as re

A lot of preparedness types have spent countless hours trying to decide on the perfect survival gun, for the most part this has been nothing but wasted effort, because in reality no such animal exists; granted some are more versatile then others but none that are up to the task of doing everything and doing it well, without coming up short in one area or another.
