Todd Brown, owner of Oasis Equestrian Center, has big concerns about a firearm optics testing facility going in across the street from his Northfield Township property and he isnt the only one.
Twelve residents of the township north of Ann Arbor have decided to take legal action against the township, after the facility was granted a conditional use permit on July 12. The residents filed a lawsuit in the Washtenaw County Trial Court on Aug. 2 seeking a reversal of the township boards approval.
Leapers Farm, 2960 Seven Mile Road, plans to use the property as a private gun facility to test and research precision firearm optics that are manufactured by the applicant. |

The fatal shooting of a 22-year-old man in West Palm Beach, Fla., who allegedly threatened to open fire on a crowd Aug. 7 is just the latest in a number of incidents in which a legally-armed private citizen appears to have prevented a tragedy.
Gun prohibitionists have remained silent in the wake of the shooting, whereaccording to the Palm Beach Posta brawl between two women escalated into a fight involving about 20 people. The suspect reportedly grabbed a short-barreled rifle from his car and threatened to fire into the crowd. |

We are unable to apply this standard based on the record and arguments currently before us.The district court should decide, in the first instance, whether Oakland Tacticals proposed course of conduct is covered by the plain text of the Second Amendment.3 See, e.g.,id.at 213435 (concluding that the Second Amendment plainly covers a right to bear arms in public for self-defense). If the district court concludes that Oakland Tacticals proposed course of conduct is covered by the plain text of the Second Amendment, it should then determine whether historical evidenceto be produced by the Township in the first instancedemonstrates that the Ordinances shooting-range regulations are consistent with the nations historical tradition... |

Williams County officials and a group looking to make the county a second amendment sanctuary met Wednesday to discuss passage of a resolution.
The Sons of Liberty is pushing commissioners to sign a proclamation that would consider any federal acts, laws, and executive orders that infringe on gun rights illegal in Williams County. The resolution also includes allowing the sheriff to arrest federal agents that violate state law. Commissioner Barry Ramberg, a member of the Sons, said the resolution is similar to what has passed in other counties.
I really dont see a downside just to saying we support this, said Ramberg. |

But Frieds amended complaint maintained that prohibiting people who use medical marijuana from buying or having guns is a relatively recent development in the U.S.
Quite simply, there is no historical tradition of denying individuals their Second Amendment rights based solely (or even partially) on the use of marijuana, the lawsuit said. In fact, historical evidence shows that marijuana was considered a legitimate and legal form of medicine in England, America, and other western countries through the mid-Nineteenth and early-Twentieth Centuries.

An Amazon delivery driver is not facing any charges after he shot a knife-wielding man on Sunday.
The driver, Gino Grove, was out on his route when the suspect, Christopher Roberts, walked up to him with a knife, according to Middletown police.
Obviously, he [Grove] was in fear, explained Middletown Police Chief David Birk. So, in defense of himself, he was able to discharge a firearm striking the individual in the leg area.
The police report shows Roberts was suspected of being under the influence of drugs when he confronted the Amazon driver. |

Betts argued that he acted in self defense. A judge dismissed the case before trial, and the Kansas Court of Appeals upheld that decision. But Supreme Court Justice Dan Biles, writing for a unanimous state Supreme Court, said Kansas law grants immunity from prosecution for force used specifically against an attacker and doesn't mention bystanders.
"If the Legislature wishes to extend self-defense immunity when an innocent bystander is hurt, it can do so," Biles wrote. "In the meantime, we find nothing in the statutes providing a blanket shield for reckless conduct injuring an innocent bystander who was not reasonably perceived as an attacker." |

In the two hours they were there they raked up and shoveled into garbage bags approximately 1,300 pounds of trash which included shotgun shells, bullet casings, clay pigeon pieces, cardboard ammo boxes, plastic bottles, aluminum cans, and other assorted trash. |

A Delaware man was looking for an item in his car sometime before 11 PM. It wasnt reported if his vehicle was in his driveway or on the street. He was approached by three men who got out of an SUV that parked in the middle of the street.
The suspects threatened the man stating they had a gun, and ordered him out of the vehicle. As he was exiting, one of the suspects grabbed the man and pulled him out of the car. Thats when he drew his concealed carry gun and fired at the suspects. |

