"I only have one priority as a candidate - and as an individual - and that is the restoration of the Bill of Rights and of constitutional government in America. ..." ...
"As president, I'll veto any new victim disarmament - 'gun control' - legislation, and I'll shut down the agencies that enforce the 20,000 unconstitutional gun laws now on the books. My administration will defend that policy in court as necessary. The right to keep and bear arms is not negotiable."

"This week it was reported there were 48 school-related violent deaths in America in the academic year just concluded, up from 17 and 16 in the prior two years. 'This is a pending crisis. We know it's coming -- we can guarantee it's coming,' said L.A. Police Chief William Bratton."
"For 200 years, American kids went to school with guns to hunt after classes. They did not turn them on one another. What is different? "
"Here's a clue. Kids are training themselves on simulators, some of them created by DOD, to kill one another. Medical studies show kids process the games in a different part of the brain than do adults, the sector that leads to copycatting. Garbage in, garbage out."

"For nearly a year now, on the 13th of each month, CeaseFire Maryland and others in the gun violence prevention movement have called attention to the ticking clock on the 1994 federal assault weapons ban and have urged its strengthening and renewal, not its demise."
"Leah Barrett, CeaseFire Maryland's Executive Director, said: 'It is sad that we as a country have reached the point where time and hope have nearly run out on keeping and improving a ban on these weapons of war. Common sense is about to lose out to common fear -- the President's and Congress' fear of the gun lobby.' "

A man who robbed a Wilmette home last year and was shot by the homeowner when he broke in the following night has been sentenced to seven years in prison.
Thirty-two-year-old Morio Billings pleaded guilty to residential burglary and possession of a stolen motor vehicle. He was sentenced yesterday.
Billings robbed Hale DeMar's home of electronics, keys and S-U-V on December 28th. He returned the next night and was shot twice by DeMar.
DeMar's use of a gun started a debate when Wilmette cited him for violating its handgun ban. He is challenging the constitutionality of that law. |
