A 24-year-old motorcyclist who fatally shot a 60-year-old man as he attacked her along I-5 described the incident for the first time in an exclusive interview with a fellow motorcyclist who has also made news himself because of a confrontation while he was riding.
Aubrey Bowlin told her story to Alex Randall, which is published on Randalls YouTube channel Squid Tips, for motorcycle enthusiasts. |

The sheriff's office says a local contractor, age 40, drove to the man's home and started an argument. Investigators say the aggressor and the victim have known each other for a period of time.
The resident demanded he leave, but the aggressor refused and physically attacked the resident while he was sitting in his truck outside, apparently preparing to drive away.
There is no explanation of what physically attacked means in the reports but presumably the aggressor tried to punch the resident through the open window.
The resident retrieved a firearm that was in his truck and shot the aggressor at least one time. The suspect initially ran from the home after being shot but was found hours later by deputies. |

Surveillance video of a 2017 shooting is now at the core of a federal lawsuit against the Albuquerque Police Department.
Anthony Kapinski, 26, is suing the city of Albuquerque and an APD detective, claiming the detective ignored video evidence showing Kapinski he shot and killed two men in self-defense.
Kapinski claims he never should have been charged with murder. He sat in jail for nearly a year before a jury acquitted him. |

Thigh holsters, also known as drop leg holsters are both popular and somewhat controversial. Mostly they find use with law enforcement and military. However, they have other applications, including tactical training, open carry by private citizens, and outdoors. As more and more women exercise their Second Amendment rights and carry a self defense pistol, they might find themselves asking what this traditionally macho holster has to offer them, which is to say what is the best womens thigh holster? |

Every serious crisis involving firearms sees the same pattern of exploitation by the Liberty grabber Left. They immediately mount their gun confiscation hobbyhorse issuing lists of demands for restrictions on freedom. As soon as they get these new limitations, Leftists reset the rhetoric for the next go around. The pattern has always been one of compromise on behalf of the Pro-Liberty Right, only to see new demands made whenever the Left can exploit any new crisis.
Now is the time to reverse the trend of the incessant attacks on Liberty. |

Three University of Texas professors have lost another legal round in their challenge to a Texas law allowing people with concealed-handgun licenses to carry weapons on public university campuses.
The New Orleans-based 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Thursday refused to revive their lawsuit, which had been dismissed last year by a federal judge in Texas.
Lisa Moore, Mia Carter and Jennifer Glass had challenged the law on numerous constitutional grounds. They argued that fear of having armed students in their classrooms would have a chilling effect on free speech. |

Somewhat ironically, considering the considerable willingness to renege on it, the one First Amendment right a simple majority, 56 percent, could name was freedom of speech. Only 15 percent could recall freedom of religion. A mere 13 percent could think of freedom of the press, while right of assembly garnered only 12 percent and right of petition a paltry 2 percent. Fully 9 percent thought the Second Amendment right to bear arms was in the First. |

Schumers dogged opposition to Kavanaugh has put the three senators in a tight spot. A recent poll conducted by North Star Opinion Research shows that in Indiana, Hoosiers favor Kavanaughs confirmation 52 to 34 percent. In North Dakota, the margin is even greater, with 60 percent of people supporting Kavanaughs confirmation, and only 22 percent opposing.
The numbers hold strong for those who self-identify as independents: In Indiana, 48 percent of independents favor confirmation of Kavanaugh, versus 34 percent who oppose. In North Dakota, 60 percent of independents want to see Kavanaugh confirmed versus 18 percent who dont. |

Were not talking about just taking peoples guns, Farnsworth told Capitol Media Services at the time. Were talking about incarcerating them for the purpose of a psychological evaluation against their will, potentially infringing on their First Amendment rights, and infringing heavily upon their Second Amendment rights.
Its not just Farnsworth who objects. While the National Rifle Association was willing to go along with at least the watered-down version approved by the Senate. it still did not pass muster with the Arizona Citizens Defense League.

I see this all the time when discussing constitutional rights. The First Amendment isnt unlimited, someone will say. The Court has determined that some regulations are permissible. And then, having stated this banal fact, they argue that we need the government to prosecute speakers whose words they consider hateful. Its the same with the Second Amendment. Scalia himself said that the right to be arms wasnt infinite, I will be assured. And then comes the proposal to ban almost every firearm in the country and embark upon a mass confiscation drive. The logic seems to be, If something is allowed, then everything is. And that makes everything the same as something. |

Representative Bobby Payne informed the members of that chamber that the amendment would put[] the burden back where it was intended by the 2005 law, a theme echoed by Representative Paul Renner, who argued that the bill would clarify and give real meaning to the purpose of that law from 2005, said the brief, referring to Payne, a Palatka Republican, and Renner, a Palm Coast Republican.
The brief also said the change was procedural and, as a result, should be applied to older cases.
As a procedural enactment designed to restore the Legislatures original intent, the amended Stand Your Ground law properly applies to all pending cases, regardless the date of the conduct giving rise to the dispute, the brief said. |

The motion to dismiss Johnsons Second Amendment claim was denied. The department argued that Johnsons claims were unripe or premature, as the foster license was not terminated.
The court disagreed, stating: As pleaded, the Johnsons have suffered harm because they have been forced to choose between their Second Amendment rights and their foster care license for fear of enforcement of the rule.
However, an equal protection claim and substantive due process claim by the plaintiffs were dismissed with prejudice. |

He wrote an opinion upholding the City of Highland Parks ban on rapid firing semiautomatic rifles and large capacity magazines, writing that judges should be reluctant to second guess communities on how to protect the public safety, McKenna told KIRO Radios Dave Ross. Its judicial activism in his view, which Conservatives dont like to go in and second guess the policy determination of a legislative body. But on the other hand Judge Kavanaugh, and at least one Supreme Court Justice, Clarence Thomas, believe that the Second Amendment gets short shrift compared to other constitutionally enshrined rights . |

Louisiana officials blocked two of the nation's largest banks Thursday from involvement in a $600 million road-financing plan because they have policies restricting gun sales and manufacturing by their commercial customers.
In a narrow 7-6 vote, the State Bond Commission refused to allow Citigroup and Bank of America to work as underwriters on the interstate highway financing deal.
The effort to ban the banking giants from the borrowing transaction was led by Attorney General Jeff Landry and Treasurer John Schroder, both Republicans, and opposed by Democratic Gov. John Bel Edwards' administration. |

A requirement for a concealed weapon permit for all gun buyers is more appropriate, he said. With that, comes more background checks.
Im a hunter, I own guns. I have a concealed weapons permit, Haeseler said. At the end of the day, what we all want is for the killing to stop. We want the firearm deaths to go down. And I think this is an approach that preserves peoples Second Amendment rights.
But Jethwani says an all-out ban is long overdue.
He believes a ban would result in fewer killings. He said judges should also be allowed to seize a persons firearms for up to a year if they are a threat to others. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
As an individual, I believe, very strongly, that handguns should be banned and that there should be stringent, effective control of other firearms. However, as a judge, I know full well that the question of whether handguns can be sold is a political one, not an issue of products liability law, and that this is a matter for the legislatures, not the courts. The unconventional theories advanced in this case (and others) are totally without merit, a misuse of products liability laws. Judge Buchmeyer, Patterson v. Gesellschaft, 1206 F.Supp. 1206, 1216 (N.D. Tex. 1985) |
