"Pacific Northwest gun rights activists tracking firearms issues nationwide are taking note of a report in Sundays Richmond, VA Times-Dispatch that shows how crime in bars and restaurants has actually dropped in the year since Virginia changed the law to allow concealed firearms in those establishments."

"Its the kind of revelation that causes gun prohibitionists to clench their teeth because: a) it appears in the mainstream press, which has a long history of supporting gun control and the prohibitionist agenda, and b) it further erodes the credibility of such extremist organizations as the Brady Campaign and state-level affiliates like Washington CeaseFire. ..." ...

"Last Thursday, National Gun Rights Examiner David Codrea noted a report from the Oathkeepers that the Denver office of the FBI wants surplus store owners to snitch on purchasers of certain survival gear. (Very) briefly summarized, the FBI wants to know about people who purchase 'in bulk' things like Meals, Ready to Eat (MREs), waterproof containers for ammunition or matches, shooting accessories, etc. ... Yesterday, Seattle Gun Rights Examiner Dave Workman reported that this effort on the federal government's part is both more widespread and longer established than was initially apparent."

"Northwest gun rights activists looking for a way to get the attention of politicians might follow the lead of Howard Schultz, CEO of the Seattle-based Starbucks Coffee, which last year stood up to anti-gun demagoguery by not barring armed customers from its shops around the country." ...

"Schultz suggestion to fellow business leaders to stop contributing to politicians is probably hitting a raw nerve in the political world, where contributions are the lifes blood of campaigns. But it may play a sweet chord among gun owners who reflexively distrust politicians, especially those who have voted for gun control measures." ...

"TTAGs received a new 1894c Marlin lever gun. Its a so-far-flawless replacement for the rifle that snapped in half before a shot was fired. You may recall that Chris Dumm had some quality issues with the rifles twin. Despite repeated requests, Marlin declined to comment on either gun. Yesterday, when I read an internet posting on bayoushooter.com claiming that Marlin had ceased production to address QC issues, I thought the story might have had merit (wishful thinking?).