Not long after the 10mm was released, the cartridge found itself hanging over the yawning abyss of obscurity thanks in no small part to a lack of suitable firearms. Bren Ten pistols, which were the first to be chambered in 10mm, were available in the early 1980s, but unfortunately magazines for those pistols were not. To add insult to injury, the FBIfor whom the 10mm was essentially developed when the agency decided it needed more stopping power after the infamous 1986 Miami shootoutgave up on the 10mm in favor of the .40 S&W. |

Here, the case involves keeping a handgun in the home, which is certainly protected by the Second Amendment. The government bears the burden of proving that the HQL "is consistent with the Nation's historical tradition of firearm regulation."
In Bruen, the Court stated that history from the original periods (1791 for the Second Amendment, 1868 for the Fourteenth, which made the Second Amendment enforceable against the states) are most important. Colonial history is relevant, as is English history to the extent that it reflected an unbroken tradition that was adopted by the colonists and in force during the Founding Era. |

What is abundantly clear is that gun violence reduction cannot be achieved politically. It must be viewed as a public health and medical issue and resolved by organizations such as the American Public Health Association and the American Medical Association, which represent the interests of physicians who treat the people afflicted by gun violence. Politicians should then be required to enact the resulting recommendations into laws.
One way to solve a problem is to look at the endpoint and work backward. The endpoint is reducing gun violence, which means reducing avoidable, premature deaths caused by firearms. |

Tens of thousands of Music Midtown festivalgoers are no longer going to descend on Atlantas massive Piedmont Park next month to cheer on hip-hop star Future or watch beloved rock band My Chemical Romance take the stage.
In fact, some people are convinced Atlanta center of the nations hip-hop music scene will lose more music festivals and performances on public land as organizers and artists learn that state law makes it nearly impossible for them to stop people from carrying guns among the alcohol-fueled crowds.
That prospect has ignited a new fight over gun rights in Georgia that is roiling the governors race, casting a shadow over Atlantas vaunted music scene and adding to tension between the city and state. |

When it comes down to it, even if a school has a resource officer, if theyre in a different part of the school, different part of campus, it could be minutes before that resource officer shows up, Winder said on NewsNations Rush Hour.
That could be the difference, unfortunately, between a massive tragedy happening, Winder said. I just like having the opportunity to make that decision for myself and my students.
States like Ohio and Florida have laws and programs in place that give teachers a decision whether or not to carry a gun in school. Ohio passed its law in the wake of the Robb Elementary School shooting in Texas that left 19 children and two teachers dead. |

Now, with the passage of S.9458/A.10503, Governor Kathy Hochul has signed into law yet another unconstitutional and expansive curb of our constitutional right to keep and bear arms.
While anti-gun activists argue that these policies will reduce gun deaths, the truth is that they will primarily target law-abiding citizens. This legislation fails to address the driving causes of crime in our state. It was also so poorly written that the original bill effectively banned some types of body armor but failed to even ban the type of body armor used by the Buffalo shooter.
The law had to be hastily amended after having been passed and signed into law. Below I have responded to many of the false claims being made to correct the record. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
I do believe that where there is a choice only between cowardice and violence, I would advise violence. Thus when my eldest son asked me what he should have done had he been present when I was almost fatally assaulted in 1908 [by an Indian extremist opposed to Gandhi's agreement with Smuts], whether he should have run away and seen me killed or whether he should have used his physical force which he could and wanted to use, and defend me, I told him it was his duty to defend me even by using violence. Hence it was that I took part in the Boer War, the so-called Zulu Rebellion and [World War I]. Hence also do I advocate training in arms for those who believe in the method of violence. I would rather have India resort to arms in order to defend her honor than that she should in a cowardly manner become or remain a helpless witness to her own dishonor. Mohandas K. Gandhi, Young India, August 11, 1920 from Fischer, Louis ed.,The Essential Gandhi, 1962 |
