From the late 1950s to the early 2000s, two of the most popular rimfire cartridges on the planet were the 22 Long Rifle and the 22 Winchester Magnum Rimfire, otherwise known as the 22 WMR or 22 Mag. Generations of shooters (myself included) were taught how to shoot using a 22 LR bolt-action rifle before hunting varmints like coyotes and groundhogs with a 22 WMR.

Among various takeaways from Tuesdays primary election, a most gratifying one is this: Republican candidates for Missouri governor, lieutenant governor and attorney general whose TV commercials most prominently glorified their attachments to guns lost.

You might have assumed that with Donald Trump being the worlds best-known recent gun-violence survivor, savvy Republicans would have downplayed their affinity for guns. Nope.

Should you be so unfortunate as to live in Maryland, and more unfortunate as to own an AR-15, youre a criminal, as the Fourth Circuit Court recently affirmed. This despite the Supreme Courts Heller, McDonald and Bruen decisions having made clear the Second Amendment acknowledges the individual right to self-defense in ones home and elsewhere, and common and usual weapons are presumptively constitutional. Unfortunately none of those decisions specifically mention the AR-15, the most popularcommon and usual--rifle of its type in America.

I was once perusing my local gun forum and someone posted a question, Which is better for big game hunting in North America? 300 Win Mag or 300 WSM? The users who answered all began debating differences in ballistics, case capacity, terminal performance, and ammo selection.

However, Id like to pose a simpler answer: Yes!

Submitter's note: It should say "Vice President Harris's campaign issued a correction of Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz's statement on his military background"

Tim Walz is citing weapons he never carried in wars he never fought to justify his radical anti-gun policies.

Walz wants universal background checks, government sponsored anti-gun research, Red Flag laws, an end to concealed-carry reciprocity and the confiscation of ARs, which he calls weapons of war.

Anti-gun groups should know better than to hop in bed with each other. Theyre too fickle and their relationships almost always end in tears. The Trace and the Gun Violence Archive may be the latest two anti-gun groups to part ways.

A friend compared two handguns. One of them was lighter, smaller, and easier for him to carry. The larger handgun was slightly more accurate when he was shooting quicky. I didnt see this choice as a problem, but my friend did. He isnt that far away from the rest of us.

Tens of millions of us have become gun owners in the last few years. There is a difference between a defender and a someone who shoots for sport. Lets start with what they have in common.

NRA members know that there are plenty of excellent ways to exercise Second Amendment rights, such as continuing Americas hunting heritage, enjoying or competing in the shooting sports, or developing a firearm collection. However, the most important aspect of the Second Amendment is that it preserves the individual right to keep and bear arms to defend oneself, family, and community.

In a recent press conference, former President Donald Trump made it abundantly clear that his commitment to the Second Amendment remains unwavering, even in the face of a personal assassination attempt that came fractions of an inch from ending his life and left him shot and bleeding from his head.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
There is no doubt in my mind that millions of lives could have been saved if the people had not been "brainwashed" about gun ownership and they had been well armed. Hitler's thugs and goons were not very brave when confronted by a gun. Gun haters always want to forget the Warsaw Ghetto uprising, which is a perfect example of how a ragtag, half starved group of Jews took up 10 handguns and made asses out of the Nazi's. Theodore Haas, former prisoner of the infamous Dachau prisoner concentration camp
